How many of those are blacks who purchased the freedom of other blacks? This is a single source of data, not a rosetta stone of black culpability in their own enslavement. Black owners of working slaves existed, but it was a historical anomoly, and a complex historical subject. You can't use an unanalyzed piece of data to suggest that black Americans share responsibility for slavery or its repurcussions in any meaningful way.

Perhaps the person in question is only suing their employer because they use those words.

Europeans organized and expanded the African slave trade on a scale many times larger than it had ever been before, especially in the 18th century. Yes most of the slaves were captured by other Africans, but the system of organization, transportation and providing the market for the slave trade was European. Whatever might have happened at the time but didn't, didn't.
