Just saw the movie starring The Rock & Stifler. The fight scenes were amazing and, believe it or not, The Rock was reeeally good as an actor. It was enjoyable but, at best, a 7 on a 10 scale.

having said that...

I dont think this movie deserves the accolades that they feed us in the commercials. According to the ad campaign this is the best reviewed movie of all time. They actually call it "Perfect", "The best action movie ever made" and other such statements.
My question is this: do the producers of these movies PAY the critics to say these things? It seems that EVERY movie, no matter how mediocre, gets glowing reviews. I think the movie critics are on the payroll.

With the number of outlets doing reviews now (TV, radio, print, internet), it's nearly impossible for a movie not to find a good review somewhere.

Incidentally, rotten tomatoes notes that 76% of the reviews for this movie are positive. (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/TheRundown-1125790/)

As for being "the best action movie ever", I haven't seen it, but I highly doubt it. Although if it wasn't for a handful of movies, those accolades would be damning with faint praise.

"This movie is perfect garbage." could be distilled to the word "perfect" in a commercial, so don't give that too much credence.

The Rundown's TV ad's use quotes from Ebert and Roper, two thumbs up.

Let's be fair to the movie - it's gotten good to great reviews generally across the board, and it will not only likely be the #1 movie this weekend but cement Rock's Hollywood career.

"Best action movie ever", doubtful, but it looks to be a good film which will probably be very successful.

I go with the average grade from film critics on Yahoo movies, (which gave this a B+), and I find the most reliable reviewer for me to be Roger Ebert, (who gave this a B). And I NEVER trust the Hollywood trade papers, I think they're the most paid-off segment of the critics. I also don't trust radio or TV critics. I am looking forward to seeing this movie as a decent action movie, but:

Don't believe the hype - its a sequel
As an equal, can I get this through to you

Loved it. Thought it was really funny at times and liked the fight scenes a lot. Rock did a good job (MUCh better than Scorpion King) and anytime I get to see Rock without his shirt and kicking ass I'm a happy girl.
