I love this area...I hate this area...

Average household incomes in Howard, Prince William, Fairfax and Montgomery counties -- all at least $73,000 -- were among the nation's highest

Prince William County and Prince George's County ... had among the nation's longest average commutes, more than 34 minutes each.

The new survey also points to a continuing rise in homeownership in the city in the past three years, partly attributable to construction downtown and east of the Anacostia River. City officials encourage homeownership, because owners tend to be more stable and well-off than renters, but some activists are concerned that gentrification is pushing poorer renters out of the city.

The survey shows that the city's home values have zoomed this decade -- from a median value of $177,619 in 2000 to $248,171 last year.

Man, try living ANYWHERE else in the world when it comes to awful traffic. In high school, it took me at least an hour to get to school in the morning, and close to THREE hours to get home at night...AND IT WAS 18 MILES FROM MY APARTMENT TO THE SCHOOL.

I love this goddamn country BECAUSE of the traffic we have. GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Mojo No doubt; as bad as it can ge up here, the fucking DC Beltway seems to be some cruel punishment for drivers. From Key West you can cruise up I-95, a really wonderful drive, if youve been on some shit roads out west; meaning it's a no brainer; North/South, there ya Go.

And then you hit it, and that fucker can clog up like I think they call people UP and say come On! It's 4AM but lets take a ride!

At least four times driving back from WJFK, I like driving so a drive from fairfax to NJ shore, 250 miles, no sweat, it's night, I dont drink. Pepsi and Marlboros pave the way, no worries. And I hit fucking traffic. 11:30 at night! fuck! It wouldnt be bad if you thought you could get away with the 10am-2pm 'quiet time' some roadways enjoy. Not the DC beltway.

And all it takes is 1 car out of 100 to be clueless and realize he's gotta move over four lanes to get that exit, and the Fuck actually goes for it, which for me? Justifiable Homicide.

How can that be among the longest? My commute is just about 30 mins and everyone in my office is jealous! (I live in Northern VA, but not PW or PG)

Hey!

For the second year in a row, Forbes magazine put DC in the top 10 cities!

Forbes (http://www.forbes.com/2004/05/05/04bestplacesland.html)

How can that be among the longest? My commute is just about 30 mins and everyone in my office is jealous! (I live in Northern VA, but not PW or PG)

AVERAGE!

AVERAGE!

It's the AVERAGE, people!!!!!!!!

Some people have only 5 to 10 minute drives. If you live in this area you know people who are doing 60 to 90 minute drives in one direction, especially those in PG and Prince William.
