View Full Version : Its funny how you take things in NY for granted
Like the bread, you cant really find a good hard crusty loaf of bread down here simply cause they're stupid. Second, italian food. allthough the owners of all the itallian places I go are owned by one familly from Westbury LI, theres still no place like home. The other Major thing that I took for granted was my egg sandwhiches. Theres only ONE place by me who can make a semi good egg sandwhich, but being how dumb they are they always forget something, you say 2 eggs bacon and cheese over easy, they give you two eggs well missing the cheese. Back up north I never had a bad egg sandwhich. Sorry if Im complaining I know I have a bad habit of doing this but I find it to be a stress release when I type. Tommorow when I come up and stay till Tuesday is going to feel so quick, before I know it Ill be back at work saying how much I miss NY. Thankfully most of the poeple I know and meet originate somewhere on LI. I cant tell you HOW many poeple I hear, Mostly from Brooklyn but a few from the island. Im glad I mvoed though, I need to find myself (insert joke here), Ive found a job where I can acually grow with a company, a state where my car insurance isnt 5K a year, and Ive got a great car! Im glad with gas prices today I didnt get a truck!

When I went to school upstate no one knew what fresh mozzarella was. I even had one guy at a deli tell me, " This is fresh. I haven't even opened the package yet."

As I've said many times before, the things I miss most about home (the Tri-State area) are food-related: real pizza and Italian food (not the Mediterranean shit they call "Italian" down here) as well as a decent deli.

When I went down to South Carolina, I met a guy in the hotel that had relocated down there from here and he was practically begging me to send him some "real cheese" from NY because, he said, the cheese down there was like plastic. I also went to South Beach, near Miami and I had some of the best eggs I ever had and the sweetest oranges. I guess when you go to the rural areas, some of the food really sucks. In South Carolina though, I had awesome sea food.
