Baltimore, MD (CNN) -- The radio world is in shock as fans, family and colleagues attempt to come to grips with the death of shock puppet Foul Mouth Elmo

Around the world, radio fans expressed grief, disappointment and even cynicism over the death of another prominent star in the radio world.

Elmo's body was found in a room at an exclusive Baltimore hotel room on Saturday just before noon, police said.

CNN's John Raedler reports
Police said they had taken a leather belt away for forensic examination, but there were "no suspicious circumstances."

They would not comment on local media reports that he had hanged himself with the belt from his hotel door.

Prescribed medication, but no illegal drugs, was also taken from the room.

"Everything is a matter for the coroner and as such we cannot comment," a police spokeswoman said.


This is a sad day in radio.

Sunny days, sweeping the, clouds away....

But not today.

Yesterday afternoon hundreds gathered around the stoop of 123 Sesame Street holding red candles to remember one of their own.
When he wasn't busy counting to five, being gramatically incorrect, or giving hugs to celebrities like Robin Williams and Whoopi Goldberg, Elmo was another kind of muppet from the hours of 7pm-11pm est Monday thru Friday.
After a couple of eight balls and Colt 45's, Elmo would begin cursing up a storm. Verbally abusing the other muppets, becoming the homophobic and misogynistic Foul mouthed Elmo as he is known to the Ron and Fez show audience of Washington DC and now Baltimore.
But why Elmo? What made you do this?
Some say it started when he became a regular on the Rosie O Donnell show.
"The pressure was too much for him" claims Big Bird
" Snuffalupagus and I started noticing his baggy eyes and moods swings a few years back when those radio guys were in New York"
Snuffalupagus is living in Niagra Falls Ontario Canada and could not be reached for comment.
"F**k Him!!" said Oscar the grouch "I live in a garbage can!!!!"
Bert and Ernie are in Massachussettes and could not be reached for comments.
