View Full Version : 60 bucks for a haircut
NEVER would I spend that much. However my brother, thats another story. He went out and spent 50 plus a 10 dollar tip for some gay guy to "style" his hair. Menwhile from the back he looks like a dike, and from the front , well I dunno he kinda looks forgien. Ok so a forgien Dike. Menwhile my barber could have dont that for 13 plus a 2 dollar tip. Any other guys out there that do this kinda thing?

No way.
I pay $14 for a cut now and I think that is too much.
Especially because there is no atmosphere in these "Supercuts" and styling crap shoots.
I miss my old barber in Philly. Old time shop. Same guys always there. Haircuts were $8 until he passed away a few years ago.

I normally go for Henry's $12.00 cut.
Although, the day before my wedding I went for a $50.00 joint.
It looked a little bit better, but it took like 2 fucking hours to do.
Thank God I got to stare at an awesome rack for those 2 hours.

You're all getting robbed on haircuts. I pay $3.75 plus a $2.00 tip. I'm in and out in less than ten minutes. Cheap, fast, and a good haircut. What more could I want.

yes I agree but its like not your average everyday haircut. I mean it looked a bit better after he showered and maybe it will look a bit better after a week or 2. But it still looks like something my barber could have done for like 13 bucks

I'm presuming Missy has more faith in someone that works in a well known place that has numberous crudentials(sp?)
Rather than a Beauty Salon, where a house wife that has 5 kids and gets beat by her drunken husband who is underpaid as a construction worker has complete control of your hair.
It's all an issue of trust.......and money.

I pay $25 dollars and leave a $5 tip to my hair dresser. I usually have to make an appointment 3 weeks in advance. I have recommended "Jonathan" to 3 women and 2 male friends of mine which no longer get their haircuts by anyone else. Ladies and gentlemen there is a significant difference. I'm guessing this board may not be the best medium to debate the importance of male grooming. Always remember a haircut goes a LONG way in framing your face which can be more effective then you may think. Plus, you really have to have an eye for style to judge what looks good and what doesn't. While I may be vein and/or conscious of my appearance I understand some males could give a bat's ass what they look like or how they come off. Change that attitude! As for women, that's an ENTIRELY different ball park. Depending on what they want done (in most cases this includes much more than just a haircut) a reputable salon usually runs a woman a couple of hundred dollars. Lastly, being a man that dates mostly Asian women and have been privy to the Japanese salon, their prices dwarf most others. The results are usually outstanding. While a majority of Asian women have beautiful hair naturally they still have to maintain, which costs money.

I'm gonna spend about $120 on Saturday for a cut and highlight. It's worth it. I've had my hair ruined by inept employees in cheap places. Oh, and almost every gay guy I've gone to is the best at it, like everyone else didn't know that already.

when i first changed my hair from black to light brown with blonde highlights, i paid $275. And I couldnt afford to pay that much either. but if youre going to do something drastic to your hair that involves bleaching chemicals, i think its a good idea to go to the best place you can (plus it took 3 hours to do it to my hair)

I'm lucky.
There's a Vietnamese barber by me where he and his family only charge $11.00 for my haircut. I usually tip $5.00.
But Steels is right. I go to this barber because he makes my hair look fantastic. Before I found him I would spend at LEAST $25 getting my hair cut/styled/whatever. It IS important, and if you don't think so, well, thank GOD for the wall that is the internet.

My hair cost the same amount to maintain as Aggies. Every month(or so) i go in to get a trim and my highlights kept up. My first visit though was $190, i gather first timers to a new place always pay more.
Sad part is my hairdresser told me i wouldnt have to pay nearly as much if i was constantly in the sun because it would brighten the highlights naturally bringing out the blonde underneath but noooooooo i have to spend all day online. I want to thank you all for that ( :) )

Haha, fuck that. The spanish broad around the corner does my roots and gives me a trim for $30 and she does a fine job. Oh wait, except for last month when she was washing the dye out and I swear I heard a distinct groan, like something had gone wrong. I was nervous as hell until it dried and everything seemed okay. A good time was had by all. Hey, I live in the ghetto.

Back in the day, when I lived in Times Square and worked in theatre (so I had zero money) I actually spent a morning asking people with "good hair cuts" where they got their's done. Someone sheepishly admitted to the "Wilfred Academy of Beauty".
$5 or so later I 'm sitting in a chair (while a lecture on dyeing is being taught) getting a cut from a women who just a moment ago was practicing on a doll! I see people "shaving balloons" ( yes. the foam was flying). I figure ,worse case,I got a story to "dine out on".
Suddenly, I hear a " NNNOOOOOOOOO!!!" and the
"pro instructor" comes running to the front of the room. I'm giggling till he stops at me. The "instruction session" was in Spanish so I wasn't privy to the details, but when he pulled the straight edge pocket razor out of his pocket the room " oooohhhed".
I never felt compelled to go back.
If I found a "great barber", I'd pay him.
