I agree with that, but it didn't sound like they were joking, or lying. They were semi-drunk (really the only reason I was listening) and Don was inviting R&F in to have a drink so they could all get along even though "you hate us because of the Opie and Anthony thing, and you're leaving in June. We all know you got the job in Jacksonville. what? are we not supposed to say that?"
Bullshit or not, I don't know, but it did catch my attention.

This comes from a VERY relaible source that just heard the news ten minutes ago:
Don and Mike were drinking in studio and obviously drunk when they had seen Ron and Fez. Don invited them in while commenting "Even though your going to Florida in June" and "Opps, I wasn't supposed to say that was I?".
This shouldn't surprise anyone, I have been personally telling people this for months now.

Hi, I'm new to the board and enjoy the Ron and Fez show greatly.
This is awful news!
It didn't sound like they were joking or making a jab at Ron and Fez. Like DeadpoolDen and Steels said, a drunk Don wanted Ron and Fez to come down to the studio for some drinks, that there were no hard feelings. Then he made the announcement and said that it was ok if Ron and Fez were planning to leave WJFK in June and head to Tampa Bay. Then Don said that he didn't know that this was supposed to be a secret, and it sounded like he was telling the truth.
I was hoping that they would stay in D.C., then get syndicated to NY and then Florida! :(

I think this is the best thing for them. 1st of all they never really wanted to leave NY & go to DC in the first place & 2nd they where very good in Fl. I think any place is good for them besides DC, look how depressed Fezzie got when he moved there, he will be closer to his family. so just lets be happy for them.. & ... wish them the best of luck & I bet they have a going away party in NY & not in Dc

Hi everyone.
I'm a big fan of the show and because of what I heard on D&M today I signed up here.
I've been IM'ing with Ron during the show and here is what he just told me:
ME: Ron, we'd really like to know if you guys are leaving for Tampa in June?
Ron and Fez: we have a few offers nothing is decieded, but I don't talk about business on the air.
So obviously something is up. Let's hope if they move we can still hear them here in the DC area.

As I have always said I want what is best for them - what make them the most successful and happiest, and if returning to Florida is what they need to do, then more power to them.
I am praying that this is part of their contract negotiation. Things freeing up in Tampa puts them in better footing with Infinity, who has treated them like shit. Tough to feel too optomistic, though.
Borrowing an "FU" page from O&A:
* Fuck Don for being a self-conscious prick; if they wanted to interact more with R&F they had more than a few opportunities the last year;
* Fuck anyone looking for a chance to gloat about DC losing them;
* Fuck anyone who takes this out on Ron and Fez for doing what's right for themselves.
The station has treated them like garbage, but DC hasn't. There will be many, many listeners here who really would miss them if they left.

Don and Mike and Ron and Fez on the same station would never work. I think we all knew that. It seemed from the begining there was too much tension because of the O and A Vs Don and Mike fandango a few years ago. Ron and fez had to side with O and A at the time.
I would want to move too, get away from all those egos. Do there own show without all the past mess they went through.
All the radio shows are fun, why bother to pick sides. Get on with your own life.

As much as I love the show and enjoy listening to the show the way I do. I wish nothing but the very best for Ron and Fez. If they're calling takes them to Florida and it brings them to greater heights than I wish them nothing but the very best. I sure hope I can still hear them wherever they end up. Granted I would love to hear them either on NY airwaves or on Satellite, but ultimately whatever brings them the most success is what I hope for the most.

I agree with the others who wish them the best in whatever they choose to do. If they are syndicated out of Fl or on Satellite we will all be abel to listen to them. I was hoping that they would end up with O&A so we could have some of the great R&F/O&A shows we've had in the past. Those guys get along great and seemed to really have FUN when they were together on the air. We have been fortunate to have been able to listen to them via the S.U. and I'm sure we'll still hear them one way or another. They deserver to be happy after all of the bullshit they have been through the last couple of years and all of the double shift torture that they have gone through.

i'll check the link above in a minute , but i thought this quote summed up the "whole radio situation" at the moment:
Do you think Clear Channel can handle the boys? They seem a little to puritanical, especially now with the FCC stuff.
i thought the fcc was pushing to get edgy radio off the free airwaves and on to subscription services, like cable tv. hosts would have free reign, but that's just my opinion.

Whatever's best for R&F, that's all that matters in the end.
If they choose to leave DC/VA, so be it. We loved 'em while we had 'em, and those of us that have been fans since day one will stick with them no matter where they go.
I'll be curious to see what actually happens...I'm kinda wary about them ending up with Clear Channel with how they're cracking down on their own DJ's these days. The LAST thing they need is that kind of drama, no matter where they are at the time.
And yes, Don's a complete chode for this. I didn't completely hate D&M before, but this just sent them flying over THAT hurdle. Go to Hell, Boo-Boo.

Shit.
Don and Mike suck. I don't believe it was an "accident". Don is a whiney ass boy who cries whenever he doesn't get his way. He's probably thrilled at the idea that he'll have no viable threat to his being the "star" of the station.
If R&F move, I'll miss them, but hope that wherever they go, it's what they really want. Course now DC radio will completely suck.

