She is a great testament of the shows at WJFK. Make no mistakes about it, Crazy Jen isn't intruding or doing anything wrong, she is welcomed on the show. Don't buy R and F's act about wanting her gone because if that was the case she would be. She might be bad but she never shuts up which takes up a lot of air time they don't know what to do with anyway. She serves this purpose perfectly.

To see Ron and Fez let such a radio bore and cancer have so much air time (Crazy Jen) shows a clear sign they either do not care or have given up with the show (for now at least). They are disinterested and I'm not sure if this is even going through the motions anymore.

A professional radio show shouldn't be so dependant on "characters". The characters are not there yet are being forced. I know the show has always relied heavily on the supporting staff but it's not working so move on and do the show and stop forcing bad personailites. Can you not force these personalites and still fill up 4 hours of air time? This is one thing I'm starting to suspect.

I'm not there yet because I try and keep the faith but I'm close to tapping out.

To Crazy Jen, if she see's this,

I know this sucks to have people writing their negative opinions about you and I for one am sorry but you don't belong in such large doses in radio. It's not your fault cause your being pushed and used to take up a mass amount of air time per week that the show apparently needs filled with something. I don't think any fan could ever play an interesting part with the show in such a large and forced role. Please don't take it personal and everyone should remember it is Ron (I'm guessing) giving her the ok to go on not her coming in and taking over as implied.

Look not everyone is going to like everything about the show. I always hated Al Dukes, I still listened. I thought Al was a comedy brake. There are plenty of other people who loved Al.

Jen is a really sweet girl and can be very funny (sometimes not on purpose) da doosh doosh.

It would be a boring world if we all liked the same thing.

As long as this thread doesn't get into personal attacks we will keep it open.

Reeshy I know you are not attacking Jen as a person just her part on the show and that is cool.

Don't let the bastards get ya down Jen. You are loved and funnier than 95% of the jealous losers on this board. Some people don't like change. You have more balls than any of them. They claim to hate you , but Im willing to bet- everyone of them (like me) NEVER turn the show off when you are on.

That was an event you dope. It was a great idea to get people to the show. Perhaps people who never really listen. It went over famously if you were there. It got sponsers involved with a prize give-a-way.

Yep. New York City is way behind the times

On the subject at hand though, Jen is not comedy gold but she still provides a lot of air time. I met her and all of this is hardly an 'act.' I just don't think the boys have any real characters down there that can bring the funny.

Personally I like Crazy Jen's character on the show. I didn't at first and couldn't quite figure out why they kept having her on the show, but as time went on I understood why. Her character is still somewhat developing, and she sometimes misses the direction the boys are going with a joke, but then there's times when she's just dead funny to me.

Do I think she would have been as big a part of the show New York as she is in DC, no. I think that the one thing that is very clear is that the New York listeners senses of humor were much more in tuned with the comedy style of Ron and Fez than they are in DC. Which isn't a slam on DC, but the style and the callers are definitely different. I do find from time to time though that the Baltimore callers for some reason are closer to the New York audience and they should try pushing more for Baltimore callers to call in. But this is all besides the point. Where the show is now and where the boys are going she is a fine character for the show.

Crazy Jen is real. She's not doing an "act," she's being herself. She's also, without a doubt, the person with the kindest heart that I've met affiliated with the Ron & Fez show. And I think she's hilarious. I even risked being "banned" myself because I love her on the show so much.

Probably no one loves every second of the 20 hours a week Ron and Fez lovingly provide for us. For instance, when they start talking wrestling, my mind wanders.

Just try to remember that when you discuss people on the show that they are actually Real People with Real Feelings, not just "characters." And they most likely will read what you say. Hell, I bet even tough ol' Ron gets his feelings hurt from time to time. I'm not saying don't speak your mind, it just seems like some of you people forget that people on the radio are human too.

CJ, I love you AND your "character!" Keep it real, girl.

I don't quite understand how you could have taken a compliment that I was giving to Crazy Jen as a negative. People refer to other people on the show as characters so that was the phrasing I used for my response. I wasn't trying to suggest that the way she is on the air isn't real. I'm 100% sure she is. As I said, I like Crazy Jen on the show. However I do believe that Ron and Fez are trying to develop her on the show into more of a character. I believe that she is naturally funny and it's that very thing that have drawn Ron and Fez to her.

