View Full Version : I don't play an instrument

Nor have I ever been inclined to learn. In the fourth grade, my parents made me take up an instrument in the school band. So I took drums, but didn't like it or stick with it.
On a board where it seems everyone's in a band, I'm wondering who else doesn't play?

neither do i
my two sisters and my brother all learned to play an instrument. My brother is an extremely talented jazz musician playing in the army jazz band in San Antonio.
What? You told me you play the skin flute like a pro.

There has to be fans for music to survive. Not everyone needs to play music.

Seriously, I get pissed off at parents who dont at least expose the kid to a couple of instruments.
Ron was talking about Pianos at the beginning of the show tonight; I was that kid taking piano lessons at 8, and coz I wanted to. We had the piano there, like Ron said, as a fine thing to look at, and I got interested.
I lucked out. For some reason I stuck with it enough; and the next thing yer in a band in high school, and it friggin rocked.
Moe, you said musicians need fans, this is true, but how about a world where you dont/cant play drums!!!!
AAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhh!!!!
I don't know, it's just fun to play.

I know what you mean, Mike. When I was around 10, my parents arranged to have a music teacher instruct me on the art of the accordian. Yea, yea, I know, what a dorky instrument. But you know what?...I learned to love that ole squeeze box!! I became pretty good at it. I even learned how to play the Irish concertina (all buttons-no keys!) From there, I graduated to the piano which I still play til this day!!! I've had great times playing my own brand of music!!!

I own a bass, and I really want to learn how to play it, but I usually don't have the time and the energy. So I'm just a fan of music. For now...
