What's up with major leaguers being shot in their home countries? Wasn't Richard Hidalgo shot last year also?

like most of you, I'm sure, I have an Ivan Calderon story:

Montreal, Quebec - It was mid-summer during the 1992 season when Mr. Calderon was with the Expos. One Dennis Martinez was on the mound and pitching a gem. In fact the opposing pitcher, Bob Tewksbury was putting in a fine effort as well. It was the 7th inning of a 0-0 ballgame when I decided it was time for a snack. I go to the concession stand and wait on line. All of a sudden I hear a big roar....what happened I thought? I soon came to realize that the ballgame was now 1-0 in favor of the Expos thanks to an Ivan Calderon solo homerun. I missed it. In fact, I missed the only action of the game as that would be the final score. Mr. Calderon you'll be forever in my heart.

Anybody remember way back, '86 I think, Chicago was playing Detroit, Calderon climbed up the wall in the outfield, stood on top of it and robbed a home run?

Wasn't he one of the real-life ballplayers in the game at the end of Naked Gun?

i just read an article where they feel he was killed 'execution' style. i guess for his sake it really doesn't matter how he was killed. the first thing that comes to my mind is 'drug related'...

That's odd, I just finished reading an article on how violent Puerto Rico is, and how the murder rate is more than 3X the US average, making it the most violent place in the USA.
