I hate country music so that's what makes this confession embarassing.
I was on a flight this week and one of the few in-flight entertainment selections was the new Loretta Lynn album that was produced by the dude from The White Stripes. So, I decided to give it a listen.
It found it to be quite enjoyable. The production was interesting -- sounds kind of like The Stones' "Exile On Main Street" or Elvis' "Sun Sessions" at times: just a really basic, intimate sound.
Although she's 70, Loretta's voice is in fine form. She even belts out some tunes with distorted guitars! Not your typical country album I'm sure but I think even her die-hard fans would like this.
And no, I don't plan to buy the album or become a country music fan.
