Mom Surgery = Thought and wishes =Cool

Hey Bud-Days;

As I write this my 70+ Mom is on an operating table getting her second knee replaced.

So this Agnostic was on his knees last night praying; weird how things like this will do that. I had to go to the Hostpital last night and sign her DNR: Do Not Resusitate, I'm the son who can handle this kind of stuff, the others, well...

'Just' a knee replacement, but surgery at 70+ and all that. So you dont have to post it here, feel free to if ya want, but sending out some Good Wishes towards the NJ Shore would be a cool thing!

TJ I sat and was going to use the phrase 'Send out Good Vibes' because that's exactly what I do.

Like I said; I'm not a Pray-er. God's gonna do what God's gonna do whether he/she/it exists or not. So why bug That part of the Universe.

But I strongly believe in sending out good thoughts and wishes to people, specific people even, when I sit quietly, usually in the morning. Some might see this as prayer, but...

Anyway, seriously, ya know, I read about the girl abducted and I close my eyes and I literally see which way is south [that abduction occurred 20 mins south of me] and I say to myself, Please let this end Well. Stranger things have happened then her showing up alive, but that involves Hope.

But Hope is irrational. And still we Hope.

Can you tell I'm stuck at home waiting by the phone?

I think yer right, as I just got off the phone with Brother's Wife/RN who will Kick Ass if things arent done right, and she's out of surgery. I went to see her after the first knee and she was so friggin white it was terrifying, so I'm gonna wait and then go over.

But fucking A right now; with all the depressing shit in the world, there's some good news for ya folks.

It is quite difficult to not believe in 'Some' sort of Benevalent Presence in the Universe.

If we could only realize, be reminded constantly, of the simple Luxury of Being Alive, it sure would make things, ummm... nicer?

I should explain real quick why this is all so surreal. Our family has been through the hospital thing a bunch of times, in fact, my Mom chairs a bunch of stuff at the hospital. She wasan RN back when she tended Iron fucking Lungs, and made the Newark Papers in a pic showing the very first polio vaccine being administered in NJ at the [get this for wonderfully Un-PC names]:

The Newark Crippled Children's Hospital.

Hey, thats what they called it back in the day. Anyway, so we know Doctors and Nurses and all sorts of people in the area.

So the Surgeon who is my Mom's knee surgeon the guy whos been working with her for three years; the first knee and all the visits after and check-ups, same guy who operated on her today.

This Doctor, a guy my age, watched his daughter get crushed under a Lino Van accident in Florida in February. I've referenced it enough here; but it's just surreal. I know this Doc well, 'Hey Mike, glad to see ya here' when I bring Mom, and in Feb the Driver of said Lino Van lost control, the van went over, she was ejected, and crushed under the van. So he has been dealing with THAT since February.

It's tough to talk to a doctor asking him the selfish Qs: 'Shes gonna be OK Doc, you can tell me if this on'es risky...' etc. when you know he's dealing with the death of his daughter.

And it reminds me, again, how frigging lucky we all have it. Thanks to you ALL, I really believe in good Vibes. It Worked!
