The British probe sent to Mars to test for soil samples has failed to communicate with its mother craft after plummeting (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/3344693.stm) to the red planets surface as it attempts to land. Some hope remains though, see story.

Very disheartening. Mars just keeps eating our probes. We have to find out if there is water in under its red sand and rock.
I hope we do make contact today, if not sooner, with the Beagle.

Mars just keeps eating our probes.
I vote we change it officially from the "red planet" to the "fatass planet".

Internet psychic: When they learn that the probe landed safely on the planet surface, some paper somewhere will have the following headline:
"The Beagle Has Landed!"
