Why do people wear headphones at ballgames?

I just came back from the Mets game with my son (OK...Stop laughing...). I always wondered why some people pay money to attend a game and then keep on their headphones all game and listen to the radio broadcast. Why not just stay home?

listening to the play by play while watching the game live is alot better then watching it on TV.

Besides the radio play by play gets deeper into the game then just watching balls and strikes.

Yep, you can get the play by play that way.

Also if you have bad seats in the nosebleed section you can hear what the little dots on the field are doing.

Well you see, I'm not a dedicated fan of any one team and need play by play guys to let me know who is who sometimes.

Thank god they don't give you a trivia test at the entrance to see if you're worthy to view the game.

I'm guessing its people that go alone that bring the headphones. Watching baseball for three hours is boing enough, I can't imagine going to the game alone without anyone to talk to, I'd wear headphones too!

I use them when I go to a ballgame because like everyone else said, you get the play by play. You can also zone out from the other rowdy fans.

a few reasons, most said being play by play. also, maybe you are listenin to another game. sometimes if you need a team to lose for your team to make something. and, especially if your a mets fan, right about the 3rd or 4th inning, it would be good to put on some music and not have to watch the massacre. im just surprised they havent made some law to keep you from bringing them

yea cause we wouldnt find a way to do it anyway. i bring weed to events all the time, people bring batteries, and this is in NY. last night someone through an m80 in oakland that blew up in the stands and filled em with smoke and burned some kid. and last i checked, your not supposed to have m80's at games. then again giants stadium still plays the announcment not to through snowballs so who knows
