How foten should males give blood? I say males becuase I herd from somone once that its a healthy thing to do, since we dont umm you know, shed blood

You should donate because there is an ongoing shortage of blood in the US, not just because it's "healthy" for you. About four million people need blood each year and a blood transfusion is needed every 3 seconds. But only 5% of the country donates. 5%!!!That's all. By donating one pint you can save up to 3 lives and you can donate every 8 weeks. I try to go a few times a year. It's my one good deed for society.

No we don't shed blood. However, each cell in our body (including the blood cells of course) are constantly dying and being replaced. If I recall correctly every 5 or 6 months all of your blood has been replaced.

There is a severe shortage of blood and plasma. Donating blood is a very noble and altruistic thing to do and can save someone's life. It also takes only about 20 minutes.

Donating plasma takes about 2 hours, but there is a greater need for it and it's fantastic if you can manage it with your schedule.

The red cross has a list on their website of conditions and medications that prevent people from donating. You should take a look at those to make sure you're an eligible donor.
