To be honest, none of them excite me. I think Edwards or Clark could pull in some undecided moderates, especially in some southern States. If the election is as close as it was in 2000, just one of those Southern states going to Kerry would make the difference.

As much as I don't like his background as a trial lawyer, I respect Edwards as a politician, and I think he's got the potential for a brilliant career, so I would pick him, at this point in the cycle.

Edwards. But he should also try and get Clark as either Secretary of Defense or State. If he pulled that off and had Edwards as VP, I'd be willing to say Kerry winning might be a lock, unless something disastrous happens to his campaign.

I voted other. I'd like to see Micahel Dukakis on the ticket. And then Olympia Dukakis for Attnorney General. And Nic Cage for Secretary of State. And Cher for Ambassador to Pakistan and she could say to them, "Snap out of it!" Yeah!! U-S-A!!U-S-A!!U-S-A!!

I voted for Phil Graham, assuming you meant Bob Graham. I'm just thinking from a purely electoral perspective, because I think Graham would make Kerry a favorite in Florida, and that would be huge.

I was thinking Clark for Sec Def also. Why on Earth would John McCain want to be Kerry's VP? He has already denied rumors that he would run with Bush, so why would he take the greater risk by running with Kerry. McCain has some moderate leanings to him, but he is at least 80% Conservative and stands to gain nothing by becoming a Democratic Vice President.

He's going to ask Gephardt to lock up Ohio and the central US state, plus to take advantage of Gephardt's strong union base.

Gephardt may see this as his best chance for getting the number 1 spot down the road.

Anyone think there's some weight to the rumor Bush will drop Cheney in the next few months and pick up Giuliani as the new VP?

DOH!

I don't know why I can never get the man's name right. Yes, Bob Graham. Fixed it for the poll. I actually met someone from his office at a post holiday/pre-super bowl party, and Bob (who is retiring from the Senate) is hoping to be on the short list.

If Gore would have had him on instead of Lieberman there would have been no doubt in 2000, I believe.

He's going to ask Gephardt to lock up Ohio and the central US state, plus to take advantage of Gephardt's strong union base.

Gephardt may see this as his best chance for getting the number 1 spot down the road.

The union's aren't what they once were - look how their support of Gephardt brought him to a 4th place finish right out of the gate.

And as far as running again, I think he's done here. He's been running at it since 1988. Besides, he's got some skeletons in his closet, aside from going to Mojo's bookstore, I mean. The Republicans would really have a field day with him.

Anyone think there's some weight to the rumor Bush will drop Cheney in the next few months and pick up Giuliani as the new VP?

I think the more popular rumor is to drop Cheney and add Condolesa Rice to the ticket - Conservatives love her; they don't Rudy.

If we don't see Dicky C. out of there in the next month or so, I'm guessing that he's staying put. He is too good of a campaigner.

Agreed. IMO he totally outshined Lieberman in their one debate.

No, but I'd personally love this.

Strict conservatives are murmuring that Bush isn't a true conservative, so I don't think Bush would further jeopardize his support base by running with a socially liberal Giuliani.

Guiliani might be a serious contender for Republican nominee in 2008 if they can't convince Powell to run.

Forget the Condee rumors, though; this country isn't ready to accept a woman as vice-president or president, let alone a black woman.

Just did a quick look at the domain register websites and by far "KerryEdwards2004" is the most popular, with pretty much every"dot-whatever" taken up; even "KerryEdwards04."

The Deutsch family from New Jersey have cornered the market on many of them - Michael and Adrienna. They also own the rights to "KerryGephardt2004.com" and (without the year) "KerryGephardt.com." Somehow they decided against one with the the simplified "04" in it.

Meanwhile, Richard Morris down in Florida is squatting on "KerryDean.com," "KerryDean2004.com," "KerryClark2004.com" and "KerryClinton2004.com" hoping for some magic, I'm sure - of course he also was banking on "EdwardsKerry2004.com," and that ship isn't going to sail.

OH! Taking the "2004" and "04" out of the address, and we learn that "KerryClark.com" is owned by someone in Texas; "KerryClinton.com" is being advertised for sale by a guy in California, and "KerryEdwards.com" is actually taken by someone living in Indianapolis named "Kerry Edwards." Go figure!

Even "KerryWarner2004.com" and "KerryWarner04.com" are both gone - taken by two different people in Northern Virginia, where Democratic Gov, Mark Warner, could be an attractive second fiddle (I still think the Governors are where we have the best luck with the national office). One of the squatters appears to be an employee with Network Solutions, the place that generates most of these names, located here in VA.

And PROVING that I am not a complete moron out in left field who just makes shit up, "KerryMcCain2004.com" is already taken - by some dreamer out in California. Of course, he too may be a complete moron out in left field who just makes shit up, but come on...think about how cool and wacky that ticket would be?!

And finally...I know you were wanting to know..."KerrySharpton2004" is still available, as are "BigFloppyPenis.com" and "OldSaggyBreasts.com," both of which have as much a chance of being on a campaign bumpersticker as "KerryLieberman2004," which (alas) is not available - our buddy, Richard Morris in Florida, owns it.

So is "An Unknown" the guy from the gong show with the bag on his head?

I like the idea of a mysterious VP. I'm certainly not excited about any of the known candidates for VP (or Prez for that matter).

I want Clark, but I think Edwards will pull more votes in the South.
To win, Kerry will have to crack into the South, and what with the job losses in the Carolinas, Edwards helps most there, plus he'll whup ase in the debates.

My first choice, of course, was Foster Brooks.

I'm gonna ignore the horrible knockoff of the greatest character, nay poster, of all time.

The Washington Post has a way that you can pick your ideal running mate for Kerry. There's criteria that you can choose from and then find who fits the criteria. OK.....just look at it (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/elections/2004/veepomatic.htm?referrer=email)