I do have to say that since I started listening to R&F, about 6 months, my tv is off from 7-10. It's definately the smartest show in radio and helluva lot better than the crap coming down the pipe from broadcast tv.
I tried to listen to Don and Mike on days my commute home starts early, but they're so hackneyed, it's revolting. Bland "bad" boys vying for mass appeal, losing any uniqness in the process. There's nothing relevant about them.

"One door closes and another one opens"
Unfortunately for Ron and Fez, the door to happiness here in D.C. has been deadbolted shut from day one by Cameron Gray. His nefarious (behind the scenes) activities to drive the boys crazy and off JFK have finally been realized. Now the door is freely open for his pals in crime from the Hideout.....OH HAPPY DAY!
So don't say a word, femboy (Tommy Bats).......you don't know who you're messin' with.

Well the most important thing is hopefully that previous poster is correct and they have other offers. Because in this volatile climate, thats all that matters! That they have a gig. As long as the show is still around, we always have hope for the future no matter where it ends up next. The boys will always have our interstate support thanks to the internet and dedicated listeners such as Steels.

I hate all those calls where people say 'I used to listen to you guys when you were on in Florida.' With so many people in Florida who listened to them when they were in Florida, those are bound to increase.

Hopefully a move to FL will benifit New Yorkers more (although travel distance may be a problem) but if they DO move there and NOT back to NY, it's better FL than anywhere else.
Also, when June rolls around, I'd MUCH rather see R&F with Clear Channel then with Infinity, even if they STAY in DC. Inifinty are the guys that left they half fucked over (I still have that other half of respect because Ron and Fez stayed in New York for those 5 extra months).
Anyway, as a couple of others said in this thread, where ever their careers bring them, I'd be happy for them.

This is fucked up (if it happens). Hopefully, if they do go to sat., it'll be the same system as O&A (instead of having to get sirius & xm). Or hopefully SU will cover both. Did Ron & Fez say anything on their show about this or was this just Don & Mike?
What is this SU you speak of? Very strange...

So basically thye point is this. For those of us old N.Y. listeners, as long as they leave D.C, the show improves. If they go to Tampa. it would be with Clear Channel and internet simulcast. If they go to Sat. they probably broacast from N.Y. Plus the added bonus of losing some of the D.C callers. Sounds like a win, win. If RandF and Oand A are on Sirius, I would probably take it over Stern on XM.

Ok...again...before bridges get burned by people getting a little too over excited, it could be a negotiating move. I remember very clearly The Sports Junkies were all set to jump ship to DC-101 when their contract expired a few years ago (a Clear Channel station here in DC), and their agent was able to use that to get more money and respect out of Infinity - the same agent as Ron and Fez. Before some people get too excited or too depressed, wait and see what happens. June is not that far away.
It ain't over until ya hear "Your Mom's Box."

There really should have been more "good riddance" posts in regards to NYC and the listeners there when they moved to DC.
Oh, that's right. That's a dick move.
A fan is a fan, assholes.
Losing the show anywhere (Even if being able to listen on the 'net) is rough on a fan, ANY fan, bad caller or not. You'd think the people who already lost the show once would "get" that a little quicker. Being a bad caller doesn't make anyone any less of a fan or loyal listener of the show.

Lots of DC listeners (callers who have been listening 2 months and call in with whacked out right wing opinions) don't know what show they are losing. The show in New York is an entirely different show than the show in DC. The proof of this will be in the response of the listeners when it's official. I doubt we will see any campaigns or skywriting.

So what? If they leave, we had the show here for, what, a year, tops? Everything else was either not live or overnight.
Again, a fan is a fan. It's really, REALLY lousy that OTHER fans here don't give a shit how people will regret losing R&F, just because those people are "newer fans."
They have gotten plenty of new fans since moving to WJFK, and those fans love the show regardless of what it was like ANYWHERE else, and I'm sure lots of these people will miss the boys and the show if they take off. Who CARES what you think they "missed out on?" Again, a fan is a fan. This whole "who cares about the DC listeners" sentiment is REALLY unecessary and pathetic. If they listen and enjoy listening, isn't that all that matters?

Ive been listening to RnF since winter of 2000, and as a listener i could tell they were so happy in NYC, #1 market, making friends getting better ratings. i fell sorry for RnF, WJFK have been horrible when it comes to RNf, and i dont know why. They dont seem as happy and now they have to go back to FL. that has to hurt them.
But whatever happens i wish rnf the best and thank them for the great radio.and i hope they dont give up on big markets like NY and DC. Also, OnA owe RnF big time so maybe OnA can put in a good word to their new station and get RnF a gig too.
hopefully this is just negotiating strategy to get syndicated or more money or whatever.
Infinity makes no sence to me in the fact that they havent syndicated RnF to Fl and NY. what a horrible company.

alright d.c.
it's time to pull a NY and start a "bring ron and fez back to D.C." thread.
i'm obviously joking, we can see how successful that thread was.
NY need to lay off on saying how lame dc callers are. so is everyone in a Chris Rock audience as funny as chris rock? people call in with what they think is funny, trying to participate to the show. hell, they have to go through a screener. so if anyone, blame the screener for giving them the green light to go on the air. we all know every caller cant be "radio gold" like they are in NY. (i dont hate ny, just stating how they seem like bitter babies. i'm from NY)
personally, being in dc now, the move really sucks. but on the other hand, its good to know fez is going to be closer to his family. i know he'll like that move the best. and thats undebatable. so all is justified.
good luck guys.

