the tone seemed a bit more mature/darker than i expected ...
but the quality was so shitty, it's kind of hard to
tell ...
i just watched the first one over the weekend, and the years really haven't been that kind to the movie ... luke's such a whiny pansy, and i found myself flipping through to any vader/imperial scenes ...
i'm still quite excited with all the geeky flicks this spring/summer ...
as a related side note, how come i get the following message every time i reply to this message ...?

It's from synthfiend's old sig pic.
Are you still getting it now? It popped up on my screen so I went back through the thread and found what I thought was his only post in it and edited the sig pic out.
It's not showing up as I type this reply, so hopefully it's gone...

Here's the trailer (http://movies.channel.aol.com/feature/starwars/main.adp)
Much better sound than the last one I posted, but very dark (not just the mood, it was shot with a video camera in a movie theater, or at a TV)
The real one will be all over the net this evening, but if you're like me, you can't wait to see it.
I love that scream during the scene with the emperor, when they try to arrest him.

HOLY SHIT! This looks like the movie I've been waiting to see since I was 6 years old; and the movie the other 2 prequels should have been.
It must be pretty good, especially since Lucas has the sack to be premiering it at Cannes. After the awful, awful reception of the last 2, to do that takes a shitload of guts.

As usual, the trailer looks great. History has taught me to not get TOO excited though.
I'm not just saying this because Ron gripes aboot it but...STOP SHOWING THE WHOLE DAMN MOVIE IN THE TWO MINUTE PREVIEW.
Don't show so many damn highlights! Especially with a visual movie like SW. Leave some suprises for us. We kinda sorta already know the plot. Don't spoil the visuals.
Damn it!

You make a good point, but I guess I'm just a sucker for this film. I couldn't wait for Episode I, but didn't know or care what to expect from it. I couldn't wait for Episode II, but knew I was in for a love story that wouldn't deliver much in the way of paying off a hardcore Star Wars fan.
Now I can't wait for Episode III and I fully expect this movie to pay off. As much as the first two movies were something of a letdown, they were Star Wars & I wouldn't be truthful if I said I didn't enjoy them at all. But this one is going to have to actually show me something because it's the movie I've been waiting most of my life to see. And yet for some reason, I have a feeling it will pay off...I don't know why, but I'm not worried about it. Now, if it sucks, I'll be a raving lunatic, but for now, I'm not worried.

Is he really aging badly? I thought he's naturally in the form of Sidiuos/Emperor (guy in hood) and uses the dark side to hide that and appear to most people as Senator/Chancellor Palpatine. He would then reveal himself in this new film (probably when those Jedi go to arrest him)
How much time passes from Episode I to Return of the Jedi? If Darth Vader is an older man (and started out as a 10 year old boy) then it must be about 40 years or so, right?
If The Darth Sidious we barely see in Episode I is the same guy in Return of the Jedi (if they don't pull any of the Emperor Clone crap) then he's aging pretty well!

The Emperor is aging badly because of his corruption by the Dark Side.
As far as timeline goes. The end of this movie is 19 years before the Luke Skywalker ones.

the point of reference for the star wars timeline is the battle of yavin ... ep3 takes place 20-ish years prior to it (whatever age luke and leia were) ... and ep6 takes place 4 years after ...
anakin was probably 7 in ep1, that took place 32 years prior to the battle and maybe 45 when he died ...
eh ...

The Emperor is aging badly because of his corruption by the Dark Side.
So does he use the dark side to make himself look older when he's darth sidious (wearing black robes and talking to darth maul or count dooku)? He looks old from the first time we see him in episode I (in a hologram) and looks not too far off just before he's killed by Vader in episode VI
As far as timeline goes. The end of this movie is 19 years before the Luke Skywalker ones.
How much time passes from the beginning of Episode I and the end of Episode III (I know there are 10 years n between I and II because Anakin says something about not seeing Padme for 10 years)
Is that whole thing your signature?

so about 36 years from the time we see two Jedi's (Obi Wan and Qui Gon) going to Naboo and meeting Jar Jar (the beginning of the end) to the Ewoks celebrating the fall of the Empire and Luke burning his dad's body?

more or less, yes ...
and using that timeframe, the empire only really ran the things for twenty years ...
doesn't seem all that impressive anymore ...

compared to the 1000 years the republic stood. yeah, Palpatine is a bitch![quote]
It took Palpatine 20 years to run things just as well, if not( in some cases) better , as the Republic did in 1000. Looks pretty frikin impressive to me.
As far as the timeline goes:
It is established that Luke is 19 when we meet him in EP4. Stands to reason then, that as Padme is giving birth in EP3 that only 19 years have gone by.
Use of the Dark Force DOES corrupt. We ( will ) see it when we see Anikan using Dark Force stuff, as well as when the Emporer finally lets loose. In the comics the Emporer has a cloning facility, in where he generates clones for HIMSELF, as his "evil" erodes the various bodies away.

