My uncle from Chicago always tried to sell us stuff. Particularly AMWAY products back in the day. Somehow when they visited, they were always trying to hock things like a water filters, air filters, etc. The AMWAY food bars were like the nastiest shit. (I think he gave us a box one time cuz he couldn't sell it).
I think the last thing they tried to sell us was phone cards. They even wanted us to sell it for them "you could make money" and all the other sales pitches. Thank goodness we don't get involved with that stuff.
Is Amway still around? Or have they moved on to a different pyramid scheme.
The Ron and Fez show transcends all boundaries!
STOP! the Turf Wars.
Why the hell would I need a water filter for a ride on the train?

In my opinion, its a pyramid scheme. Its legal, but I think its still a scheme. Ponzi would be proud.

close. last summer i was unemployed for so long and needed a job so desperately, i got a job that you'll see in every newspaper in this country:
have fun while you work, great $$$, management possibilities, blah, blah, blah...
not only was it the shadiest pyramid scheme, but it was slinging shit no one wants. and they were selling me so hard, and i had to act like i was all into it. (bc i was with 3 guys i don't know, in lynbrook, li- 30 mi. rom my house- and had to trail these fuckers for 10 hrs.)

I dated a guy in 1997 who got into the AmWay shit.
I actually attended an Amway convention in Baltimore, MD. It was HORRIBLE. The WORST was at the end of one "rah rah, you can have 10 swimmimg pools if you sell our shite" meetings, they handed out candles to everyone. One candle got lit then each person passed the flame on as everyone sang "God Bless America."
I honestly have no idea how I survived the weekend considering there was no alcohol to be had.

Whenever I hear about Amway, I always think of the movie "Go".

Skeptic Site (http://skepdic.com/amway.html)
I was convined to try Amway many moons ago when I was in the Air Force. My NCOIC (boss) was an Amway guy had me buy a ton of shit and then try to convince people to sell it. All I managed to do was piss away money and piss people off.
As I remember it was real creepy. The thing was like a cult. Every meeting was cheering and like Fuzzy said "overly patriotic" There was also a lot of Jesus thrown around.
My boss eventually got an Article 15 (obscure reference you vets will understand)for forcing new Airmen into Amway.
