Since everyone else is out getting injured and having surgery I figured I would go with the flow and do it myself since I don't want to feel left out.

So, tomorrow morning I will be getting me some ACL repair work at the local surgeons office followed by some extended leave off work.

Anyone else have their ACL repaired? How was recovery?

i tore my ACL 5 years ago. there is nothgn there. the MRI basically shows a black hole where it should be. i still have never gotten the surgery. it hurts me every once in a while, but i have dealt with it.

i tore my meniscus 6 years ago and got that repaired. not to bad.

Whats the ACL? Is it related to the knee? I have been having severe pain in my knee and it keeps giving out, but Ive been nursing it and stretching out the hamstrings and it gets better but once in a while it gets real bad. Im not a big fan of doctors and Im afraid that if I let them shave stuff off it will be discovered in 10 years that theres a better way and by then it'll be too late. Any info you have will be appreciated! When I was a meter reader and walked 10 miles a day it would get crippling, thats why I took any job to get away from it.

most everybody has some sort of structural damage to their knees, be it degradation of the cartilage or slight tears of ligaments. if your overwieght you can gaurantee your knees will be shot by the time your 50. thats why if you are ever in a car accident thats not your fault always say you hurt your knees because there will be some pathology. as far as the acl, slight tears are common and usually dont present a problem as they will heal themselves. most people will never completely rupture their tendons in their knees as would a football player. as far their just being a blck spot where your acl was, that means its healthy. if it was torn it would be bright indicating fluid. thats all for today on mri and the imaging of ligaments of the extremities

So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life

I'm 17 years old, 5'9 1/2", at around 156lbs, and both of my knees act up. It started last near around the summer time, and it's getting to the point where I seriously contemplate surgeory. I mean, I don't get it. I'm not over weight by the wildest imagination, I haven't been injured, and I don't even play sports regularly. So I'm guessing it runs in my family because just about all of my brother's and sisters, and my parents have had problems with their knees. My oldest brother was even contemplating surgoery himself. Wait, I think he had the surgeory.

Anyway, can someone explain why it is that my knees are acting up?

If you're feeling nervous about surgery, read this. It'll make you feel better. (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6192903/)

Well, if anyone cares the surgery went well.

The IV almost made me throw up because of a nervous attack but the doctor doped me up pretty good and I was put in the surgery room.

2 hours later I was waking up and feeling groggy. Managed to get it done all orthscopically and should be able to put pressure on it again in two days.

Good stuff. I guess I will be laying around for a week playing City of Heroes. Vacation!
