Im worried about being outsourced

The trend of businesses outsourcing their work out of our area and either in the midwest or overseas has me worried about the security of my future. If alot of companies move out of NY say, what will happen to all the people here? Im sure alot of people will follow the jobs and leave here, but what happens to the state if that happens? I fear we are becoming a society that has a transient workforce.
