I know why I usually don't have Christmas Spirit

I know I WISH everyone a wonderful holiday but to feel it is another story.
It is just I was able to get ALL my family and friends everything I could give them. I usually barely have enough for my family and people very close to me. But I would love to give gifts to everyone I know (who I like even a little).
It just sucks only being able to say it. I wish I could show it.
One day maybe. But right now I have to just sit and send thoughts.
I know a few people are the same. It is depressing but I guess it is far better then to be sad because I am selfish.

I stopped participating in this commercial con job years ago.
It has been very liberating.

So you want to give. That's great.
Give during the year when you can afford it and when you don't have to meet some dopey deadline or follow the crowd.
Then it's genuine.

Actually I agree on both the depression and the gift-giving. I think that can be a vicious cycle. The people who live for this stuff, God bless em go crazy. But I agree that it should be an option, and in some places it's simply not.

Try being a teacher with 40 other teachers doing a secret santa that's got some crazy ass rules where the person gets gifts all week long. I don't know what was worse, getting the gifts [I loathe that], giving them [I LOVE that, but NOT at a specified time, on demand]; or worse...

suggesting that I didn't want to participate in the Secret Santa. You'd have thought I said, 'can the ladies please begin blowing me, beginning with you, there...'
