Retired Air Force Colonel Sam Gardiner charges the U.S. and Britain relied on information warfare and psychological operations to inform the public in the lead-up and during the invasion of Iraq. He outlines over 50 stories that appeared in the U.S. media that were either purposely false or misleading.

The reactions to my research have been very interesting.
When I show the stuff to individuals inside the government, mostly the career people who have been around more than one administration, they have an almost universal first reaction. They say something like, "Be careful with this; they will punish you." I don't hear that I have gotten it wrong. They don't correct my research. I keep hearing the notion that, as I found in the research, punishment of those who disagree is a dimension the strategy.

i don't think i need to read that link.
SURPRISE!!!! THE MEDIA AND GOVERNMENT LIE TO US!!!!!!!!
That's how life has always been and probably always will be. In general, there will always be stupid people who will oppose anything if someone tells them to oppose it. For just that reason the government has to shape the truth and not allow everybody to know everything. Sometimes a government has to do what's best for it's people and even I can understand that. And yes, that means that those intelligent enough to actually oppose things for the right reason are left in the dark. But I honestly think that's just a side effect and not the main agenda of lying or molding the truth.

I wish I could get away with posting threads as deliberately flame-baiting as Doomstone does.

Don't feed the beast.
The rest of us were just trying to ignore it politely, whistling and twiddling our thumbs...
That said, there ARE quite a few valid points made in that link. I just question the overall validity of the study and some of the more sensational charges. But ultimately, it's really not news that's new, unfortunately...

Some got away with ignoring the futility of the war in Viet Nam for a decade.
Getting our fighting men killed for nothing was what they called "supporting the troops".
Bringing them home would have been unpatriotic, in their view.
