What do you do for this company? Do you still get paid even though you are not there?

Joanna: You're just not gonna go?
Peter Gibbons: Yeah.
Joanna: Won't you get fired?
Peter Gibbons: I don't know, but I really don't like it, and, uh, I'm not gonna go.
Joanna: So you're gonna quit?
Peter Gibbons: Nah-uh. Not really. Uh... I'm just gonna stop going.
Joanna: When did you decide all that?
Peter Gibbons: About an hour ago.
Joanna: An hour ago... so you're gonna get another job?
Peter Gibbons: I don't think I'd like another job.
Joanna: Well, what are you going to do about money and bills and...
Peter Gibbons: You know, I've never really liked paying bills. I don't think I'm gonna do that, either.

Spring term is almost over, and I'm really hating my job. My lease on my apartment is amost run out. The tags on my car expire next week. If I'm ever going to do it, this just seems like a good time to kill myself..</center>

I pretty much don't feel like going to work ever. I don't even work that hard, I work for the government. Its just knowing that I'm sitting here doing nothing but making a list of things I need to do at home that I find is really decreasing my productivity.

I'm at that point now, too, Gina.

What's been getting me through it is that I am set up to work from home. Can't do it all the time, but the days where I wake up just dreading coming in, I can usually just work from home. It works out because it's pretty much getting a day off, but doesn't affect my vacation/sick time.

Now I'm just miserable. I have 4+ weeks in vacation. I am thisclose to just quitting, and using that extra check I'll get to support myself. I'm too much of a pussy, though. I have to have something else lined up first.

Well I know how you feel, but for different reasons. I work a full commision job. No Salary PLUS commision. So if the loans do not come in then I do not get paid. Right now my next paycheck is not due until August 27th and that is a LONG time away. I get a large urge to try to find another job or not come in because I feel like I am waiting my time. But I suck it up and think that I am not making money now but I could be making over 100k in another year or 2. I guess I have to be a poor man for another year.

I don't know - you stopped going to work but your brother is your boss? That's not a real rebellion against an employer. That's just a lazy exit.

But hey, enjoy the beach.

You're working at the station that they're building next to the Turnpike? How much longer are they going to be working on it?

My girlfriend just started a new job this week at a major company. She HATES it and was offered her old job back at a much smaller company which is just what she wants. She would love to tell her new boss that she just doesnt want to come in anymore. I think she should. How can she quit without seeming like a total tool? Its the complete opposite of what she was expecting.

Well it's not exactly like that. We are reaaaally slow right now. There's no work anywhere. I could go sit in the office with my thumb up my ass for 8 hours or take the unpaid days off and sit on the beach. I can't get laid off cause I'm family and they just won't do it. I get treated worse because of my last name. If I fuck up EVERYONE knows about it. Trust me, it's not like because I'm related I get it easy. In fact it's the opposite.

The other thing keeping me from going back is massage school. I finally went back to school and I love what I do. It makes getting up at 5am every day excruciating because I know come Feb. I'll be doing what I want. It's like I have the end of the school year itch but it's only July. Plus I passed my swedish final so technically I can start doing house calls now and charge half price which is about 45. Not bad. So I could make it right now without my pos job.
