"Social Distortion will be releasing their first ever full-length concert release entitled "Live In Orange County" on July 27, 2004"

I cant wait for this! Its been so long since they released an album and it seems like it will be a few more months until the next one is ready. I really liked their first film-Another State Of Mind that came out in the early 80's and they are amazing live so this one should be just as good.

Considering how rare it is to see Social D on video, this is really going to be a treat. I will shit myself if Vintage has it today when I visit. Shit! Shit I say!

I have still yet to go there. I hear so much about it and I am told it's "to far" to go. Fuck you fatty! I'm the one driving here!

My not so trusty and scummy Q-Mart Record Store may have it today or maybe a trip to Double Decker is in the plans.

If Smash is too far, Reptillian Records in Baltimore is pretty much just as awesome.

And it doens't come out until this Tuesday, so no where is going to have it at this moment.

Actually both those places I mentioned get stuff early and even though it is against the law, the sell stuff early. Like the Tuesday CD releases they will sell early. The Q-Mart store is a bit more guilty cause they have it out on their best sellers rack and it is displayed for the world to see on the Saturday before the sell date. Double Decker and even Vintage Vinyl sometimes if you ask the weekend before, they will have it and sell it to you. Especially if it is on an Indie Label.

That's pretty sketchy, Fluff. But cool, too, I guess. There isn't much I go and buy the day it comes out, mostly pick stuff up as I see bands or odd trips to the record store.

And I was in my neighborhood Best Buy, and I searched the entire DVD section about 10 times over and couldn't find it. Coun't find the section where it would have been. Even looked in the CD department where they did have random DVDs (passed on the No Doubt DVD, i'm really kicking myself on that one hahahaha)

I got the DVD on Tuesday. Its great. Definetly pick it up if you can. The 2 new songs are really good, as are the classics. The special features are pretty cool too.

September 28 the new record comes out.

From Socialdistortion.com:

"Sex, Love and Rock'n'Roll
Is the title of what you've all been waiting for, the first studio album from Social Distortion in 8 years! To be released on September 28, 2004, Mike Ness reveals a more optimistic side on this record, including the emotional journey of love, loss and acceptance on "Don't Take Me For Granted", written for the late Dennis Danell. But, don't let that fool you into thinking he's forgotten his punk rock edge. Ness' signature wrath can be felt throughout, especially on tracks like "Reach For The Sky" and "Nickels And Dimes."

They're not cheap tickets. I already picked up 4 for the Nation show. Opening act is Tiger Army and somebody I can't remember at the moment.

And I think Matt is just filling in for the tour, I don't think he has actually joined the group. But all the other guys in Rancid have other groups, now, so I guess it wouldn't be that big a deal.

And folks should check out Flogging Molly when they come around (9:30 club here in DC, not sure where in NYC)--not only are they awesome, but they have 2 awesome bands opening up--Street Dogs and the Briggs. Street Dogs is Dropkick Murphys old singer's new band and i've heard good things about the Briggs.

Roseland? Wow they moving on up from the clubs. I saw the at the Stone Pony many years back, and somewhere else that was pretty small.

That show is gonna be of fun ride. I love seeing shows at Roseland for some reason. Maybe it's the age of the place, those old fixture in the mens room [which usually looks like a War Scene during a show]; maybe it's the big open floor, people like me who dont wanna be in the pit can stand in back near the merch and the $6 cups of beer.

Rage Against the Machine [Evil Empire [?] tour], Faith No More [Angel Dust tour] and Crue [Generation Swine club dates] are some kickass memories. Anyone else here at any of those shows?

[Edit: I just looked up the year Angel Dust by FNM was released. 1992?!?! TWELVE YEARS AGO?!]

My God I feel so old. It was THAT far back? And that was the Tail End of FNM. sheeesh...

I was at that Rage Against The Machine show. I think it was in 96? Ive seen dozens of shows there. Its a great place and other than the Bowery Ballroom and maybe the Mercury Lounge, I think it has the best sound in the city. And its a big place. I saw Fishbone there a few years back and it wasnt even 1/4 full. Just seemed like a huge space.
