Infinity owns MTV and these radio stations in the market, but doesn't have a "z100" to call their own (and get dollars for advertising to the young hip crowd. i think with infinity owning MTV and clearchannel owning z100 in the NY market, i'm hearing rumors in the "industry" that it may keep that format and compete with one of their competitors (clearchannel) with one of their own.

Either that or it is going to be a "Light FM", which for some f-ing reason is the highest rated overall in key demos. Infinity used to own the "Lite FM" in NY but sold it and has regretted it ever since.

That's what is probably going to happen..and my 2 cents..

A guy i work with said that he read a press release 1-2 weeks ago that said "WNEW is dumping its talk format and will be re formating the station towards a new audience; females 25 - 45 years of age.

I couldn't believe it either. I guess we will just have to wait and see..but I'm really not interested in WNEW anymore.....your mom's box
