I ws watching this movie tonight and at the end of the movie, Harrison Ford comments about how the sailors that died did not receive any medals because they were not in combat or in a war zone. But he calls all of his crew...Heros!!

It got me to thinking about all of the things I had seen in the service..One time we had a bilge fire in the engine room of the ship I was on...2 sailors were killed in the engine room from smoke inhalation but 2 more sailors were killed trying to rescue them ..along with 14 wounded...these things never make the papers yet it happens everyday on every military base and ship at sea.... We often forget about the poor serviceman who is shipped home in a coffin but it was never reported in the newspapers...they're heroes too!!!

Thats very true. Reminds me of reading about this poor battalion of Scots headed to the front in WWI. Their train ran into another train, and then about 15 minutes later, the London Express crashed into them both....wiped out about half the battalion. A lot of the poor guys were crushed in the train or were trapped and burned to death....

the guys that survived?

They got sent to Gallipoli...
