and the only thing that's helping right now is a big ol' slap of vaporub on, and then putting my shirt over my nose and taking deep hits.

I can't exactly taste colors, but I think I can remember what color my shirt was the first day of first grade.

go to your local hippie health food store and find this shit: quantum cold and flu formula. $18 for a oz bottle, but worth it.

they recommend taking a dropper full in a beverage, but real men throw a dropper into the back of their throats. 15 minutes of "real" relief, like your not even sick. but it will take the edge off your symptoms for about 2-4 hrs.

very highly recommended. seriouly, even if you take the nancy route and put it in a drink.

Ron complained about a cold or something and said he was through with cold medications.

I haven't taken anything for a cold in years; the vast majority of the stuff is about masking symptoms as oppsed to healing, and the discomfort of the cold has always been less then that wacked-out feeling a lot of this stuff gives you.

Might be a good buzz for some, it makes me feel like shit.

Someone mentioned a humidifier thingy. I have one of those uber-lo-tech vaporizers; looks like a bed pan, you put water in, and steam is shooting out a few mins later. Wow what a difference in my nasal passages whn I wake up. Waking up used to be coughing fits and crap. Not with this.

[Edit: Lemme jump in here real quick on the Vitamin C thing. Some peeps suggest megadoses of Viatmin C. 'Take 1,000 milligrams!'. Well thats a good does of vitamin C [weird how they don't just call it one gram.], and some try a bit more.

The result? Unless you build yourself up to 3-4 [or more, some take much more a day] grams a day, taking that much will result in many, if not most, experiencing what I can only delicately describe as Crippling Shits. Diarhea that can damage porclein.]