And Grendel is the winner.
Only about 40 years passes between when we first meet Palpatine and He gets tossed down the Death Star 2 by Vader. But those 40 years really kicks the shit outta him. He ages very quickly. So YES he does clone himself.
The Emperor looks like a human version of Yoda. But it took yoda 800 years to get to that look...it only takes Palpatine 15-20. (he just looks bad Ep.3 and maintains that look)
I think the only reason Vader was able to keep his power was that his suit was pretty much keeping him alove for god knows how long. Maybe he could be lived another 50-100 years. We never will know now!

Big Thanx to Fallon.
Jimmy Fallon kissing Drew Barrymore -- on the field, on live TV -- right after the Red Sox won their first World Series in 86 years. In fact, they were shown in a closeup within 60 seconds of the final out. And every Red Sox fan is determined to pretend that this never happened, and that it didn't taint the moment even a little bit ... so it wasn't a huge deal.</center>

ROBOTS was a bad movie with simply AMAZING visuals and audio.
This movie, more than any other animated movie, really nailed the "realism" thing. Things that were supposed to be made of plastic actually looked like they were made of plastic. The light reflections and "imperfections" were amazing. The things that were supposed to be made of metal actually looked like they WEIGHED something.
--Which is something that NO OTHER cgi image has ever managed to do--
The movie itself was loud and disjointed. A few funny parts here and there. The rest was noise.
Having said that:
The Episode III trailer (which was considerably longer than the one available online) does look like it's going to deliver the goods. It looks A LOT less day-glo than the previous two.

OK, I'll admit I want to see this in the theaters even after skipping the last one until it was on HBO.
That said, it all looks so incredibly fake. What is Lucas' reluctance to just make an actual SET like he did in the old films? Or some models? The final space battle in "Jedi" STILL looks infinitely better than anything he's done in the new trilogy. Now it all looks like a giant video game.

True dat!
CGI sucks. It always does.
What I don't understand aboot Lucas is that he feels the NEED to create things digitally that can easily be contructed (or sometimes even found in nature!). I guess if you're trying to shoot a planet made entirely out of lava (GL's vision of "ending the new trilogy in hell") then you do HAVE to use CGI to create it. But, other than that...how aboot finding a f'cking real location please?!
The fields and plains and forests in Episode One look hilariously bad. Almost as if they were modeled after a drawing stuck to his refrigerator by one of his kids. The LOTR trilogy had a million similar shots and they all looked a lot better. Why? Because they were shot on location, damn it!
Lucas can't even find a simple bedroom or boardroom he'd like to shoot in. He always has to "paint" one in the computer. It never looks real. EVER.
He also seems to have something against having the actors actually shoot a scene together. The are always shot seperately and comp'd together. I think he does this to protect plot secrets from being leaked but, still....it looks like shit. Just set up the camera and yell "ACTION!". Jeez christ.

or Mordor; then again he's been "borrowing" from Tolkien from the beginning, might as well "borrow" his trailer structure from the Lotr ones as well...
Though I must say I now look forward to the scene where Anakin duels Tyrannus in front of the seated Palpatine (with the air battle going on in the back) I must say Lucas copies his own work much better than he does everyone else's...
I think I also look forward to seeing the Trade Federation heads get the business end of a lightsaber, which may be almost as satisfying as seeing Jar-Jar's head roll around on the floor...
I also can't wait to see Natalie Portman's 30 min hardcore sex scene.... oh wait, that's just in my mind, bah...

his character was also called Count Dooku, but that's simply unfortunate and I try to ignore that one.
...so here's to the scene where anakin and Tyrannus's sabers cris cross in front of Palpatine as he laughs maniacally.

But the Jedi didn't realize Dooku's secret. Behind a veneer of elegant charisma and well-tabled political arguments, Dooku had been corrupted by the power of the dark side. After his departure from the Jedi order, Dooku was seduced to the dark side by Darth Sidious, the Dark Lord of the Sith. By Sith tradition, Dooku adopted the name Darth Tyranus and added deceit and treachery to his already formidable array of weapons.
In both guises, Dooku began recruiting agents for what would eventually amount to the death of the Old Republic. As Tyranus, he contacted the notorious bounty hunter Jango Fett to become the template for a hidden clone army on Kamino. As Dooku, he appealed to the greed of the galaxy's most powerful commerce barons to consolidate their forces to challenge the Republic.

