Okay, I never really noticed this about myself until someone pointed it out to me, and now that I'm aware of it, I realize how bad I really get. My friend has two cats and a dog, and apparently every time I see them, I start making baby noises. Like the kind of little taunt noises you'd make to an infant. I can't possibly type them out, so I'll assume you know what i mean. I also say things like "You know what you are? You're a dog." and "You're a good cat, yesh you are!" Wow, I'm such a faggot.

Having a pet sort of does change you this way. You feel....I don't know, more empathy or something.

I treat my 6 year old fox terrier like he's my child. I dote on him, and spoil him with toys & treats. But hey, that's within my rights, since I'm the alpha male and pampering my pooch is one of the benefits of being pack leader.

It's all part of being human. The majority of animals are either cute (ex: dogs...in which case making baby talk to them is completely OK), or delicious (ex: cows...for which reason God created steak houses), or useful (ex: cows, again...for which reason God created baseball gloves, shoes, belts, leather jackets, etc.).

I'm not a fan of cats, but I turn into an instant sentimental softie the minute I so much as think about my dog or get around any dog.

I talk to my cats all the time. They all have distinct voices. Alice sounds like Miss Piggy, Lloyd sounds like Baby Stewie from the Family Guy, and Otis talks in "pet speak" which is pigeon English with slavic sentence structure, as in:

"Mommy, I am not to be liking this food. This food is to be sucking."

skidmark got me hooked on "pet speak."

Anyway, you should have seen me when we went whale watching in Cape Cod. We were lucky and got to see dolphins and a bunch of whales feeding. It was a rare sight and I was acting like a retard! I kept clapping and yelling "Yea!!!" everytime I saw a dolphin or a whale.
