I saw it the other day. It was very Spinal Tap-ish without being a rip off. they had some of the same actors and it was done in the same documentary style, but still original. I liked it. Eugene Levy was very good as the burned out folk singer.

It was pretty funny but not as funny as Waiting for Guffman or Best in Show. I liked the part when the made cardboard cut outs of the main street singers out of gin boxes.

I loved it, but found it strange that they had done so well at making the Levy sotryline seem "real" that it stopped being funny and actually became really sad...

I loved the commitment to the project. "The Folksman" have been appearing at "real Folk festivals" since at least the mid-1990's. Having the whole cast play and sing their own stuff really made the "backstage and rehearsal" moments for me. "A laugh and a tear" all I can hope for in a movie. The couple of "silly moments" (which I did laugh at) felt "out of place" to me.