I just heard the drunken Don & Mike audio clip that mentioned Ron & Fez moving to Tampa in June.
Observations:
1. Why should anyone else on WJFK kiss Don's ring? After all, Don doesn't own the radio station, he just works there like all the other employees. Not even Stern in his egomania expects this kind of ass-kissing.
2a. Why is it a grave insult to decline an offer of drinking absynthe on the Don & Mike show? Ron is a recovering addict, why should he put himself in such a situation?
2b. I heard Don call into the Ron & Fez show before, and I hear Ron & Fez on the D&M show before. Every time it's a very uncomfortable scene and bad radio. Don's ego is so enormous, it is comedy poison. Neither show is served by guesting on the other show. Ron & Fez diminish their own value by being on the Don & Mike show, and they should stay off.
3. Why is Don bringing up Ron & Fez siding with O&A? Ron & Fez have stayed remarkably neutral when it came to the O&A / D&M feud. Ron & Fez could've attacked D&M very easily, and didn't (save for a handful of funny remarks).
Don is starting on Ron & Fez for no reason other than wanting to be a big, important man. For shame.

Don and MIke can't get along with anyone. They use to be friends with liddy and first chance they got they back stab the man and treated him like shit. Same with OnA same with RnF . Don's ego is the size of his bald spot, THe reason WJFK is sinking like a brick is because of Don and his ego. he also said OnA didn't want anyone else on the station but them. but it's more the other way around. Yes I will miss RnF so much, but I can't blame them at all. WJFK won't give them middays makes them work 2 shifts and treats them like crap. With the money DnM make it's sicking how much they're paid. I'm glad the ratings for them are down and everything, but Don will blame everything else but him. HE would say a good lead in doesnt matter if you got a good show, now he bitches about his lead in. ha ha what a tool

Aren't R & F being brought back down to FL to do mornings? So for anyone who wants to listen to them online live if they move, plan on sitting by your computer every morning from 6am to 10am.
For me personally, that is going to be impossible, I'd rather have them at nights here in DC. But SU will lessen our pain, especially if that Goggle mail gets up and running.

This is a very odd situation for every DC listener/member. I don't understand the attitude around here. I can see the "Whats good for the show" point, but what I don't get is the constant negative attitude towards DC callers and listeners. Also, when RnF left NY it was the worst thing in the world. Now its "good for the show". Bullshit.
I don't remember many people mentioning it could be good for the show if they left NY. This is an act for everyone to hide their true feelings. 95% of the current board won't sit at their computer to listen to the show. Losing that much of a fan base surely isn't good for anyone around here.
The SU will surely help but its simply not going to be the same and just about everyone won't hear the show.

From what I understood was that Don was made a program manager to appease him (because he was increasingly unhappy with O&A). Since Don already decides on the content of his own show, the title was meaningless.

Don was PD before O&A were even in DC. He was never general manager.
He made some crucial decisions about the station during his time, one of which was bringing O&A to DC. He might have even had a hand in putting Ron and Fez on at night's here, but that may have still be Jeremy Coleman, before he went to NY.
For a bit of an oversimplafied timeline - Don and Mike had been promised a gig in Philadelphia for over 5 years by Ken Stevens. When they finally went on, about a year after O&A had been cleared there on WYSP, Opie railed and railed on the air against D&M. Don and Mike kept quiet. A few months later Don (as the official PD) is interviewed by The Washington Post (a newspaper that has spent 15 years trashing D&M), and tried to give a good spin on the lousy ratings O&A were getting in DC (from 1st to 18th in less than a year). The newspaper (not Don) makes the tragic error of abreviating "The Opie and Anthony Show" as simply "The Opie Show," and O&A rave out on Don again, claiming that OBVIOUSLY the hometown newspaper is on Don and Mike's side - and again D&M kept quiet.
About a month later Don quit being PD. This happened about a week or two before the two shows cross- erupted all over each other, because Don and Mike dared to finally respond to the verbal spankings they were getting on O&A (who knows what really went on behind the scenes - we can only speculate that all of these radio millionaers just couldn't get past their egos, etc).
His quitting had nothing to do with Opie and Anthony, and had everything to do with general Infinity bullshit frustration.
I'm sure I'm wrong on some tiny facts (it's been over 2 years now, mothafuckahs! GEEEEESH!), but by and large O&A didn't do well in DC and D&M didn't do well in NY - the two shows might have been able to coexist in Philly, but it becamse a moot point because O&A got fired and it had nothing to do with Don and Mike, even if they took some sort of glee in it.
Today D&M are on in about 30 markets - most are small, but they are on in DC, Baltimore, Vegas, Dallas, San Francisco and some others - and they claim that when their contract expires in 2 or 3 years they will retire, and it's tough not to believe them considering how mind-numbing boring and coasting they have become. Don has said he wants to get back into the managment of radio stations, etc.
As I have said now two or three times: this could be part of the negotiation ploy on Ron and Fez's part.
WJFK is coming out making it look like they could let Ron and Fez cut and run. They have exorcised them from the main bumpers, along with O'Reilly; they seem to be giving them a freeze out.
However - WJFK and Infinity knows what they have in Ron and Fez. If they can see value in The Sports Junkies, then of course they can see value in Ron and Fez!
Ron and Fez need to also play it closer to the vest; there are openings at stations in Florida. The ONLY FUCKING WAY they are EVER going to get more money out of Infinity is if someone else appears interested.
You have to wonder, unless it's a morning show again for a lot more money, would Ron and Fez really WANT to abandon a top 7 market where they are settled? In a perfect world, they would be in New York and syndicated nationally, however, in lew of that, they are in DC and there is a recent history that they actually chose Washington OVER Florida, when push came to shove.
If Infinity can make them a sweet deal, give them some respect, along with some money, and show interest in supporting and promoting them, they will stay put.
And no one knows this better than Don, who has done walk outs multiple times in the last few years over trying to get contracts settled. And in a weird way, in Don's big fat radio-insider head, he might think he's doing Ron and Fez a favor by floating this story out there (under the guise of being drunk - from other accounts he had sobered up by that point in the show), knowing full well the reaction it could have with the Ron and Fez listeners.
Ahhhhh...the many crazy layers of speculation!

