Crank Call Confession

I just wrote in another thread [Duke getting weird Calls] about finding a real old tape of my older Bro and his friends doing Crank Calls about 1978, way before Caller ID; theyd call businesses, teachers, fuck with them, try the stupid Bart Simpson type jokes.

I wasnt a crank caller but I most definately did what others did back before caller ID or star 69; if you wanted to check on someone to see if they were home, you just picked up the phone anc called them, and if they happened to answer, you hung up. You knew they were home. I dont know what it would take to get the number of someone who would do this back then, but sheesh my brother and friends were some serious crank callers, so for some reason it was either harder to track, or too much trouble, whatever, someone here who knws will know.

SO: Confess crank calls, stalking calls; or is the Crank Call Art a Dead thing with Caller ID and other stuff?

we made some 'prank calls' growing up. sometimes neighbors we didn't like or just what we thought were 'funny names' in the phonebook and make some silly joke if they answered...

one time we ordered pizzas to the neighbor who would take our ball if it went in his frontyard...

Years ago, when my wife and i were first married, we got some crank calls for about a week. One night my wife answered the phone and recognized the voice...it was her ex-husband, Tom Nardi...The next day I paid him a visit at the pub he hung out in...Lo and behold...we never got a crank call again...I hate crank calllers!!!!

when i was in 1st grade my friend jackie and i had uber crushes on this guy kevin ryan...he was in 8th and was on the same bus as us

so we got the directory adn use dto call adn hang up his house

so finally one day his mom or him (i forget) called my hous eadn jackie's house cuz of *69

we got in trouble and had to apologize

My oldest brother used to call the lawyers that had advertisments on the back of the yellow pages.

Once he called and said he needed a lawyer right away because he had just driven a car right through someones living room. They went with it until he got bored and hungup.

When I was in junior high school we'd make prank calls, but never from home:

we'd call the operator from a pay phone and prank her, instead.

Over and over.

Until the operator temporarily disabled the phone. (I have no idea how she did that, but it was our key to move to the phone in front of the pizza shop.)

I do crank calls at work from time to time. I used to do a lot of phone monitoring, listening to what the customer service reps were saying for accuracy, so I have every one of our call centers phone numbers and secret lines that get you in without your number being traceable. I got a couple of cds worth of sounds like from an airport, or on the streets of manhattan, in a casino, etc and I'd act like I was there and was going through a crisis. I even have stuff with farm sounds like a cow mooing or chickens and whatnot. It's pretty funny to hear the people on the other end. I also prank my friends at work from time to time.

I call my coworkers at work, while Im there on the other side of the room, watching them. For some reason, the numbers dont come up right on the display and I get them all the time. Ill pretend I am interested in the product and ask if I can get it (it requires reasearch). I have them going through all these hops and asking dumb questions and I usually put on a fake accent at the end, right before they are to ask if I want an appointment...either I admit who I am or give them the "silent game".....................................hello?

My friend has a tape of a buddy and I doing crank calls. Some of it is so funny I cant stop laughing even when I think of it. I have to ask her to make me a copy of the tape. We called businesses and law offices and just made up retarded characters. This one call we made the guy SO mad he starts screaming and he yelled so loud it fucked up the audio on the tape. There's some priceless stuff on that tape.

If someone keeps calling me with a wrong number, I'll answer and when they ask if so-and-so is there, I'll say "let me check" *wait ten seconds* "nope, they don't live here".

One time, when I was a rookie, I had the telephone duty at the pct. Around 3am , I got a phone call and I answered "Giordano's Funeral Home, You stab him...we slab him"...then the phone rang a few minutes later....I said " Jacobi abortion Clinic...you make'em, we scrape 'em" ....then a few minutes later, I answer the phone for real and I hear..."May I please to the duty Cpt....this is Inspector Jones...And I'll talk to you tomorrow"!!! Talk about , awww shit!!!!!! Oh I forgot to mention, this was a dedicated line to Bronx Borough Command's 124 man's desk...not a public line!!!

I don't really crank call anyone but I been using *67 for over 10 years now when I feel it's appropriate.

Yea... but you can use *67 to know if they use Caller ID. If they do, you'll get that message "please turn off your caller ID blocker". Then you just have to try another number.
