i just wanted to send a rose or some nice to my friend. I have little to no cash. i found something i really wanted to get from flowers.com but they said b/c of the weather the item couldn't be shipped to RI which is where my friend is at.

I used to work in a florist..We usually would not deliver unless the order was over $20.00 . But being it is VDAY 2 roses may cost close to $25.00 so this may be a possibility.

Is there any other flower that would also be acceptable on Valentines Day? I have no problem buying roses, but why are only roses usually given?
I know its tradition but there are lots of other really nice flowers out there.