So going from NYC to DC to Jacksonville is a Good Thing?? :( Is the radio market bigger in Jacksonville than DC or even NY??
As for the people that say, they'll be joining with O&A in June- Are you telling me that Ron and Fez need to be riding someone elses coat tails? That they couldn't make it on their own??
What's next after Jacksonville??? Cleveland??/ Anchorage???? Guam????
But if it'll make them happy returning to their Roots, Good Luck and much success in the future.

Surprise - I have more to add...
Why should anyone else on WJFK kiss Don's ring? After all, Don doesn't own the radio station, he just works there like all the other employees. Not even Stern in his egomania expects this kind of ass-kissing.
As SFK said, D&M make a lot of money for the station - at one time more than Stern. The station makes more money than other stations that get better ratings, and a hefty, hefy chunk of that is on the backs of Don and Mike who really do reach more than just the hillbillies people think only live in Northern Virginia.
Ron & Fez diminish their own value by being on the Don & Mike show, and they should stay off.
That's simply horse shit. Ron and Fez can, and should, go on (or not go on) any show THEY want to. No one knows what makes Ron and Fez funnier than Ron and Fez.
Ron & Fez have stayed remarkably neutral when it came to the O&A / D&M feud. Ron & Fez could've attacked D&M very easily, and didn't (save for a handful of funny remarks).
Don carries a grudge, and it's still clear that Ron and Fez have a connection to O&A that Don picks up on. The straw that broke whatever's whatever was last fall, though, when they went to New York. Also Norton on WYSP trashing D&M reignited their pettiness.
Don and MIke can't get along with anyone. They use to be friends with liddy and first chance they got they back stab the man and treated him like shit.
I agree with the first part, but they were never really friends with him Liddy, and Liddy is (quite honestly) an asshole too.
Same with OnA same with RnF . Don's ego is the size of his bald spot.
Don is not the only one who danced those dances two years ago - O&A's egos are pretty incredible too (didn't Ant threaten to close down a message board of FANS for talking about his chick???) I'm sorry, any radio show that claims to "Always Win IN The End" has a pretty ego - that's right up there with "Talent on loan from god."
(And before people jump on D&M, their "Radio Gods" slogan is a goof on Stern's "King of all Media," which of course was originally a goof on Michael Jackson's "King of Pop")
THe reason WJFK is sinking like a brick is because of Don and his ego. he also said OnA didn't want anyone else on the station but them. but it's more the other way around.
Bull shit. Explain that one through. Don and Mike have said for the last year that WJFK needs to put Ron and Fez on from 11-3, and dump O'Reilly. I have tuned in irregularly in the last year, and I still hear D&M bashing O'Reilly and praising Ron and Fez.
Don and Mike want what's best for them and what's best for them is a decent WJFK lineup. They supported The Junkies; they even gave half ass support to The Greaseman when he followed them; the supported Stern, until they got involved with O&A, who they also supported up until about a month before it all went south.
Meanwhile, O&A have a record of chaising shows off of THEIR station.
WJFK won't give them middays makes them work 2 shifts and treats them like crap.
The fault with that rests with O'Reilly who is the only show that improved at WJFK with the last book - 64 or 67 percent, in fact.
With the money DnM make it's sicking how much they're paid.
They make that much money because they make that much more money for the station. It's a pretty easy equation.
I'm glad the ratings for them are down and everything, but Don will blame everything else but him. HE would say a good lead in doesnt matter if you got a good show, now he bitches about his lead in.
Ok, I won't defend Don and his blame game (especially not with such a seasoned Don and Mike hater/trasher - I can almost see the crib notes you borrowed from Opie), but I have also noticed that more often than not they have taken responsibility for doing crappy in the ratings. They did that with New York, and they did that with Philly. They did say with both times that if they had more time, bl

