Bloomberg should make next years list. His tax increases and abuse of the middle class is a crime.

I guess local politico's don't make big lists, but I'd add:

Mayor Sharpe James (D-Newark, NJ)

Mayor James Cahill (D-New Brunswick, NJ)

among others who have made my life a living Hades this year.

But, of course, I am bitter and biased.

1st, I'm honored that u had to mimick me instead of coming up with one of your own usually witty remarks, which i always enjoy. 2nd, being that reality is set in the present, we're not so far apart--once u realize that after the scandals, the world wide embarrassment of American democracy, the affront on the checks and balances of our system, the mockery of the impeachment process, the "define 'the'" debacle, not to mention his assistance in getting NY our junior senator (blech), many many people saw the light and began to actually dislike the man. Hey--i voted for him once...once. America, I apologize.

For WHAT? The blowjob thing was shameful, but for God's sake, get over it. You think Bush has somehow established "dignity" and respect in the current White House? Do you realize how loathed and hated around the world he is, even by our allies? At least most of our fellow Western countries would stand by Clinton while they were mocking him. The idea that Bush is somehow "better" than Clinton is a farce. WAKE UP. He's just as bad, just not half as entertaining. It's not cute anymore.

The dignity of the office belongs to the office itself. It has yet to be besmirched by our current president. I'm sure youll disagree, so I'll just ask you to name one crime THIS president has committed. Yes, I laughed hard at Will Farell's impression; "strategery" was hilarious. And I laughed at the other thread about his misuse of the English language. But I do indeed believe he is better than Bill Clinton. Maybe not the best we have to offer, but the best that stepped forward to serve. I pity the democrat that has to run against him in 2004.

President Bush had strong ties to Enron. They were heavy campaign contributors. Chaney even had the the heads of Enron, along with the leaders of several other major energy company help him devise his energy policy. When the Enron scandal first came out, there were many lines leading back to the presidency. Alas, in wartime, no one wants to look unpatriotic and see just how much W. knew.

I pity the democrat that has to run against him in 2004.

Remember what I said about history? OK, think back about ten years. Another Bush in the White House. Tangled with Iraq. Stunning approval ratings. But that pesky economy just kept going into freefall. And befre you knew it, he was gone. Unless the money starts flying again, this one is out on his ass, too. In fact, he and the Republicans are REALLY screwed, because now that they're "in charge", they have nobody else to blame. A big ol', hearty "SSSSSSEEYUH!" to all involved is definitely in order.

And as for the current image of the White House, you're kind of twisting away from what you initially said. The crux of your point seem to have been the Clinton embarassed himself, the government and the country to the rest of the world. My point is that Bush has done NOTHING to aleviate that situation, and has in fact made it worse in some areas. You then countered with the fact that YOU think he's the right man for the job, which is fine, but it's just your personal opinion. I'm going to counter with the fact that under him, in a post-9/11 world, international opinions (Foreign allies included) of America are among the lowest we've had since Vietnam. Not a pretty sight.

Well, at least u seem to agree with me that Clinton damaged the country (otherwise why would Bush have to alleviate anything?). And as far as making it worse, how? Just cuz he stumbles on words? or because our enemies (and some of our allies, you say) fear him?You then countered
I'm not countering anything. It's obvious you want a democrat in the white house, whereas I usually support whoever's in there. We are stating opinions, not trying to win an argument...or are we?I'm going to counter with the fact that under him, in a post-9/11 world, international opinions (Foreign allies included) of America are among the lowest we've had since Vietnam. Not a pretty sight
I really doubt your stats, but lets say youre right. So what? Are u saying theyre gonna take arms against us? Give aid to Sadaam? Any country that says they dont support us are either our enemies anyway, in bed with our enemies, or trying to stay neutral during the talk phase, so that no one gets angry with them. As for your wish that Al Sharpton (or who ever) wins the presidency in 2004, i wish u luck. But I really dont think it will come to fruition. And Hippie, the executives at Enron did indeed commit crimes. They have been charged with these crimes. I know, cuz I saw them in handcuffs on tv...i missed the footage where they charged the president with a crime. I had stock in Enron too...am i guilty of a crime? Youre grasping at straws. Thanks to Clinton, we've seen how low a president can go, once Bush even gets ankle deep in "a Clinton", call me.

Reguarding W. and enron: where there's smoke, there're greedy oil whores giving each other hand jobs in the west wing (from snopes.com)Enron spent nearly three times as much money lobbying the Bush administration in the first half of 2001 as it initially reported.

The collapsed energy-trading company spent at least $2.46 million on efforts to influence energy and budget decisions and support its international ventures, according to an amended lobbying report Enron filed with the House and Senate on March 1.

