So that, EVEN THOUGH YOU ONLY HAVE ONE PAIR OF EYES, you can "conveniently" utilize the other screen for things like radar, stat screens, or multiple camera angles... Thus bumping up the price for the extra LCD and, in turn, sacrificing things like memory, processor power, and space.

OK, I can understand some of the DS bashing but most of you are failing to realize any of the things that seperate DS from PSP. The 2 most simple things: price and battery life. DS will almost surely launch for $199 while PSP will go for a miminum of $299. Also, Sony has yet to get the battery life of PSP over 3 hours yet. So, this multimedia platform and gaming machine only lasts 3 hours compared to DS which will be around 10.

From a marketing standpoint DS is brilliant. Developers are lining up to make games. Every company is interested in making something truely unique on DS, which will give Nintendo the 3rd party support they never had. Also Nintendo is getting out of the door before Sony and marketing DS as the "innovation" of video games.

Sure Nintendo could make a graphically superior product like PSP. But eventually someone has to change things up a bit and innovate the industy. Some of the ideas shown at E3 for DS looked so cool and much better than PS2 ports that will be on PSP. Don't listen to the Sony hype machine. Remember how powerful PS2 was supposed to be? PSP will definetly be more powerful than DS but don't expect it to duplicate PS2 graphics. I think every good word about PSP is being based on the sleek design. I won't argue that its better looking than DS, but DS is certainly looking nice.

Maybe its just me but I really like the way Nintendo is moving. Innovation with DS and Revolution is what will give them any chance of regainging the #1 spot.

Yeah, but I've already been fooled by Nintendo's "We're being innovative" babble once before with the GameCube.

Believe me, I was the first guy to come out and defend Nintendo on the GC and I told everyone how Nintendo was gonna win in the end 'cuz they were gonna change the direction of gaming... cuz I stupidly listened to them. I thought they were serious when they said the GameCube was going to change the face the industry. I've already been fooled once, and I'm not letting it happen again. Nintendo pumps themselves up with these self-important "innovations" and just ends up getting outsold, outproduced, and outperformed by other companies.

I'm ALL FOR innovation and being "different". I'm an Apple user since day one... even in the days of Windows 95 when Apple when on their last leg. But they actually BACKED UP their shit when they said they were "Thinking different." Nintendo just wants to be the Apple of the gaming world, when all they do is continuously come out with mediocre products that no one wants to develop for.

Well, if you're underwhelmed with GCN I can see being hesitant about DS. I never followed blindly into thinking that GCN would innovate the industy and obviously it didn't. However, what it did do is make a home for classic 1st party Nintendo games. There's little doubt that Nintendo is responsible for the finest 1st party games ever and no one, assuming a basic level of competency, would dare refute such a claim.

I originally picked up an Xbox before GCN and later a PS2. Along that time I realized that GCN has the best exclusive games, its that simple. I won't bother listing them but its obvious what GCN has done right AND what its done wrong. Now with DS it actually IS innovative, it IS different. Touch sensitive technology and dual screens may seem stupid. However, if E3 was any indication of what can be done I'm VERY interested to see some of the products on DS.

History has Nintendo's back too. Though nothing has quite come close to the initial quality, name, and look of PSP I remember something very very similar. Remember Game Gear? Better graphics, nicer screen, more expensive, shitty battery life. Neo Geo, Lynx, N-Gage...I could go on for hours. Don't question Nintendo in the handheld market. They've OWNED it for over a decade. Have some faith.

You can't really say that though, cuz you could've said before PlayStation came out "Trust Nintendo, they've dominated the console industry for 10 years." Then Sony came out of nowhere and PlayStation literally TOOK OVER.

And I didn't BLINDLY put my faith in the GC. I did my research. I was WAY into the current generation of consoles before they came out. I was reading news on them every day. Nintendo listed day after day reasons why the GameCube would offer the best innovations and the best opportunities for developers to be creative and save money at the same time. But when the most ground-breaking thing they showed us loyal fans was PIKMIN, that was just pitiful. I'm getting kind of tired of Nintendo's empty promises. Sony took over the console market one swift motion... Who says they can't do the same to the portable market?

I agree, the exclusives are good. And I am glad I own a GameCube for those. F-ZERO, Smash Bros., Metroid, and the upcoming Zelda just to name a few. There are also some non-Nintendo GameCube exclusives like Sonic Mega Collection and Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes which also make the system worth owning. But when there's a huge title that's just sweeping the gaming world (aka - MGS2: Sons of Liberty, GTA3, GTA Vice City, FFX, Halo) guess which system it's NOT on.

I just don't see and I don't think I ever will see the point in the two screens. I would've much rather seen a more powerful system with one screen than sacrifice graphics for an extra useless screen. I'm definitely going to approach the DS with caution.

Nintendo's biggest mistake is shunning online connectivity. It really has the most original, innovative games (Viewtiful Joe, Metroid Prime, Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker to name a few), but when you can't support what people want the most then you're going to lose a goodportion of the market.

The best selling games for PS2 and XBox are Madden and Halo. Madden sells best online because you can play it online. It was available on GC and XB, but didn't sell anywhere near as well. Halo is a really boring FPS for one player, but the appeal of the online multiplayer (as well as 4 player on 1 box and/or lan play) makes it the best selling title on the system.

when they allow a shitty version of river city ransom to be released that doesnt allow a 2 player mode i lose my faith. the only reason i havent sold my cube is because of metroid prime 2 and the forthcoming def jam vendetta 2. but nintendo just needs to concentrate on games like sega did. this dual screen idea is just stupid. im sorry i cant concentrate on two screens at once.

I wouldn't waste $200 on a system with two small screens (same with PSP). I'd rather just have a console and play on an actual TV. There's the point where you're no longer spending your days on long car trips or train rides. I know people who bought GameBoy and they played it a couple of times and then they put it away. I'm not saying it's a bad console, I'm saying who wants to play on a small screen (or two) every day to beat a game?

I've got to agree with this, I actually really like my game boy advance games, but the advance is too much of a pain to play, and I really don't want to shell out $50 for the GBA-GC converter, simply because I'm paying $50, and not "getting anything new" if that makes sense., especially since I'm opposed to shelling out $50 for a new game these days.

if it's really going to be $200, that just doesn't justify what is essentially a kids system, that uses a nostalgic design, that they'd never aprieciate.

make the friggin' gamecube games cheaper, and more people will buy them, then you'll make your money...
the "buy me that" factor dies out when everyone's poor
