How do u like this situation. I usually leave my radio on at night so somthing like ron and fez or letterman can put me to sleep. Last night I was listening to the bald truth because there was nothing else better to listen to. So I go to bed, then I WAKE UP AT 4 IN THE MORNING. Of course, my eyes didnt even open, but my ears were open. Guess who I had to listen to... lickass. he was talking about fat girls are having too much mcdonalds. I was grouchy the whole rest of the day.

I agree with Irishkb above. If Infinity puts D&M back on WNEW, the odds are GREATLY improved that there won't be a format change and R&F will stay in NY. <P>
Nothing will happen with O&A until the FCC hearings are done. They're getting nice paychecks and they'll be fine until their contract runs out and then they'll re-appear. <P>

Although I didn't love them, I did listen, on occasion. Now, I would rather stick hot pokers in my ears than turn on the radio between 2&7pm. Therefore, I would welcome back Don & Mike, especially if it was the reason the talk format was saved.

I think if they would and I emphasise IF because all this speculation is just one big if. IF they come back to NYC it would help keep the talk format on the air. I admit it, I listen to Don and Mike, I don't know if my sense of humor has hit bottom and I can tolerate and bad comedy now or what but I listen and I deal. I like talk radio as it is and they are a lot better than Leykis. Leykis is scum and woman bashing we do not need on the radio. Is there any female DJ's out there who bash men as much as Leykis bashes women? That would be an interseting combo. I think Dr. Laura, I'm not sure.

They did for a few days remember? I guess Infinity realized that it might work, which went against their "lets fuck everything up" rule. So they did the switch to midday.

As the radio dentist likes to say, R&F aren't a good drive-time show. Even as much as I love the boys, I can't just check in for 15-30 minutes and feel like I know whats going on. Lickass is awful, but you can turn on his show for the half hour of your commute and get everything. In fact, if you listened to any more of his show, you'd probably want to kill yourself, whereas you need to devote an hour (minimum) to really hear R&F at their best.

For years, the only comedy talk show I listened to was D&M, and occasionally Stern when I was travelling. It was D&M moving to mid-days and getting picked up by WNEW (and my discovery of the wonderful world of SU!) that first turned me on to O&A and R&F. I was instantly a HUGE fan, and have been addicted ever since. (even though they STILL haven't sent my BigAssCard, dammit) I enjoyed each for different reasons, and I loved having the 12 hour non-stop block. That's why I was disappointed when D&M and O&A went to war. Maybe there was more to it than they were able to say on the air, but it just seemed like such a pissing contest, and only hurt both shows.

I miss O&A, and I still listen to D&M when I can, but my day now revolves around making sure I can listen to R&F, whether live or catching the replay the next morning. I'm like a rat on crack! They have without a doubt the funniest gd show I've ever heard, and I'd be heartbroken if they had to leave NY. They're just not the same when they try to broadcast from DC, or anywhere else.

I'm sure that most of you only heard D&M AFTER they joined WNEW, and I have to say that I agree with most of you, and think their show SUCKED while in mid-days, and while it seemed they were trying too hard (and VERY unsuccessfully) to kiss-up to the new NY listeners. (BTW, I was worried that R&F would make changes when they were picked up by JFK, but I'm SO relieved that they haven't!) Not to mention the train-wreck of trying to add the diva Leah during the same time. But mainly, I just don't think that ANY of the 3 shows work very well in mid-days, (remember when R&F had that slot? you gotta admit, the show suffered) and I think that D&M went into the deal with a chip on their collective shoulders for having to give up their reg time slot.

But after all that happened... I gotta give D&M credit for putting all of it behind them and welcoming R&F to DC. (and I'd heard them claim that they were the one's that recommended R&F for that slot). I think they know that R&F blow them away, and would only help their ratings.

Personally, I don't think D&M are going back to WNEW (they've claimed that it was offered after O&A were taken off, but that they refused), let alone to any NY station after the last ratings fiasco, but IF they did, and IF they stuck to their normal material, I don't think they'd do anything to hurt R&F or WNEW.

And isn't that the bottom line... whatever is best for R&F, and keeping them where they belong, in NYC!

Frankly, I'll be happy if WNEW keeps the talk format with or without D&M. There is definitely a niche for this type of programming in NY.

Other than sports, politics or NPR(and does anyone listen to that?) there are no talk alternatives.