Since 1989, the Houston-based energy broker and its employees have made more than $5.7 million in contributions to federal candidates and political parties, nearly three-quarters of it to Republicans. Enron was George W. Bush's biggest contributor in the 2000 presidential campaign.

Enron, Arthur Andersen and Vinson & Elkins, a Houston law firm, are among the most generous contributors to Mr. Bush's 2000 presidential campaign. Enron has given more than $700,000 to Mr. Bush since 1993; no company has given him more. In addition, Enron's chairman, Kenneth L. Lay, was one of the "pioneers," raising more than $100,000 for Mr. Bush's e-mail campaign, and he and his wife gave a total of $10,000 to Mr. Bush's Florida recount fund. Enron and Mr. Lay also contributed a total of $200,000 to Mr. Bush's inaugural festivities.

No, because the Democrat alternatives are just as awful. I DON'T LIKE CLINTON. I just get really annoyed when people talk like Bush is such a blessed relief compared to him, when he's just as useless and infuriating.

And the world's a big place. We need to be a part of it, we need allies, and we don't need a president who keeps pissing them off.

Why the hell would Al Sharpton even have a chance of winning? If I hate stupid, two-faced people holding office, why would I want him running the country?

Look, just because Bush is there, doesn't mean he's right.

Just cuz he stumbles on words? or because our enemies (and some of our allies, you say) fear him?

Do you really believe this? That every country in the world has set as it's highest priority to oppose us, or to not support us, regarless of their own security interests? Before the first Gulf War, the world was solidly behind us. They paid almost the entire bill for that war. Why then and not now? Is it impossible that they don't see the threat that the Bush administration claims, but refuses to prove?

Let me explain it this way. I don't look at Clinton and Bush in terms of "who's better", because they both are doing or have done wholly inadequate and ineffectual jobs. It just infuriates me when people talk like Bush is somehow "better" than Clinton because he, say, now "cleaning up the terrorism mess that Clinton ignored", and essentially basing that support solely on the fact that Bush is reacting only because he HAS to. You honestly think that if 9/11 hadn't happened, Bush would have, in ANY significant capacity, taken any additional steps to get people like Osama?

Plus, on top of that, people support him almost blindly just because he's a Republican. Bust THIS: If you say this, you're just as ignorant and hypocritical as the people that stood by Clinton just because he was a Democrat. Not a single difference. It's that kind of tow-the-line mentality that has almost killed the truly democratic aspects of our electoral process.

"Who'd you vote for?"

"I ALWAYS VOTE REPUBLICAN/DEMOCRAT!"

"Did you pay attention to the issues?"

"I ALWAYS VOTE FOR THE DONKEY/THE ELEPHANT!"

"Did you truly investigate which candidate is going to make choices on issues that will significantly affect your life and the lives of the people around you?"

"Uh...ME ALWAYS VOTE FOR THE PRETTY DONKEYCRAT/SEXY REPUBLIPHANT!"

Why blame Clinton for 9/11, when the Republicans are just as "guilty" for letting America's guard down? Was I hallucinating when I saw footage of Reagan welcoming the Afghani mujahedeen to the White House? Sitting them down in the Oval Office? In 1988? And then hear him praise these men as being the "moral equivalent of our founding fathers"?!? And then see these very same men and their cronies end up on our "terror hit-list" 13 years later? Stop believing the smoke and mirrors and don't be afraid to take a stand when it REALLY matters. Don't cater to an agenda someone else made for you.

not being sure of the criteria of "most corrupt",I offer as most "lowball" corrupt politician, the 39th vice president, who was allowed to resign (a reoccurring theme of this administration) and pled guilty to tax evasion (he didn't declare the bribes he took while in office).I put into nomination ,from the great state of Maryland, the dishonorable Spiro T. Agnew.

Was I hallucinating when I saw footage of Reagan welcoming the Afghani mujahedeen to the White House? Sitting them down in the Oval Office?
Which members of the Mujahideen visited the White House that are on the current hit-list? I know Gailani and Mujaddadi visited Reagan. In the Book "Afghanistan: The Bear Trap," written by the Pakistani ISI's foremer head of the Afghan Bureau Mohammad Yousaf, the men are referred to as "Moderates" and the former is referred to as a "Liberal Democrat" on page 42.

It was well known during the war that the Mujahideen's fundamentalists refused to meet with American leaders because that would reveal the war as not a war for Afghani Liberation, but an extension of American policy.

Let me get back to you on Tuesday, when I get my copy of "Terrorism: Ours and Theirs" (No, the "ours" isn't American, it refers to extremist Muslim jihad groups and the "other" Muslims) back. I'm blanking on the names, but the quote stuck with me...I know the particular visit I was speaking of was where Reagan received at least five leading members of the mujahideen.

