the wadipsh*t brothers are pushing the Matrix as the new star wars. keanu the new Luke Skywalker? I think not. the Matrix has nowhere near the story that starwars did. all it is is just a special effects spectacular. keanu will never shake "Ted Theodore Logan" because he wasn't acting in that role. that's the real keanu.

They are just trying to drum up more interest. Don't read anything into it. It is just talk.

And by the way, if you haven't noticed, the last 2 Star Wars films have sucked ass.

Matrix < Original Star Wars Trilogy

BUT

Prequel Trilogy < Matrix

And yes, believe it or not, Matrix trilogy = LESS pretentious than Prequel Trilogy.

Of course, ALL of them < Lord of the Rings. I know TooCute will back me up on that.

i don't know I've liked them better than the Matrix movies. I hate the Matrix movies. They are the gays. Maybe it's just cause I don't like action movies with absolutley no substance and plots that are so metaphorical that I want to vomit. I wouldn't think people were watching action movies for philosophy

I gotta admit the new MAtrix looks mildly entertaining. Star Wars always has and always will do it for me. Yeah the last two were kind of weak, I still was entertained and given chills throughout.

Maybe cause I never read any of the LOTR books when I was a kid I just can't find myself getting into the films. I don't have that much time to invest in a movie anymore. The new one looks kind of good though I must admit. It does also strike me weird because all of the LOTR fantasy type of stuff and the swords and the fighting and the elves and stuff i should be all over because I am into so many metal bands who sing about the same kind of thing. Strange.

Yes, Lamb of God is that good. As the Palces Burn is the metal record of the last 10 years!

sorry, i'm new here and didn't know i could say shit. does that mean i can say fuck too? fuck yeah! LOTR is ok i guess, but hobbits were cool in 4th grade when we had to read the damn book. also, in starwars ep. 3, i hope the do a good job of tying up the story. i don't want to have to say something like " But what about___________?" you know what i mean. i'm still getting the feeling that i'm the only real person in the world and everyone else is just a bunch or robots.

I'll start by saying that there's absolutely nothing wrong with Ted Theodore Logan and Bill S. Preston, Esquire. That is one of the more enjoyable and unique films, period!! I'll add further that hobbits absolutely rule!

The Matrix was an awesome movie, being fun and having some substance to it. The second one was a bit disappointing but had its moments. I'm still thinking that rambling monologue of the architect will only make sense when you're very drunk or very high...probably moreso the latter. The antipathy the rogue programs and the agents had for each other was a great aspect...something very cool about the "magic vs technology" theme. Hopefully the third one wraps things up well, I'll eagerly awaiting its opening!

Star Wars, Empire and Return are just incredible and they get more enjoyable no matter how many times I see them. 1 and 2 have their bad points, but I still like seeing them, and they have their spots of true movie gold!

-----------------------------
Now I'm starving

I'm about to turn it up a notch!

i don't think even star wars is star wars, we tend to cling to childhood memories and events ......

of the star wars films: there was a good one (IV), a masterpiece (V), and lame flick (VI) ..... and the two prequels are interesting at best, and redeemable only if episode III is amazing .....

the Matrix has nowhere near the story that starwars did. all it is is just a special effects spectacular.

how different are the story lines ....? don't both follow a similiar story arch ....?

and as for matrix's use of special effects, all of the star wars film have their foundation built on special effects .....

the wadipsh*t brothers are pushing the Matrix as the new star wars.

Where are they doing this? They don't do interviews and the only thing I've seen where they talk at all is "The Matrix Revisited" and they didn't mention Star Wars, just the influences of the look of the Matrix (i.e. Comics and Japanimation) and the story (i.e. Philosophy and religion)

keanu will never shake "Ted Theodore Logan" because he wasn't acting in that role. that's the real keanu.

I think Bill and Ted is young Keanu, Neo is more mature stiffer Keanu. Neither is great acting but He'll never be able to get past Neo. It'll be like Mark Hammil (who just took Star Wars off his Biography, dumbass!)

Hey that's where the Star Wars/Matrix connection is! Mark Hammil and Keanu Reeves being typecast in roles that didn't need good acting.

Am I the only person who doesnt like the Matrix movies?

Lots of people don't like the matrix. I see them all the time on the Internet posting on websites full of Matrix fans! Every time you've heard someone say they saw a ghost, or an angel. Every story you've ever heard about vampires, werewolves, or aliens. It's a person who doesn't like the Matrix Movies.

I saw the first two Matrix movies, and they made sense to me. However, I'm a techie, and run / fix servers for a living.

Matrix = a computer
Neo & Co. = a virus, trojan, a subversive element

The computer does everything in its power to get rid of the virus. This includes a number of reboots (that's why we have multiple Neos throughout the years).

Somehow, the virus gets smarter every time the Matrix reboots. The human element comes in at this point.

I also wouldn't be surprised if we discovered that there is another layer under the current "rebel reality" in the 3rd Matrix movie.
