If anyone knows the way around this for music cds, please PM me. I imagine this would be locked up, so if someone could just contact me privately with a way around this I'd appreciate it.
Long story short, I bought a cd...The Beatles - Let It Be...Naked and I wanted to play it on my PC but it won't let me due to copy protection on the cd. If you know the way around it.

To be honest with you Funk, it sucks if you even just want to innocently play a music cd and you can't. I mean, I get it that they are want to curb music piracy, but what about people who just want to listen to a cd they bought.

It really is a sad state of affairs when you legally purchase a CD, and can't play it on your computer. It's like "fuckin' Tipper Gore and the thought police".
I don't have an answer for you, but I do feel your pain.
I have a 5:1 system on my pc now, but does this mean I can honestly purchase a cd/dvd and not have the ability to enjoy it on the system of my choice??
FUCK YOU, LARS!!!

i don't understand why you can't play it. you paid for it, the instrament you choose to play it should be irrelevant.

The content industry has released various types of copy-protected CDs which work with other devices to varying degrees. The uses that a purchaser can make of a CD they've bought depend on the type of copy protection involved. Some copy protected CDs are not able to be played on computer CD-ROM players, DVD players, game consoles, car CD stereos and even on some high-end stereos. Consumers are not able to make personal back-up copies of these CDs and cannot transfer the content to another format, like MP3, both of which are uses that U.S. copyright law generally regards as "fair use" and not copyright infringement, or in some cases, not actionable uses, under the Audio Home Recording Act. Some copy-protected CDs have reportedly permanently damaged high-end stereo speakers.
Here's more info about it... (http://www.eff.org/cafe/drmgame/copy-protected.html)
But there are a TON of websites on the subject.

Sounds like we should all start a class action suit against the recording industry.

Fact is, there's different copy protections and I'm not sure which is on the beatles cd. In the past, copy protection was beaten by something as simple as using a magic marker around the edge of the cd.
You could always download the mp3s, since you have purchased the cd and have the legal right to back it up for personal use.

I've heard that as well, though I've heard of two ways of doing it. One is to use the marker around the outside edge of the cd. The second thing I heard is to mark on the inside edge of the desk at the center of the disk.
