Due to the fact that they have touch screen voting machines that cant print out results. I fond it scary that the computer might crash and loose all of its information and The state Of Florida goes through the same thing like 4 years ago

Can't print out results where? In the voting booth itself? Back at the Voting Headquarters?

I'm not voting because I would rather be shot than cast a vote for Bush or Kerry

touch screen voting, some say it is a giant leap forward. it's what gore called for 4 years ago. but i'm not convinced it's better than the butterfly that they had.

ag, if the computer crashes, they have paper ballots on hand.

I love voting, they always give you cookies and orange juice when you've finished.
But watch out! Sometimes, people faint when they're voting!

Edit: I may have gotten voting confused with giving blood. Sorry.

I think most people shouldn't vote. If someone isn't interested in politics and doesn't take the time to learn the issues then what's the point of voting? And I don't think they should take any shit for it either. No more "non-partisan" celebrities with multi-million dollar campaigns to "Rock the Vote!" For what? We don't encourage people to talk about politics, but we encourage to be involved in the decision-making? That makes sense? I don't want anyone's right to vote taken away, (not even felons), but I don't want people to vote just for the sake of voting. If we're going to encourage people to do something it should be to PREPARE to vote. "Hi. I'm Crispin Glover. Why don't you turn off the TV and read a fucking newspaper, man! I can kick!" That would be useful, I think.

Am I off topic?

you're not voting cause they wont print your vote results. is this cause you'll forget or cause you think Bush is tryin to fix the election.

matters not to me, im voting for nadar, because i actually listen to their ideas and pick the guy with the best ones, instead of voting my party like alot of foolish people.

who knows, maybe we get him 10% of the vote and get him into the debate and get some funding

The irony is not lost that, when the computer was being develpoed, people envisaged a Paperless Society, where all our records would be safe and sound on computer, instead of the archaic paper. In fact it was predicted that paper use would indeed decrease early on with the internet, online newspapers and books might mean the death of paper.

And it came out 100% the opposite. More paper then ever. Drowning in it.

If I could vote (I turn 18 a month after the election), I probably wouldn't vote at all cuz I don't consider Kerry or Bush to be good enough candidates for President.

Yerdaddy echoed my sentiments exactly. We tell everyone to vote, but we don't educate them about their vote, so they vote based on a few surface issues (if that). There's more to voting than just pulling a lever.

And yes, all electronic voting machines are flawed. Like someone said above, if you don't trust the machine, use an absantee ballot.

And remember, if you don't like Bush and Kerry, there's more than two candidates running, regardless of what the mass media keeps telling you.

How is it I'm the 3rd person to mention Nader, yet the only one to spell his name right?

I understand this, and its such a valid point. However, casting your vote for somebody other than Bush or Kerry is really of no benefit to this country. I just don't see the point other than making me feel good for "voicing my opinion". Honestly, what advantages are there to voting for somebody other than the two major candidates?

well I consider voting me just expressing my opinion. Do you think your one vote makes a difference? Even if I did live in a borderline state, I wouldn't think that just me voting for Kerry would make a difference. There are so many ways to just turn "wasting-your-vote" around that its no longer legit.

The advantages are that if (and of course its kinda a big if) the Green Party (the 3rd party for now) gets enough votes on a consistent basis over the next couple of elections it will bring their ideas to more of a larger stage. Nader, although I still don't think he has the official Green backing, represents those ideas. If the Green Party were to get like 10% of the vote like Snoogans said, not only will it get a third candidate back in the debates and federal funding for the party (and I think the threshhold for that is lower than 10%), but it will also show the politicians (the Democratic Party that can only be described as moderate) that there is a constituency to win and maybe they will actually listen to such a large group. If 10% of the country were to vote for Nader or a Green Party member in the future that would force there to actually be a party that can be considered liberal in this country.

With ALL that said, I don't know if I'm registered and aint actually eager to vote. 1) I don't know if I'm supposed to get something in the mail but I've sent in forms to register thrice already 2) If Nader isn't backed by the Green Party it seems like a much emptier vote.

Nader is backed by the Reform party. Which proves to me, they don't have a fucking clue what they stand for. Perot, Ventura, Nader? What, besides party affiliation, do they have in common?

Any party helps really. I might vote for Nader then. Sure its much worse than the Green Party, but I'd be willing to vote for him considering a vote for Kerry is useless in NY and a vote for Bednarik is disgusting and makes me feeel dirty to even think about.

Not going to vote because the computer might lose your vote?

Bush or Kerry should be working for that paranoia vote, not the undecided morons. They should save working on them until 2-3 days before the election, or else those people will forget who to vote for.

get nadar or any 3rd candidate 10% of the vote and they get funding and are in the debate. maybe if people didnt think like you, nader would be debating with them and then people would know what he stands for. then maybe he'd have a chance

They should let Ralph Nadia in the debates. I bet he would score a 10.
