El Jefe admits that jobs were stolen!

El Jefe and his Hideout gang were having their usual witty banter about picking noses or about an ugly vagina, when J Dubbs blurted out to El Jefe: "You know you stole these jobs!" To which Jefe replied:"Ssssh, why did you say that? Don't talk about that."
They all had a big laugh over that exchange. I'm sure Billy and Mikey D aren't laughing.

This will come off as cruel, but I think I'm not alone when I say that the very fact that there is a Ron and Fez show; and in a major market, is worth the cost. At least for now.

With hope: El Jefe's rating go up, Ron and Fez's continue to climb [it really too early for any real numbers, and even the numbers, the arbs and birch's and others, are suspect at best, in my opinion]; WJFK gets huge, R+F syndicate and boom; we can hear them in NYC. And they hire Billy and Mikey and Al and Rory and New rory and Ferrell and O+A and Jim Norton and Brian Regan.... well I can dream!

Of course having them back physically in NYC is what many [me] would love. But first things first.

And yes it really sucks that Billy and Mikey and some others had to be cut loose. I miss them both terribly on the show. But being in radio the teeensy-est little bit, I have seen how cut-throat and fickle these stations can be. I can now honestly say, looking back, how lucky we all are that WJFK was smart enough to grab them.

Who knows...I sure don't, I didn't even hear the thing.

I'm just real happy that at 7pm, I can hear Ron and Fez live in 2003! wooHOOO!!!

Actually, you all are wrong. El Jefe isn't the producer of the Ron and Fez show. He's still "helping" out. He hasn't been given the title or been told that he is "producer." He is doing his regular job, his own show and running the board and helping during both shifts of R&F, without overtime.

His show is so much better than it was in early may, that wasn't a listenable now it is and they kinda have an actual show structure.

I don't think anyone knows what is permanent or temporary because I don't think any decisions were made yet. They are just feeling this thing out as they go. But the things I do know are 1) All the funny guys are gone (Not counting the boys obviously) and 2) the staff there now sucks.

I hope this gets better. And I am tired of hearing what a favor WJFK did them. Believe me, if they didn't see the success they had a WNEW, albeit short term due to circumstances not theirs, they wouldn't have gotten this slot. But WJFK has them because Viacom knows they are an asset and had to put them somewhere in a big market. not because they are so nice.

Actually, I am not a friend of El Jefe, but I have talked to him several times. Perhaps after I do the show tonight I will consider him a friend.

Yes he does havs some say, but he's still not the producer. I asked him and he said that he is not producer, he's just helping out when and wherever he's asked to. SO saying he is the producer is not a fact.
You may hate him, but you have to give him credit. He's working 15 hour days and not getting paid anything extra for it, no overtime, no promise of being made producer (though I don't know personally that that is his goal.)

2ndly, why is everyone only thinking about Billy and Mikey D. Billy said on the air I beleive if asked he would have went to DC. Doesn't anyone really listen to the shows. I like Mikey on the show, but the bigger picture here is Rory. You guys missed one too. If Bill said he knew for a month, is there any reason to think that if Rory is his boss, wouldn't have known the same thing? Of course he did and thats why he left. The decision should be about Rory and Billy! Tho others are great, but these 2 traveled with the show and were the show. They were the only 2 who truly got a real farewell also.
What it comes down to was Rory was the producer and Billy was his 2nd in command....and they both werent asked...of course no else would be.


Screw it, it's over, but don't get caught up with all the bullshit people, remember what was said, not what you thought you heard. Listen to the replays again if you have to, if You can of last show.

Zappa, I'm not sure why you think you know anything about the El Jefe situation. As far as I can tell from your posts, your only source of information is what you hear on the radio. I assume that you're old enough to realize that you can't believe everything you hear on the air. On the show, some things are deliberately exagerated for comic effect, or staged as bits. We all hear the same show, yet you're the only one coming up with these conspiracy theories. Even more irresponsibly, you post these half-baked theories as fact. If you have real information to back up what you say, post it. Because as it is, you come off as a bitter and immature poster who will go to absolutely any length, regardless of how inane (e.g. the amber alert) to bash El Jefe.

Either that or you are are El Jefe, and you're just having a little fun at our expense.

I don't think any of you guys are authorities on this subject but there are alot of bullshit facts being thrown around.

1) At least as of recently, no offers were tendered to Billy or Mikey so it is completely inaccurate that they left simply because they were tired of the travel.

2)El Jefe is not doing this gig out of the goodness of his heart. He has a saturday night show which doesn't have near the exposure Ron and Fez have and every day he steals working on this show is another day on his resume.

3) I am quite sure there are all kinds of power struggles going because a vacuum was created with the loss of staff. I doubt any descisions are being made yet because as you can see, rumor central has them possibly changing time slots, possible programing changes on the station. The only thing that seems clear is that Ron and Fez aren't in on these descisions. I think at this stage they have earned the right to run their own show.

4) Why do so many people stick up for El Jeffe? That guy sucks.

Here's a perfect example of El Jefe's lack of talent:
he broke into the conversation of Ron and Fez on their show before vacation, with a story of how he wipes his butt. I swear it was the exact monologue that Stern has been doing for years, right down to wetting the toilet paper for a second swipe. Except of course El Jefe manages to suck all the humor out of the bit, because he has none to offer. Anybody who's listened to Stern knows it was stolen verbatim. Just because El Jefe somehow made it to the airwaves doesn't mean he's got anything new to say. Ron and Fez are original talents with constant wit. The difference in talent between them and El Jefe is staggering!

Bestinshow, how are you an authority on this? I think that it was most likely a money issue. WJFK thought it would be better to just hire new blood instead of paying the old regime.

And you are right: Jefe is looking to Ron and Fez as a push, but a lot of people in NY got familiar with Ron and Fez from their mentions on O&A and the AFRO shows on O&A's show.

Wherever you can get publicity is good for you. He'd be stupid not to climb on the Ron and Fez bandwagon.