Please don't take it personal and everyone should remember it is Ron (I'm guessing) giving her the ok to go on not her coming in and taking over as implied.

There really hasn't been anything here that's been an "attack" that's any better or worse than anything people like Billy, Wonderboy, Al, Harry Elvis or Mikey D got by being characters/personalities on the show. People on the show are ultimately personailities "performing" for the rest of us. That doesn't make them free for rampant personal attacks, but criticism of how they sound on the air has to be expected.

Jen Rocks.

She brings what a radio show needs, whether they are Bad Good or Indifferent, radio shows need people who are willing to come to the Mic, and have something to say, and then, take the consequences.

And it sure as hell aint a bit. Thats her, 100%. Anyone who's met her will tell ya that, but for those who havent, thats her. Including the stuff she brings to the Mic. She was yelling at me all about how people can time travel by putting magnets on your head. And she meant it.

And hey, they just had a kick ass Comedy Pyramid, so the callers are getting better, actually, the back room now kicks ass, so Good calls are getting on, and getting on fast.

Utterly irrelevant to topic, but worth a mention. Things are looking good.

I love when Jen is on. When she gets the abuse hurled on her it's some of the best R&F since the Al Dukes days. If only they'd isolate her saying some dumbass things and make some priceless drops.

i felt the need to respond since jen and ron keep saying that i hate jen so much...

i agree with reeshy. i don't find jen entertaining. i don't like listening to the show when she's on. that gets to me when she's on a lot, because i love to listen to the show.

i dont think anyone's saying that they hate jen as a person... we don't even know her. from what the people who know her seem to say, she's a very nice person and all that good stuff. but that doens't mean that we all have to find her funny and like listening to her on the show all the time.

it's nothing personal, jen.. but everyone's entitled to their opinion. if you're going to put yourself out there, you have to expect that people are going to have both good and bad reactions.

No, it's because you're unfunny, you talk too much, you're blissfully ignorant and you step over people.

On Opie and Anthony's show, there's callers very similar to you called "Lady Di and Marion". The difference between you and them is that O&A know when the funny is tapped with them and they cut them off.

With all my problems with Perrynoid, he does have some good comedy once in a while. I still sing the Turducken song to myself whenever I'm cooking in the kitchen.

The flipside with you is that you're probably a nice person, but to me, as a listener who's listened to both the NYC and DC versions of the show, you are bringing NOTHING. (and this is my opinion. However, you are obviously bringing something to the table with the amount that Ron has put you on the air. However, it also seems like that you're the only one willing to do some of the more stupid and painful stunts - clothespins come to mind)

You have to ask yourself, "What can I do to make Ron and Fez a better show," NOT "What can I do to get on the radio."

There's a big, huge difference there.

Wow - obviously someone knows more than Ron. All those years he spent developing talent in comedy clubs - going on tour with the likes of Bill Hicks - all these years working in radio - he should simply not trust his instincts, nor give advice, and instead ask himself, "How would Opie and Anthony handle this?" or defer to the opinions of Opie and Anthony listeners.

When you go on the show, you do open yourself up to a certain level of criticism that you wouldn't have if you stayed off the show. If you're a member of the staff, you open yourself up to even more criticism. It's also true that you have to toughen up in order to open yourself up like that. That said, people really ought to be more cognizant that they are criticising real people who will most likely see those criticisms. Saying someone is boring, unfunny, annoying, etc. is tough not to take personally, because it's part of who that person is. Adding "I'm sure you're a nice person" is about the equivalent of a half-hearted smiley. I don't always like all of the people who go on the show, but I don't post that here, because I know that there's a good chance that that person might feel hurt by my comments. But whatever. It's not my place to dictate how people discuss the show, provided the discussions fall within the board guidelines.

Anyway, no, Jen has not been around much. She was on the show (I think) on Wednesday, but before that she hadn't been on in weeks. There were a couple of segtments that were devoted to her, but one of them was the "I Hate Crazy Jen" game show that Giant Brian came up with.

