I drink way too much soda

I can easily drink two 2 liters in one sitting. Sometimes more. I absolutely hate coffee. So soda is my only source of caffiene. And I sometimes need to drink a lot of it at work. Especially since I work overnights. But it is ripping up my stomach.

Last Saturday, I purchased a case (24 cans) of generic soda at Costco. It was gone by Tuesday. In addition, I drink at least a pot of coffee a day. I tried to kick the habit once and descended into Gollum-style madness.

I have the same problem. i dont drink coffee, so drinking soda is my little pick me up. I've been better lately, where during the week I'll drink crystal light at work and home when i need something sweet, and save the soda for weekends if I go out for dinner. And I can't drink diet soda, I absolutely hate it. I usually try to stick with Sprite, or Mountain Dew for when my ass is really dragging.

I rarely drink soda, except for an occasional Pepsi for the lift, but I had a can of Dr. Pepper the other day and now I can't get enought of it. It tasted real good. I went and bought a case. What the hell is in this stuff that makes me wanna drink it ?? I think I was just bored of drinking Snapple ice tea, and needed a change of flavor.

The caffeine in soda has no effect on me. I can drink it all day and nothing. The only time I ever got really wired on caffeine was with caffeinated water.

I used to drink way to much soda as well. then about 6 years ago, I gave it up for lent. Once lent was over, I never really started to drink it again. If I go out for dinner, I will get a soda, but at home only water or iced tea. Like Just Jon, the caffine has absolutly no effect on me.

I just drink water and chocolate milk... and maybe some cafinated tea. I have Soda once or twice a week and I'll occasionally go out and buy a bottle of Dr. Pepper.

It eats up our teeth and our stomach because it's acidic. Very.

What's in it that makes us wanna drink it? Sugar and Caffeine and Acid. Sugar could not be simpler in composition, and addictive when you ride the blood sugar-insulin roller coaster; caffeine could not be more chemically complex, and like any stimulant, may be addicting. Some acids, like citric, have a taste and feel that is appealing enough to make us chug the gallong of the shit.

Soda is 99%+:

1.Water

2. Sugar [usually High Fructose Corn Syrup, less rarely cane sugar; Usually Aspertame [shudder] in Diet sodas]

3. Acid [Phosphoric and/or citric usually]

Throw in some caffeine, some sodium benzoate to stop the stuff from going bad, bottle it, sell it, and make a few $Billion.

Personal Observation: On my doctors advice, to lose weight, he insisted I drink regular Coke instead of Diet. Yep you read that right. I was drinking sometimes 2 liters a day of Diet Coke. When I switched; two things happened. My level of fatigue was markedly improved, and, I started drink way less soda, until now I treat myself to a can a day. Maybe two. Regular. I don't know Aspartame that well, but in his words, 'its worse then the sugar.'

I drink a few cans of soda a day, but I also drink coffee.

I can only have 2-3 cups of coffee a day or I'll be on the can all day. So I use Pepsi for another source of caffiene. I really like the taste too.

i can drink a 2 liter with no problem and i'll also drink 2 glasses and go to sleep. i think caffeine is overrated but the sugar in this shit is no joke. you know how people have beer gut's i have fucking soda gut. i don't drink alochol yet i'm all paunchy around the midsection from this shit. maybe that will be my resolution to quit drinking this garbage.

I remember in one of my Jr. High science classes, someone brought in a tooth. We let it sit in a bottle of coke for about 2 weeks, and the mofo was rotted beyond belief.

I drink way too much soda also. For some reason I only drink clear sodas like Sprite or 7UP for breakfast-like its a healthier morning drink and the colas and root beers the rest of the day. I dont know why.

I mostly drink water whenever I can. If I get lunch at the drive thru and there's no water option, then I generally will get Sierra Mist which isn't so sweet and it's pretty refreshing. Other than that I make tea.
