Gaia: I think you may have had another thread on the same subject, but, here is my opinion.

I don't think that there is anything wrong with thinking about yourself in relationships, but consideration and thought should be put forth toward your partner too.

I also truly believe (although I know Horde King will disagree on this) that there is a larger picture to our lives here, and I believe, that we meet the right person when we are ready. Why? Because there is soooo much to learn about relationships and ourselves, and that by getting into a serious relationship (such as marriage) without knowledge and awareness of a lot of things, it usually leads to disasterous results that could really cause very bad repercussions to ourselves, spouse and children. That is why I believe that many people end up waiting a while before they find the "right one". In other words, I believe, it is not done "to your detriment", but for your future happiness.

We all want someone to love and care for but cant seem to find that right one. We always seem to want the one that we cant have and it hurts us even more. The only thing you can do is keep up the search until you find that one that will listen to "Me" and someone who you can listen to them talk about "me"

GAIA - You ask "what's wrong with me???" Although introspection and self-evaluation is very important, it is also important not to rush to find fault or blame yourself - especially in the area of relationships.

Every person in the world is unique and has their own thoughts, feelings, intellect, humor, philosophy, etc. Both people must work and fit well together for the relationship to succeed. If one of the people is not desirous of the relationship it cannot succeed.

You wrote that he complained about your being concerned with "me, me me" all the time. Yet you also indicate that this is the first time in years that you have thought about yourself. The two are contradictory. Is it possible that he was upset b/c you finally wanted something for yourself instead of only focusing on him?

I'm sure you've heard the expression "he" (or "she")completes me. That's really a dangerous sentiment. If you're not happy with yourself you won't be happy in a relationship either.