I dont see what the point is arguing and yacking on and on about DnM and OnA fighting years ago, who cares get over it, no matter who was right who was wrong, who started what, WHO CARES. get the f over it, i dont see what that has to do with the here and now, besides the fact that don proved to everyone that hes a true dick in letting this info get out b4 RnF got to tell their listenrs.
That point is simple and undebatable, Don was wrong in that , what this was to to w stuff that happend 2 years ago, i dont know.
full disclosure- DnM are boring and unfunny, OnA, Rnf were and are funny and interseting.
And as far as i remember when DnM first came to NYC i remember clearly that OnA didnt bash them they told their listeners to give DnM a chance and listen, i know i tried but could never get into their humor.

Latest on O&A, BTLS, & R&F
From 98Rock in Tampa; it's officail filling the morning for the departed Bubba the Love Sponge is The Monsters. The Monsters where moved from the mi-days to fill Clear Channel slots for the Stern Show.
If Bubba Love Sponge does have a satellite radio deal locked up, where better to break the news than on HBO? The morning man in search of a new radio home is scheduled to appear on HBO's On The Record With Bob Costas Friday night at 11:00 pm eastern. While he's almost certain to talk about his record-setting indecency fine and subsequent dismissal by Clear Channel, will he also spill the beans on his next move? Bubba has pitched his show to both XM and Sirius, but many think Sirius has the inside track on the show. HBO re-runs the Costas show several times, which would certainly provide a nice platform for promoting any announcement.
O&A at XM
Meanwhile, check out this photo of radio's other most-likely-to-crossover-to-satellite show. Originally posted at DCRTV.com, it shows Opie & Anthony posing in front of a rather large XM logo, presumably at XM headquarters in Washington DC. O&A's contract with Infinity expires in June, and the duo have been romantically linked with both satellite radio companies.

I don't want to be a dick, but none of those were that newsworthy, and none of it mentioned Ron and Fez, unless you wanted to do more connect the dots speculatin.'
The real latest news was mentioned in another thread that got locked.
Clear Channel denies R&F rumors (http://www.ronfez.net/messageboard/viewmessages.cfm/Forum/46/Topic/38292/page/Clear_Channel_denies_R_F_rumors)
Radio and Records - under "Street Talk" (http://www.radioandrecords.com/Subscribers/TodaysNews/homepage.htm)
To his credit, it was posted by Mr. Radio, someone I've slammed for having a one sided agenda, and I stand corrected as he has proven to be both fair AND balanced in his continuing Ron and Fez to Florida coverage - if he could only keep it in one thread!

Quick correction for Curtoid. I remeber when the bad blood between O&A and D&M began and it was way before O& A went on in Philly. D&M started doing nights on NEW in NY. The lineup was O&A afternoons, D&M nights, R&F overnights. D&M, however, could not pull up their ratings in NY. Don went on the air and said that the reason why his show was tanking in NY was because they were on delay (afternoons in DC, but nights in NY). Don then said that the best strategy for NEW was to move O&A to nights and give D&M their afternoon spot, even though O&A were No. 1 in the slot and kickin' ass on a biblical scale. He also accused O&A of working behind the scenes to give R&F their night slot.
No revisionist. history. Don started this mess. Now he can play in his JFK sandbox alone.

That was actually during a time when I was listening pretty often, and I never heard that. Not that I'm going to say you're wrong, except that I remember the year that Don and Mike were tape delayed at nights in New York as them just being happy to be on in New York and working with O&A to get listeners to tune in.
I never heard anything on the air of Don suggesting that they move O&A and R&F. Lord knows I've been wrong before - I'd like to hear audio, if someone has access to the D&M "Fight Club," of Don making those claims, and what context they were in (ie: was he obvioulsy joking, etc?).
What I do know was, since then, the rumor mill about both shows have been in over-drive with who said what about who to who, etc. And listening here in DC, towards the end of that failed "hot talk" experiment, Opie and Anthony often complained about the Don and Mike lead in in New York, while The Sports Junkies (nights here in DC) NEVER mentioned one thing about their ratings slipping once O&A joined WJFK.
I had stopped listening to D&M during that time, so I dont' know if they blamed the several morning show abortions on WNEW for their failure there, or if they just blamed Opie and Anthony for throwing them "under the bus."
O&A and D&M were both ego-maniacal cancers, and somehow what has happened since 2002 all managed to work itself out to where they all belong (theyall got what they deserved), in a weird way, even if their idiot fans (on both sides) feel the need to fight moronic battles on behalf of four millionaeres in their 40s! Thankfully, Ron and Fez have been able to (knock on wood) survive this nonsense, unlike the many of the other NEW employees who lost their jobs.
My real motivation isn't to make excuses or condone or celebrate Don and Mike - because I have some historical knowledge of WJFK, I often find myself as a D&M Apologist, which coudln't be further from my interntions.
As I have often said, I have no problem with people hating Don and Mike, just don't be a dumb lemming about it and puke up bullshit that gets regergitated out there - there are plenty of valid reasons for loathing them, and yet the examples people give have a freshness date of over 2 years old, which simply means to me that these are bored internet kids with an agenda to protect O&A.
My motivation for taking the time (time and time and time fucking again) has always been (a)because this is a Ron and Fez board (the only one, in fact), not an annex of one of the half dozen Opie and Anthony message boards; (b) The Ron and Fez Show is based out of Washington; (c) many of the Washington listeners of Ron and Fez might also listen to Don and Mike; (d) not all listeners to radio shows listen for 4 hours and go to message boards; and (e) if we learned anything from O&A vs. D&M, the only thing more pathetic than a "radio war" is a "radio war" between two shows on the same god damn station - and don't give me the shit that it was all don, and that O&A were blameless.
I have already stated that what Don did was bullshit, and I said "fuck him" about what he said. However, since Ron and Fez have taken themselves above the fray, and have decided not to discuss it, much less trash D&M, while they are negotiating their contract (even mentioning Buzz the very next day on the air, in a postive tone), those that really claim to be Ron and Fez listeners/fans should follow their example.

