My week has been a disaster for many reasons but one above all. About a year ago I met the most perfect girl through my best friend at the time who was dating her. I instantly fell in love with her. She was amazing; great body, great personality, great everything. Only problem was, she was dating my best friend at the time. Well fast forward to this weekend, over the past year we had talked nearly every day and we became very close, trusted friends with each other. During that time I had also gotten into a squabble with her boyfriend and I no longer spoke to him, but I did maintain a relationship with his girlfriend. So during this year I waited and waited for them to breakup, afraid to date anyone else because of the fear that they would break up and she would be available and I would not. To say the least many of my nights were spent watching Cinemax at 4 in the morning with a moist towel. This week, it looked as if their relationship was finally coming to an end and I would have my chance to get the girl of my dreams. Well, it wasn't in the cards and they resolved their problems and stayed together.fuck. This tease was just too much for me, however, as I just had to tell her exactly how I felt. The results were not as pleasing as I had hoped. She told me that `Life is too short to spend it waiting for one person.' And not to `waste my time waiting for her'. I was totally destroyed, I called in sick for the rest of the week and I have just been laying here in bed for hours and hours thinking about how I fucked up my chances with the greatest girl ever. So, that's where I turn to you guys. Please help me win this girl over!! What should I do?.. What should I do?

My opinion would be to get a life. There are countless girls out there with nice bodies and nice personalities. To wait for one girl for over a year seems ridiculous, epecially a girl who was dating your best friend, (or ex-bestfriend) that just seems wrong. A wise super stud from Belleville New Jersey (me) once said, "<i>Girls come and go, but friendships last a lifetime</i>". I'm willing to bet that your break in friendship had <i>something</i> to do with that girl, in one way or another. You threw away your best friend, and for what?cause you thought his girlfriend was hot? <br><br>one more thing, in the future i recommend not getting your bestfriends girlfriends phone number, that is so lame. I guess posting on this board wasn't the way to get any help from sympathizers. For what it's worth, I do know of couples that got together from your kind of situation, ones that got married in fact.

You obviously fucked things up by spilling your guts when you knew she had just gotten back together with her boyfriend. I honestly don't know how well your friendship can recover, but as for winning her over, I don't really think it can be done right now unless she comes to you.

The big thing here of course is that she's going out with someone who was at least at one point your "best friend." It's very hard for me, and others apparently, to condone yor going after this girl in this kind of situation.

In the end, your best path is to get out there, meet people and see who you find. She knows how you feel, so the ball's in her court. Or you could pursue this further and maybe come out of it wiser but probably still single.

Most people's reactions here seem pretty valid. After reading your story, I'm left wondering why you'd persue a chick like this. Already dating your friend, she obviously wasn't availible. It's easy to chat her up because your relationship with her was "pre-arranged" by the default of your friend's tie to her. That's a lot safer than cultivating your own relationship with a girl who is single and chooses to hang with you on your own merits.

Maybe you could look at why you fall so hard for people who aren't in a position to meet your needs from the start. Sleeping in bed all week and blowing off work are pretty dramatic reactions to not making the hook up. Try to invest your energy in people who want to be with you...it's a lot simpler. Don't freak out too badly. Lots of people make poor choices in love interests. Why not try to talk to someone who can help steer you in a more reasonable direction in dating? Good luck man.