"Revenge of the Sith" presents Anakin in Vader's black get-up only at the very end of the movie, Lucas said.
"Obviously, fans would love to see a movie about Darth Vader running around killing people," said Lucas..."I'm not telling that story, and I'm not interested in that. That's not what the movie is.
Damn it. Then why is Lucasfilm marketing Vader's Red Saber? I hope we do get to see him use it, or else they should only market Anakin's Blue saber. The one he uses in his fight with Obi-Wan which looks just like the one in the original Star Wars (now called Episode IV) that Obi Wan gives to Luke (that Anakin wanted his son to have when he was old enough, I wonder if lucas will remember to have Anakin say that)

Yeah, he knows he has a son thinks he's going to die. Anakin would say it when he can no longer fight but isn't dead yet. I'm guessing Anakin looses more limbs
<img src="http://2bluenewts.com/requiest/wp-images/bk.jpg">
Or I guess he can keep fighting without them.
A lot of people have a change of heart when faced with death
(Spoiler:)<font color=white>Perhaps if it's not Palpatine that brings him back from near death</font> then he would (Spoiler:)<font color=white>be able to come back to the good side of the force if say, Obi Wan and Yoda were able to repair him</font> I'm just guessing. But since Obi Wan does say Anakin wanted Luke to have it, it would make sense to have that come from something. Lucas always had the conflict between Obi-Wan and Anakin/Vader in the plot of these movies at least the outline of it. And he used that scene from 1977's Star Wars (Obi Wan and Luke in Obi Wan's home on Tatooine) in the teaser for Episode III

I just now read that Lucas wants a 3-D version of all the Star Wars movies. He's campaigning for a 3-D movie revival along with James Cameron.
Why??
And God I hope he doesn't make a new 3-D definitive version of Star Wars.

Or he didn't want to kill his son. He was the one who suggested to Palpatine that Luke could be turned to the dark side after Palps said Luke could be a problem.
I think Lucas changed the dialouge in The Empire Strikes Back to now make it sound like it was the Emperor's idea to bring Luke to the darkside and replace Vader (since Palpatine didn't plan on Anakin's injuries and becoming more machine than man.)

Yeah! Lucas said from the begining that he wanted to make all nine of the episodes. He also said he wrote them all together. He said the reason he started with IV was because it was the one he thought would suck the general public into it. So going under that, it would only make sense that the continuity of the episodes would make sense.
Eh, who cares.
One other question, what ever happened to the last three episodes? Why did he decide to not finish them?

with the prequels turning the focus of the saga from luke to anakin, i guess with ROTJ ending with the redemption of anakin, and the fulfillment of the prophecy, lucas felt the story was complete ...

Star Wars: Clone Wars Volume 2
I wasn't sure if I should start another thread about the cartoon, so I'm just keeping it here since it's Star Wars and this stuff leads into the 3rd movie.
I found chapter 23 in a newsgroup (a.b.mm.cartoons) but thought that only chapters 21 and 22 have aired so far. Are these airing in other countries first?
For those Cartoon Network Watchers (I've only watched these starwars cartoons and Family Guy on their) what is Toonami? the file I found had that in the corner of the screen, but when I watch the show on TV it only has the CN logo.
In Chapter 22 Anakin is made a Jedi Knight (without going through the "trials" which I would have liked to have seen, since it was mentioned in Episode I) but in the trailer the council tells him that he will not be made a master. Is this just a case where the cartoon doesn't follow the movie or did I miss something.

Pretty good stuff. I like the artwork. I read it this morning in computer class just to pass the time. Looks like the comic adaptation, as in most cases, is just a real quick way of telling the story. There's obviously going to be more. We just don't see it all because they can't make a graphic novel that big.

in episode I in the first 10 minutes you see another 3po droid.
There is also another 3PO-like droid at the very beginning of Star Wars (the original 1977 movie) that is walking along side C3PO in the very fist scene during the attack on the ship)
There is also a white/grey one on Hoth in Empire Strikes Back, and C3PO says hello to another one (gold or silver, I forget) in the cloud city (who beeps something at him, and C3PO says he's rude)
That one in Episode I was a silver one (may not be called C3PO, but something similar, like R2-D2 is the blus droid we know, while Obi Wan has a red one called R4 that attaches to his ship in Episode II)
Obi-wan doesn't deal too much with C3PO or R2 so it's not that out of line for him not to remember him.

Here's the deal.
Anakin in Phantom Menace rebuilt a protocol droid known as a C-3PO model.
Only 3PO gets his memory erased, which is why R2-D2 remembers being apart of Obi Wan's history.