Here's some info on the book at the following link...

It's the collection of reports that bothers me. They take a paragraph from one source, snip it with a few other sentences and half thoughts collected from everywhere, and call it something new. it seems to me that a lot of their information and quotes are taken out of context.

also, the entire site is bias. They're not reporting the news as it happened, they're painting a picture, showing one side only. "news sources" like that can't be trusted.

I will wait until you reply on Tuesday, but I really doubt Reagan ever even met with Mujahideen fundamentalists, let alone compare them to the founding fathers. The moderate and liberal Mujhaideen are another story, but they would most likely not be the people we are fighting today.

Definition of an honest politician: one who STAYS bought.
Anecdote I read a few years ago: Nelson Rockefeller, running for re-election as NY Governor in the late '60's/ early '70's, is out with his minions shaking hands in NYC. Unbeknownst to them, one of the people they've cornered for the photo-op is one of the bosses of a Mafia family (I don't remember which one).

Rockefeller: I hope I can count on your vote. Mafia guy: Why? What's in it for me? (Rockefeller is taken aback but one of his handlers steps up with): Good government! Mafia Guy: Why would I want that? I'm doing fine with the kind we got.
We get the government we deserve, folks.

The articles fail to mention a $2 million dollar bribe, er I mean "campaign donation" to the Clinton campaign that got Enron the $2 billion power plant contract in India that India has yet to pay.

how do you know that this article is misquoting? It cites every reference it uses after each quote.

Selective reporting doesn't really hide the bias or give an accurate accounting of events. For example, Let's say the headline reads: "CaptClown kills man with his bare hands over women and a dog", and the story goes into grisly detail about how I butchered some poor schlub in great detail. But the reporter leaves out a few details like the poor schlub broke into my house sliced my mother's and sister's throats respectively, and tried to rape my dog, in order to make a point that killing the schmuck was wrong because he may or may not have had a hard life and I should have been more understanding. While the story may be true that I brutally killed the poor schlub, it may leave out the fact that I may have just cause, like defense of myself family and property.

How does that grab you for slanted or biased reporting?

so it's bad for enron to donate 2 million to clinton, but ok to donate 4.5 million AND USE OF THE ENRON JET DURING THE 2000 CAMPAIGN to Bush? Or did you people forget this? Hmmm, getting a 1000% return on a bribe that they have yet to collect on all these few years later. Bush reportedly paid them back for the use of the jet. Gray Davis and the California legislature share just as much responsibilty for Cali's energy as Enron. In hindsight it looks like they set up their deregulation up to fail by not allowing more than 3 Days energy to get stockpiled, and not enough power plants or hydroelectric generators being built. All with the population growing. It sort of reminds me of a situation in Garrett County, Md. Where they want to build a windmill farm but are being blocked because migratory birds may fly into the windmill blades.

if you're calling campaign donations bribes now (which is fair), then I guess enron bribed Bush for 4.5 mil to let Kennyboy Lay hand pick the new head of the securities and exchange, who directly oversee enron and other oil whores.

One shouldn't complain of snow on your neighbor's driveway when yours is packed high in white. We weren't talking about Clinton's record. we were talking about how Bush supposedly had done nothing to shame the presidency, and that's what made him superior to Clinton. He obviously is not.

Oh, I'm not saying Reagan never said it, but he was probably saying it in reference to moderates, not the fundamentalists who we are fighting today.

A mujahideen "moderate" is still so many light years away from being like our "founding fathers", it'll make your head spin. He was completely ignoring their repressive and oppressive social laws and practices simply based on the fact they stood up to the Soviets.

My point is still that it's redundant and pointless for Bush supporters to try and "blame" Clinton for 9/11. Hindsight is always crystal clear, and at the time the extent of the threat to us was simply not registered. This has little to do with Clinton and plenty to do with the agencies (Including the one that kept me warm and fed and paid for me through college, the CIA) who's existences revolve around supposedly keeping aware of these sorts of threats. At the time of the African embassy bombings, Clinton ordered numerous airstrikes against a number of supposed Al Queda terrorist targets, which were met with a resounding public outcry. The terrorists responsible for the first WTC bombing were caught, tried, and sent away. At the time, it seemed that the immediate problem had been "solved". Of course, that seems absurd now.

A lot of our Presidential foreign policy decisions in the millitary vein have been very shortsighted in the last 30 years or so. The Middle East was eclipsed for decades by our obsessive feud with an obviously faltering USSR (1970 on). Now our seemingly blinders-on focus on the Middle East is already leading us to apparently ignore threats like those posed by North Korea. It would just be nice if someone up on the top floor tried to plan ahead a little more instead of only in the here and now.