actually, the Sports Junkies did in fact complain about having O&A as their lead in instead of D&M. Whenever the ratings came in, they would complain and remind everyone about how they went from having the #1 rated show as their lead in to whatever number O&A were. (#18?)

"Whenever the ratings came out...'
I'd like to hear this tape; thinly veiled comments every once in awhile aside (I'll give you that they might have said that in passing once or twice), O&A and the Junks have the same agent (same as R&F), and numerous times the Junks would praise O&A.
Again, this was at a time when I listened often to the Junks and they never struck me as O&A bashers. In fact, by the end of their run at WJFK, before Infinity gave them the morning spot, they were through with D&M, even during the "wars." They could hardly be painted as being in one camp or another.

The basis of the whole feud between DM and OA was that OA got the deal the DM always wanted and they got it right away...with huge success. Eventually DM got pushed out of their timeslot for OA, they did what DM always wanted to do and walked all over DM while doing it. DM moved to middays and their show tanked everywhere but DC when they had the loyal listeners. Then OA got taken down (a victory for DM although they had nothing to do with it). They had another chance at Philly (YSP listener here) in drivetime but they blew it. I liked DM on middays and I never really got the sense the OA hated them. Just jabs once in a while that you only really got if you listened to both shows. After DM tanked in Philly I guess they gave up and are now just coasting. Isn't radio fun ?

Yup - that sums up what was at the root to it. Both shows did well in one city and not the other, but Philly (with Stern in the AM) they had a chance.
Two corrections - the two shows HATED each other, and Philly was the one place they really tanked in. They get great ratings elsewhere around the country, including Sacremento (one of the top two markets in the country as far as billing ads goes), where they might even be bigger than DC. They are also huge in Baltimore.
Since I've been talking with them the last day on here, I listened this afternoon and they took phone calls from Canada, San Francisco, Wisconsin and Vegas, and none from DC. And I believe they are in Dallas, Buffalo and a few others.

am I not supposed to say that?
Don is a hateful turd. He just can't say anything supportive of anyone who's not in HIS studio during HIS timeslot. What a paranoid backstabbing lil fat F. I have listened to them for at least 12 years. I have come to realize that Mike is an intolerant, bigoted egocentric blowhard and Don is just an ignorant, self-centered bully that never grew past a fart joke . That said, what really irks me is that they can't seem to get it past their thick egos that one can like Bill O'Rielly, G Gordon Liddy, Rush, O and A, Ron and Fez AND their show. Why must they dump on everyone else, and therefore everyone else's listeners? I'm 44. I'm not a "skateboarder" I think O and A are the funniest thing on radio. I'm not some gun-toting, Ralph Reed quoting beltway turd, but I loved G Gordon. I'm not a KILL BILL Clinton-hater, but I like Rush from time to time. I alter my work schedule to listen to Ron and Fezzy. I dig the Greaseman... I sometimes can't stand Don and Mike, but I've listened since 92, almost everyday. I wish they'd get that thru their bloated heads and support the crowd. To be honest, if it wasn't for whats on either side of their show, coupled with rush hour traffic doldrums, I don't think they'd be so high and mighty. Selfish pukes

When they were first put on in nyc i hoped they would be great radio like ona and rnf and i wanted them to be, i gave them 3 months of my life and god what a waste. too hateful and dull for me

FROM DCRTV.COM:
R&F To Stay At JFK - 5/17 - There have been rumors-a-plenty that Ron and Fez might soon be leaving WJFK-FM for a radio gig in Tampa or Orlando. However, DCRTV now hears that the duo will be staying right where they are. R&F are heard on 106.7 from 11 AM to noon and from 7 PM to 11 PM.....

