The main problem of course is the writing. It's the same stellar crew that sunk Voyager. But beyond that, I think it's political correctness. No one dies. Not one crewmember has died. Look at the original series. it was campy, but it still ruled. The following series had some characters die, less and less each season and each season got worse and worse.

It's just like everything else we've seen 8 billion times in Star Trek before. They're creatively bankrupt.

And judging by the season finale, it seems as if they've decided to rip off Joe Michael Stracyznski and the Babylon 5 universe AGAIN.

I agree with the exception that at least during DS9 there was more death then any other Trek show. With the orginal it was the crewmen wearing the red shirt tend to die, on the The next generation it was the helmsman who dies, and ds9 everyone since there was a war, Voyager was lost in some part of the galaxy and seemed to keep the majority of the crew with sucked, and now enterprise come on at least kill one of the main characters off, at least the next generation did. Okay I just let out too much of my Trek side, I'll lock it up now until next time

DS9 was fucking boring till the war shit started. Voyager was straight out lame. Enterprise is bland. It's PC and boring. I didn't see the last ep (or most of them, for that matter), but allegedly, they plan o get more edgy with the shit they did in the last ep.

I think Enterprise is awful. It's like they're trying to get back that whole cowboy captain sleeping around a lot original star trek vibe, but they're constrained by PCness that didn't exist when the original star trek was on. It's boring as shit, the plots have all been done a gazillion times, and why would I watch it when I can watch TNG on TNN a million times a day? (speaking of which, why would I buy the TNG DVDs when I have TNN??? HMMMM???)

I think a pre-quel wouldve been a better movie idea; getting to see how all the original technology/alliances/jargon came from. I was however very interested in this version when it debuted. I got bored after about 4 episodes, and that theme song sucks. As for the captain, I keep waiting for him to leap.

It would be in Paramount's best interests to let ST die out again. Maybe release a movie every 5 years at most. ST:TNG was not very good overall (ther are exceptions), especailyl in the beginning, where they just rehashed old ST eps, but because ST hadn't been on the air in over 20 years, it was able to survive long enough to evolve into something people wanted to watch because they hadn't been able to see it in so long.

Agreed. I really didn't get into the show until the Episode where the Enterprise-C came through the temporal rift. That's when the show came into its own.

DS9 was relatively weak compared to ST:TNG, but as you point out once the Dominion War started, it rocked. The last season of DS9 was outstanding, and I remember hating to wait for the next week's ep. This new show sucks. Starting from the theme song, to the "been there, done that" crew. My biggest issue is how they rewrite everything. Romulans? Tholians? It's all revisionist crap trying to bring in the old viewers. I didn't watch it the entire season, and don't miss it one bit. I liked the idea they had floated before this series started, about a group of Star Fleet Special Ops going around. That at least had the potential for new storylines.

Why do you think ST:Enterprise sucks?

I think what the show needs is a lil dose of 'Al' and 'Ziggy'...

well, the Next Generation took a couple of seasons before it got good. As for what Chris the Cop said - I agree - they seem to be too close to the "modern" trek and less like 21 century people with near future tech, which is what it was supposed to be. It's like they took TNG, and removed some of the "toys".

Boring.

they do try though. They have her rubbingoil on herself whenever they can work it in. But that's what they're reduced to in order to get viewers. It's Seven of Nine syndrome all over again.

No plot? put a hot chick in a cat suit, maybe no one will notice

They need to keep T'Pol and Dr. Flox (and Captain Archer, if necessary) and kill off EVERYBODY else.

And I agree with the previous posts, get rid of that horrible theme song and get some new writers. This is the most unwatchable Star Trek ever. Voyager looks exciting next to this bland mess.

It's Seven of Nine syndrome all over again.

Don't knock it. She was the only reason to watch that show it's last few years.

Can anyone think of a worse opening song to any TV show in the history of TV?

I hear the opening note and I want to hurl.

They had an interview with Scott Bakula on the news following the season finale, and he said that he pushed for the show to go darker and edgier.

TNG in it's earlier years was trying to find its legs. Patrick Stewart thought he was in a stage play, and pulling all the Shakespearian acting tricks out of the bag. Most of the characters were extremely two-dimensional. Not until the writers realized that everything didn't have to be tied up in a neat bow by episode's end did they start getting good. Some of the better episodes were the ones that left a question mark or two in the viewer's mind.

Episodes that were directed by Jonathan Frakes were usually very good. Such as Cause and Effect where he shoots each "loop" in a different way to prevent it from getting too repititious.

There were a couple of good episodes in Enterprise, but it hasn't yet gotten as good as TNG was near mid-season 3. Considering the "prequel-ness" of the series, there should be less "socio-political introspection" and more action.

DS9 was awful until the war started. I always hated the fucking Prophets storyline. I so wish we could've done without the the entire fucking idea.

Voyager was good when the Borg was around...it had some pretty good moments and I thought Janeway was a good captain, all considering. I thought it was a pretty solid show.

The problem with Enterprise is eyecandy. Marina Sirtis was never really THAT pretty. Jolene Blolock (sp?) is a fucking whore with big tits and a thin waist that REALLY conflicts with that the fact that she is playing a Vulcan. I would've preferred a more homely woman or a man in the role, as I've always hated casting intended to develop sexual tension...you know, that whole "will they get together" plot convention that has killed so many good shows. I also dislike the time period this is set in. I have big problems with the technology being far superior to the the Original Series enterprise which is supposed to be set many years later. They should've left it the way it was and continued on with the Trek storyline after Voyager. Then again, I do enjoy the occasional reference to future events and watching things evolve from the beginning. They CAN turn this show around...I agree with Bacula...make it DARKER...make it more dangerous...kill that guy with the southern drawl immediately...make the security guy a bad ass soldier with fighting abilities...that's what always bothered me about trek...the security people really had no hand-to-hand combat abilities...they were also pussies...

i could go on...but im leaving work now....
