I was really bored and itchy today so I took off my splint and got some pics. I won't know if I need surgery till Monday. The docs in NY said yes but my doc said he didnt think so. My fibula is broken in 3 places, my tibia and ankle are also broken. WOO HOO.

I don't know if I should sue. That's not really me. But if I knew 100% I would win then maybe. And if I do I probably shouldn't discuss it here right?

I was drinking that night and they would prolly try to say I was hamered.

I don't know what to do.

those witnesses would never work because a) everyone else was drinking b) you are her friends c)its a visual interpritation of something that can not been seen.

it would be like saying that a person looks healthy so they do nto have AIDS.

i think you may have a case, they would probably settle out of court though. i am sure more than a few people have fallen down those steps.

"Impossible," says the doctor. "Show me."

She takes her finger and pushes her elbow and screams in agony. She pushes her knee and screams, pushes her ankle and screams and so it goes on, everywhere she touches makes her scream.

The doctor says, "You're not really a brunette, are you?"

She says, "No, I'm really a blonde."

"I thought so," he says. "Your finger is broken

My dr in Jersey didn't want to put a cast on in case I need to have surgery. The NY hospital said I need the surgery but my dr. says probably not. Monday he will compare the x-rays that he took with the ones from NY to determine if it's necessary. So there's no point in putting a cast on if they're gonna take it off in a week. Or so they say.

Right now I have on a splint...its kind of like a cast but doesn't wrap all the way around my leg. There's a piece in the back of my leg and on both sides. It's wrapped in a trillion ace bandages too. I go to the doc tomorrow so I'll keep you posted.

p.s. in the meantime if anyone wants to send some narcotics my way feel free :)

***Update***

I went to the drs today and I have to have surgery this Thursday. My ankle is displaced 2 cm and my fibula and tibie are are too far away from each other so I need a plate to bring them closer together..or something like that. All the tendons in between the 2 bones and my ankle are torn. I'll need a plate on the lateral side of my leg and screws near my ankle. I will be immobile for 2-3 months and later in life I will probably develop arthritis. He said I will most likely never run again. This really puts a damper on massage therapy school which I'm more than half way through. I'm probably going to have to find a new profession.

My life is in shambles. I can honestly say I want to jump off a bridge right now. I've been depressed before but nothing like this. My life is forever ruined. Not to mention I think I've gained 10 lbs in the past week.

p.s. Thanks for all the nice comments. You guys are great.

Think of it this way, you can take this time off to overtake Mojo's 20,000+ posts!

In regards to your doctors report, they told me the same thing when I sprained (badly) both my ankles. They wanted to operate and shorten my tendons, they had been so badly stretched and destroyed, as according to one doc. I didn't have insurance and I told them that I would live with it. Doctor said that I would not be able to run properly if I did not have the operation. I never did and I can run short distances. Granted, it took a long time to heal and alot of painful therapy, but I have managed with this for quite a few years.

Hope this was an upper for you.....you can determine for yourself what you will and will not be able to......doctors are not always right.

As for therapy school, bottom line is that you can continue at a later date. You need to take care of you first.

In any case, get better soon. Your catcher needs to see the pitcher out there next year!!!!

In case anyone cares, my surgery went well.

1 plate and 5 screws.

I was in so much pain they gave me a morphine pump for about 12 hours. Every 8 minutes I'd give myself a shot of morphine directly into my blood. That equals about 14 mgs every hour. I suggest breaking a leg just for that.

So hopefully in 3 months I'll walk again.

Thanks again for all the kind words.

just a coincidence but my brother smashed his heel afetr falling off a wall at the construction site and he received the same amount of hardware:

5 screws and a plate

what does this mean? doctors like the '5 screws and a plate method'... went to my doctor for a chest cold, he gave me 5 screws and a plate

like they say 'take 5 screws and a plate and call me in the morning'

okay i'll stop now! but it just has that 'slight wierd vibe' to it

G, I wouldnt think about changing the plans you had for your profession, many people have had this kind of damage and they surely do end up being able to be physical again. You just cant do it right now. Im sure if you ask around, youll find someone else who has been through it and recovered and are back in the game. Feel better soon and above all, keep a positive outlook!

G-

When my father broke his leg (both the tibia and fibia), his doctor wanted to put in plates and screws, because the bones weren't in the right position to heal right. He refused, and the doctor told him that unless they did the surgery, he would never walk again without a walker or cane.

After being in a full leg cast for several months, the cast was shortened to just the lower leg. My mother was driving him in the family van to an appointment (he was in the back with the casted leg up on one of the chairs), when someone ran a stop sign and she slammed on the brakes to avoid an accident. Needless to say, the cast pulled my father out of the seats and he wound up breaking his kneecap on the back of one of the chairs, and wound up back in a full length cast.

When he finally got out of the cast(s) he walked with a cane for a while, but gradually, he gave it up, and is walking fine. He can run, but not like he used to. Don't think that the doctor is necessarily right. He's probably giving you a worst case scenario. If you work at it, I'm sure that you'll gain back a good deal of mobility.

I went to visit them this past Friday. It was great seeing them again. Man do I miss that show soo much. And I met Crazy Jen.....WOW. What a character.

It doesn't hurt at all anymore. I'll have the cast on for another month or 2 then I start physical therapy. Turns out where the big opening is I have a plate and about 9 screws and 1 big screw in my ankle. I'll post pics of the X-rays later. They're pretty cool.

If only I took pictures of my stiches from my surgery a few years ago. They removed these bumps from the back of my neck. The stiches ran from one side of my ear to the other. Everytime my co-workers children visited the office, I would tell them my head came off. That shit was funny. Although crossing the street was difficult--I had to turn my whole body to see if the road was clear or not.

Thanks for the nightmare.

I'm glad it's finally off!

When I got mine off, I had gotten the cast wet, and it was starting to smell. And of course, I had the 2 hottest drs taking my cast off, and one of them was like, "eeeew! your leg stinks!" Fun times