If the rumors are true, and they resigned with Infinity, then they are not going to go satelite since Infinity doesn't do that. It would be a great solution, to either put them on line legally, or over the satelite, but for whatever reason Infinity needs to see someone else create the business model first, successfully, before they copy and replicate it.
NOW...onto the subject of Don and Mike...I was made to defend their actions more than once in here, which is fine; as JFK historian, I'm fine with that. I'm not going to say "I told you so" because, quite honestly, I didn't know anything more than any one else did - I was just hopeful. I was also trying to be realistic, and even the best deal in Florida didn't seem like something that would trump what they had here, but again...that is my opinion.
Now that it looks like they might be staying, I'm back to reading between the lines again, this time with an eye towards D&M.
For three days in a row, that I know if, Don and Mike have mentioned Ron and Fez, in different contextes. Today there was the conversation with Jefe, where Don was very complimentary of Ron and Fez, and how Jefe is really getting in his dues by learning from all the talent around him; yesterday I caught the show for just a few minutes, and again Ron and Fez were the topic - this time about the "Johnsonville Braut" commercial that was airing that R&F did, that was produced badly - Don and Mike did pretty much a whole segment to the spot, how the production sucked, and Wendell came in to; while they ragged on the production, they made sure to point out it was nothing reflective of R&F. Then, I heard from someone on here who heard Friday's show, that Ron and Fez got mentioned again on Don and Mike, this time with Don (once again) mentioning Fez's real name, in what I believe was a humorous context of his own fake radio name (Don, for whatever reason, loves to out fake radio names - from "Spoon," to Jefe to Fez, but he always does it by pointing out his own real name).
All of this chatter about R&F on Don and Mike seems (to me) to reflect a change on D&M's part; now that they KNOW that Ron and Fez are going to be part of the station, they want to get back on track in developing the synergy WJFK is craving.
ANYWAY...it's just me reading way too much into things, I'm sure. I just know that I hear D&M twice in two days, and hear them mentioning Ron and Fez, when I know I could have listened for two full weeks not that long ago and not heard shit.
Ron and Fez are stand up, company men that deserve to be treated better by the other talent at the station, not to mention the managment. HOPEFULLY, with a sign of commitment from WJFK to them, and from them to WJFK, any ugliness can be put behind them.
All they keep saying is that they want to get along with everyone - hopefully now "everyone" is finally ready to believe them!

what benefit would Ron and Fez get by going to any satelite radio company, its not like they run a completly filthy show and are being held back because of languge, why do so many people want them on satelite, at least it feels like alot it could be just the same couple of people over and over, were Ron and Fez really that good of freinds with O and A , i have had good freinds at some of my jobs but once they leave or i leave we really have nothing in common, woulndt this apply to R and F

I agree that R&F run a clean show so they don't necessarily need to be satellite for that reason, however they do get the chance to be heard around the country including to markets where they once broadcast.

alphamale

No. They already alluded to their previous April fools gags, and assured everyone it was not a gag. Besides that, you can check XM's web page for info. It's all there. The price of an XM sub will increase from 9.99 to 12.95 a month because of a few extra channels which were premium channels before, (which I think is horsecrap for an excuse anyway) but they're also going to be losing the $3.00 charges for streaming all XM content on the web.
I guess they expect people to believe they're saving money that way, by getting what used to cost extra, but to me, it sounds like a scam. I mean, if you're putting more shows on the regular channels, that should be their business, and not affect the price of a sub. And the way I see it, if people want to pay for them to stream the show, that should be their prerogative, and not be forced into having it, when "free" isn't really free at all.

"we're getting the band back together" Opie (yesterday)
"your mom's box" ronnie (last week)
Also, O&A have been using R&F signature "HOO-AH" sound effect...die hard fans of both shows know that all of this cannot be a coincidence.
Anthony did do the family feud "X" sound effect when I expected people to be instant feedbacking with "ron and fez", but it has to be them.
Ferrall is one more person to "High Voltage"..that's not a band. The AFRO show is a band. Ron and Fez might get afternoons (east coast) and middays pacific, but they would get headlines and radio people could check them out on a national level, which is why talk shows (G Gorden Liddy, Dr Laura, Stern, etc) are going to satelite.
R+F, but they are really only known in areas they were on in (NY, DC, Baltimore, Florida) just like O&A were really only known in the markets they were in (NY, Boston, Cleveland, Philly, DC...even though DC ratings for them sucked)
Ronnie was on the last show on WNEW on 8-22-02 and I think they will be together again, otherwise both shows wouldn't have dropped hints within days of each other.
This thread says that Ron and Fez are leaving JFK in June...is the florida station an infinity station? does anyone know when their contract with Infinity specifically ends?