Watch your fucking mouth, Curtoid. Not once did I ever, EVER say that *RON* should heed my advice, so do NOT put words in my mouth or speak for me.

We've already established your bias towards O&A, so I won't comment on that.

Did you completely skip over the part where I said that it's MY OPINION how unentertaining Jen is, but Ron thinks he's on to something?

I was simply saying that if Jen wants to stop the negativity towards her act, she needs to think a little more about what she can bring to the table.

Never ever ever ever did I ever say or imply how Ron should run his show. I was simply making the comparison between Lady Di and Marion and Jen.

Gee - really sorry if I misunderstood what your own words were there, buddy. Didn't realize there were several sets of rules and standards out there - especially when commenting on something as sacred as Opie and Anthony or their cherished listeners.

I mean, it was you who has been busy bullying Crazy Jen on this board, eventually comparing her (again) to the retarded Laverne and Shirley.

You were the one who expressed his opinion that Jen should have enough restraint of when not to be on the air - putting the pressure on her (ignoring that she actually hasn't been on for almost a month)...

To contrast your very own point, you mention how Opie and Anthony run such a tight ship that they know when to pull in the the reigns of their regular listeners - not putting ANY of the responsibility on Marion or Di.

Hmmmmm...really not sure why I am in the wrong for reading into that that as a criticism of R&F not holding tighter reigns on Crazy Jen, then - since it's obviously all on the hosts - wait - it's all on the guests???

You want Jen to police herself, and to illustrate that you point out that O&A "cut them off" - those who they see as teh funny being tapped.

Again - how is that misrepresenting what you wrote - and how the fuck is that at all a slam on O&A???????

Sheeeeesh.

If you want to do apples to apples (like maybe Stalker Patti, who has done both shows), that is fine, but don't put this all on Jen, backing it with examples from other shows that don't quite mesh up. And don't get pissed off if someone is confused at what you are saying.

Bottom line - Ron and Fez like Jen. They like her a lot. They like whatever she brings to the show. They know that half the audience hates her, and another half will love her. They could have done an "Everyone LOVES Crazy Jen" bit on Wednesday and still had a ton of calls (there was a trip on the line).

Believe it or not, they don't give her complete and total freedom when she comes on - from what little I've seen, there is encourement, etc behind the scenes, even if something bombs - especially then, because they can often do more in those events.

R&F also know that she will do anything for the show. And you are right - there is no one else who really will stand up and be that person. But even if she wasn't - they still like her, and when she's not in, they ask about her, and wonder when she's do in next.

That said, people really ought to be more cognizant that they are criticising real people who will most likely see those criticisms. Saying someone is boring, unfunny, annoying, etc. is tough not to take personally, because it's part of who that person is. look. i'm a very sensitive person. i know that if people were saying stuff about me, i'd get upset by it and i would have a hard time not taking it personally. that's why i dont call into the show. the other night, ron im-ed me saying that i should call in to talk about something, but i didn't. i can't handle it, i admit that, and so i don't put myself in that situation. i can't feel too bad for someone who does, and then can't take the resulting criticism.

Adding "I'm sure you're a nice person" is about the equivalent of a half-hearted smiley. adding "i'm sure you're a nice person" is trying to make it clear that you're talking about your feelings for this person in their role on the air, and not them in any other sense. it's a far cry from a half-hearted smiley, and you know it, mikey.

DING DING! Exactly. Don't go on the show if you can't take the critisism.

Listen, I went on a loooong time ago and lost that drinking contest and caught a LOT of hell for it. So what did I do? I didn't go back on the show because I didn't want to deal with critisism again. It's very simple, if you can't deal with the negative aspects of going on the show, just don't do it.

I was incredibly apprehensive about even going into the studio when Jeff brought me in there to propose, because I'm sensitive to critisism.

I fear that Crazy Jen may have gone into retirement. She has closed her website, changed her email address, apparently has given up her RadioBBQ show and didn't show for turducken night. I personally hope this is only her "Sonny Rollins phase" and she'll come back out from under the bridge and into the limelight again real soon. Crazy Jen is absolutely the best compliment to the R&F show any guest has ever been. I miss her even more than I miss my foreskin & my sanity combined!!!
