I had to quit working with the little autistic girl that I worked with for three years because her mother is a neurotic nutcase. I was close with the family, but finally one day after dance class, she went nuts in front of all of the parents, kids, and teachers. I spent a weekend with very disturbed sleep patterns and many tears making the decision. When I called the consulting office, my boss said she didn't blame me because this parent is off of her rocker. To sum it up, it was the hardest and worst decision I've had to yet make in my life so far. I give you credit for doing what you did. It does feel good to stand up for yourself, but personally, I am still upset that I don't get to see the little girl and her sister anymore.

I left a job last July working front desk at a martial arts school. Poor pay, long hours, little respect from the boss. And still I knew I would miss certain parts of it, as I really enjoyed the little tiny children, the young ones, the adults and even most of the parents. Still it was a great feeling when the boss called me in to tell me I wasn't doing such a good job (even though he'd barely been showing up for months AND the place was earning more than it ever had) and I replied with my two weeks' notice.

About two weeks after that, I started temping at a company...already more money for less work hours and less days. Then I was hired full time.