Oh, come on.
You take nearly every post about people being happy R&F are potentially moving to XM, or being heard again in NYC, and try and twist it into something "anti-DC." Outside of Alkey's one post, nobody has actually done that in the flurry of discussion that was come up since the "your mom's box comment," despite your best efforts to see it as such.
No matter how much it seems to bother you, people get excited when it seems possible they'll be able to hear R&F "legit" again on their radio.
Everyone else="Man, R&F going to XM would be cool!"
What Curtoid hears="FUCK DC! DC SUCKS!!!"
It's great you're so passionate about the show here, but it's a bit hypocritical that you twist most comments about R&F's radio future as somehow being "anti-DC" when you also seemingly go out of your way to jump on any speculation going on in a number of threads.
It's not the end of the world if they leave DC. As long as I can still hear them, I don't care WHERE they are.
Let's just all relax and calm down. We don't need to ALWAYS make these speculation threads into some kind of "us vs. them" battle, whether it's over O&A, D&M, WJFK or whatever. In the end, we're all fans of the show.

I for one would be very Happy to listen to R & F on XM. It is not a slam on DC. In fact I love DC. I go there at least once a year just to visit on top of the few times I have to attend meetings there. But fact remains there are alot of fans that cannot listen to the boys.
I have been a fan for along time as have others and we miss being able to here them on the radio. At least with XM I can here them where ever I go.
That may being selfish. So be it.

What Curtoid hears="FUCK DC! DC SUCKS!!!"
Bullshit. Stop painting in generalities of "EVERY" post I say is about this or that. I was obviously reacting to Alkey's comment, but again you prove my point that I'm the only one not allowed a pass for making a random comment - where were you when others got THEIR nose out of joint over a joke I made about Florida and R&F???
Hypocrite.
I have posted time and again that I'd love R&F to be heard by as many people as possible, including if they make the move to XM. More often than not I bend over backwards to make neutral comments, because I know some people are waiting to pounce on anything.
However, because I post what I think will happen (not to be confused with what I hope will happen) - which is that there is plenty of interest in R&F when they became free agents that they will have multiple offers, and that they will go with XM or Sirius only if they are allowed to be on terestrial as well - I am the killjoy.
Fine.
At least I can settle for the fact that Washington has won the World Series more recently than the Cubs.

Curtoid, it comes across that you want to prove everyone else is wrong when they speculate about R&F's radio future.
Whether that's true or not, that's pretty much the general perception, and why there are so many seemingly "hostile" responses to your posts on these matters.
That's the bottom line. It's probably not the case, but for whatever reason, that's how most people take your replies.
A large part of that is that it seems when almost anyone openly speculates about R&F's future, you can be counted on to make an appearance and almost always counter what was said. Whether or not it's purposely antagonistic, that's how it's coming across.
I'm not saying that IS what you're doing...that's just how it's taken.

I happen to agree with the idea of them being able to broadcast locally wherever they do their show, and also having it broadcast nationally on Satellite is something I would like to see for them, as well as for O&A someday.
I know from flipping around on XM that Sean Hannity's radio show is on XM, but it's also on regular radio, along with lots of personalities such as Al Franken, Limbaugh, etc.

The only way i can listen is through what is posted in the file library so has any of this stuff been talked about on the air?

Well, as a lurker, I thought that Mojo's perceptions were dead on.. and he went out of his way to not make it a personal affront towards you. It seems your sometimes encyclopedic knowledge of the happenings at JFK must make you feel that any discussion of this sort, without your 2 cents, is wholly incomplete. While if that were only to occur from time to time, might be regarded as a sage of sorts. When it constantly happens, you can be misconstrued as a snotty know it all.
Just an astute, unbiased observation

i really hope that means ron and fez are going to be aired on xm soon.

Curtoid, Mojo is right. You are very combative when anyone has a dissenting argument, and rather than listen to both sides, you are adamant that you are always right, and then you effectively cut and paste people's quotes and try to use their wordage against them. You'll write long diatribes, trying to weaken them, because instead of trying to respond, they'll just give up on it.

Awesome - third "Curtoid Pile On" in 3 weeks, and by the same cast of characters.
~~:-(
Nope - no hypocracy here.
I'll believe that the boys are going to satellite when I hear their voices coming from the speakers hooked up to my Sirius or XM receiver. Until then you guys sounds like children speculating on whether or not Santa will bring your a pony for Christmas.
"Hey, when I asked mom if I could have a cookie and she said, 'nay.' She could've said, 'no,' but she said, 'nay,' and that sounds just like 'neigh,' which is the sound a pony might make!"
I agree with KOP that a simulcast is the most likely scenario for them to be heard on satellite. However, I wouldn't eliminate the possibility of them jumping to a satellite-only broadcast. I don't get the feeling that Ron really wants to move his family again. A simulcast would be the best solution if that is the case. If, however, Ron would rather live in NY and the offer to move to satellite was lucrative enough, I could see them doing that. I, like everyone else on here, want the boys to be happy and do the best show they can do. Conversely, we all have our own selfish reasons as to why we want them based in one market or another... namely potential in-studio visits and hometown pride. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, just that it should be acknowledged.

And neither would I - in the end, I don't think there has been a person that hasn't been surprised over the turns their careers have made the last 5 years.

Summed up perfectly.

Beef, shmeef, there's ultimately no reason for this thread to stay open.
We've got current ones going about any potential R&F moves. This one has bad vibes.
Let's either use the DCRTV thread or mine about the "your mom's box" comment.
