How did D.C. scoop Philly in getting R&F. You'd think they'd be up there already.

d&m are the only talk show on the station

Think about the poor bastards who live were D&M are the only show in the whole market. :(

WJFK in DC is all talk and R&F already have a slot on the station. WYSP would have to change format a bit to accomadate R&F. I wonder how long it will be until don and mike start badmouthing R&F. The do it to ever other act on WJFK

Don and Mike only started butting heads with Opie and Anthony, which is pretty easy since both shows have a pretty big ego. Since Ron and Fez really isn't about beating the hell out of everybody else's show verbally, I think they can coexist with Don and Mike.

Don said just yesterday that he and mike get along well with Ron and Fez, and that's what I've seen in previous months.

I mean, you could bring up the greaseman... but they were only mad at him because he didn't get good ratings, but got better money deals (which I don't think is a good reason to be mad, since I liked Grease anyway.) The only other host I can think of is G. Gordon Liddy, who started attacking Don and Mike first.

I know a lot of people on this board don't like D&M, but I honestly believe that they had a lot to do with getting R&F on the air in DC, and for that, I am grateful.

R&F in DC is better than no R&F at all!

And I know that D&M are only in about 50 cities, which doesn't include most of the "major markets" (Philly is probably the biggest besides DC), but I think it would be fantastic if they could get packaged and syndicated to all the cities that D&M are in, especially in Philly!

More R&F is more gooder

I posted earlier about Ron & Fez on WYSP. Don and Mike mentioned it yesterday but gave no details or time frame. I listened at 7 and at 11 and there was no buddays. Maybe tonight there is hope...

The only show out of WJFK that clashed with D&M was the not-missed-at-all G. Gordon Liddy...and it started when Liddy started railing about being surounded by "trash radio" on the station...otherwise D&M got along fine with the Sports Junkies, and had R&F on the show a couple times back when they first came on in 2000. Don has already mentioned cryptically that he wants to push D&M and R&F as a "package deal" with Stern, like they initally tried to do with O&A. If this is true, it pretty much means Philly and Sacramento will be locks for R&F...

I think there is some misplaced apprecation and benevolence in connection with Infinity managment on this issue. True, the boys on in DC are better than being paid and off the air(with a no compete), but that's about it. They could have returned to Florida and probably walked back into the Monsters syndication network tomorrow, given their following down there. In which case, opening XM to them and us as an option. Even better, option #2, they could have resurfaced in the NY area with a station owned by a competing company. Even in a surrounding Jersey station, ie WDHA, 95.9 the Rat, whatever. This effectvely is limbo right now, and it's insane given the fever for them in NY. How many non drivetime shows have inspired this kind of spark and life?

I think there is some misplaced apprecation and benevolence in connection with Infinity managment on this issue.

Whoa, don't get me wrong. I'm as pissed off about the situation as anyone else, and trust me, after the way O&A and now R&F were treated, I have no loyalty or "benevolence" for Infinity whatsoever.

But the situation is what it is. I don't know anything about the contract R&F have (no compete, etc.), and if anyone does, I'd love to know what it is... but it "seems" to me right now that they are stuck with Infinity, and if that's the case, then we can only make the best of it.

Listen to the way WJFK does their promo's... "Howard Stern, Bill O'Reily, Don and Mike, Ron and Fez...". Their philosophy has always been "sell the package". I do know that when D&M made the switch to middays, it was an effort to "complete the package", which was Stern, D&M, O&A, and eventually R&F. I know Howard wasn't on WNEW, but that's the way they were trying to sell them across the rest of the country.

My loyalty is to R&F, period, and I just want to see them succeed. To that end, it seems right now that their best bet might be to try to get syndicated to the other current Infinity markets, and hopefully back on one of their stations in NYC.

But the intent of my initial post was merely about the support they seem to be getting from D&M. YES, D&M ripped G. Gordon Liddy, and now on Bill O'Reily, because he just doesn't fit in. A political show is a lousy lead-in for what type of show they (and R&F) do, and he's only hurting their ratings and the appeal of selling the "package" to newer, bigger markets.

I think they realize that having R&F on their "team" can only help them. Hell, D&M and Stern absolutely DESPISE each other, but you rarely hear about it on the air because that would only hurt each show.

I could really give a shit about all of this "radio business", except that I am as desperate as anyone else to see the boys back in NYC where they belong.

i'm sorry to all the new yorkers for the lost of r&f. i live just outside of philly and i have been writing email to wysp for about 2 months now. i think the reason that wysp wont bring them here is because they are the eagles station during football season. i have been trying to get everyone i know to write mail to them about getting them to philly. PLEASE HELP and maybe we'll bring them closer to the nyc area.