<p>GL is the king of pre-releasing stuff.</p><p>I remember back in 99 there was some backlash because the PHANTOM MENACE soundtrack came out a few weeks before the movie and one of the songs was called "Death Of Qui-Gon Jin". People were pissed that the soundtrack would reveal such a huge spoiler.</p><p>Also, I read the PHANTOM MENACE book before the movie was released and it was NOTHING like the movie. Entire scenes and events were different, omitted, and/or changed. He prob knew that if that book was released AFTER the movie came out...nobody would buy it.</p>

Of COURSE he was going to die...it was inevitable a character like that was going to die since he didn't show up in the later trilogy. Yeah, Lucas "spoiled" that he would die in the first film, but big, fat, fucking hairy deal. His death was inevitable and obvious.</p><p>Oh, and the script is supposedly out there online. <p>Yes, Mo. Nobody knew he was going to die. Not right there in a sword fight in THAT particular episode. <p>OK, the fact that the original trilogy went out of its way to beat us over the head that outside of Luke, Leia, Obi-Wan, Yoda, Vader and The Emperor there WERE NO JEDI LEFT ALIVE IN THE ENTIRE goddamn galaxy should be a TINY hint that ANY Jedi in the new trilogy has a life span of next to nil.</p><p>Posting in this thread is a nightmare, technically speaking.</p>

<p>Right. We all knew he was going die. But, the reveal on the soundtrack meant that he wasn't going to be in Episode II or III. I just got done watching seasons one and two of Clone Wars. My God, it's everything I ever wanted this trilogy to be. Hopefully episode three will follow in it's path.

<p>The third season is already ongoing. And it's even better than seasons one and two (I downloaded the new episodes off of KLR). Each chapter is 12 minutes long and shows the actual friendship between Obi Wan and Anakin since the first season opens with Anakin becoming a Jedi Knight. </p><p>This is absolutely great stuff.</p>

Fewer shows but longer episodes. They ended with the opening shot of the Movie (Episode III)</p><p>The Second Volume explains why Anakin has a different Mechanical Arm (which look a lot less like C3PO's arm in Episode I) then at the end of Episode II and how Palpatine ends up where he is at the beginning of the movie (not really a spoiler since it's in the opening crawl, but it's cool that they show it in the cartoon)<br /></p>

But this book is all the events that happen immeadiatly before Ep III and will help make greater sense of the opening. I couldnt put it down, I read the last 150 pages in a two hour time frame, it flew that much.</p>

<p>I've been a psycho Star Wars megafan since 1977 but, I just CAN NOT get into the novels. Anything that takes place in that expanded universe simply doesn't feel like SW to me. I've looked at a few over the years. Lots of unpronouncable names....I think Han & Leia have twins or somethin'.... and most importantly...THERE IS NO CONTINUITY!!! The books are like an entirely different story that just happens to have some of the elements (lightabers, the force, etc).</p><p>It's kinda like the new Honeymooners remake. Yeah...it has characters named Ralph and Norton and Alice but, other than that, it's a movie that exists outside of the original Honeymooners "universe". Lame.</p><p> </p><p>If you're telling me that THIS book is a valid entry into the SW universe that we all know from the movies...then I will check it out. But the minute I see a main character with a name like " T'xhon " who is more powerful than every Jedi who ever lived or died ...I am outta there!</p>

Doesn't Clone Wars (The Cartoon) already show us how Episode III opens? It literally brings us to the opening shot of the movie and shows us why Anakin and Obi Wan are doing what it is they are doing when the movie begins.

<p>THERE IS NO CONTINUITY!!! The books are like an entirely different story that just happens to have some of the elements (lightabers, the force, etc).</p><p>Ok that is a whole different thing than what I was writing about. Those were the old Bantam Spectra books, and yes they had a lot of inconsistencies, and too much play on the force and who was strong and wasnt etc. In my opinion the X-Wing Series and the Thrawn Series are worth checking out there. But all those novels take place AFTER Return of the Jedi, whether one day or 18 years after it, they all take place after ROTJ. Del Rey came out with a series of books known as the "New Jedi Order", and that had all sorts of continuity, well worth checking out.</p><p> </p><p>Now onto the novel I recommended, it is in continuity with the cartoons and the movies and what not. As a matter of fact the book makes many references to battles that took place in the cartoons, and they have a total in depth take on what happens leading right up to the opening credits on Episode III. All the characters from the Prequel movies, and the cartoons are there. And the intricate detail that James Luceno does with describing General Grievous is sure to please many. I highly recommend checking it out, the book flies in the last 20 chapters. And the chapters at times are relativly short.</p>

So the movie is finished? I thought he was editing right up until he had to turn over the movie to be made into thousands of prints to ship to theaters. I remember that with Episode II he actually was making changes past that point, so people who saw the movie digitally projected saw a more "final" cut of the film (Anakin's Robot Hand being held by Padme, etc).

<p>i can't stand the concept of the 'extended universe' ... tell the the story within the context of the movie</p><p>They do stay within the context of the story. They follow the <strong>continuing</strong> story of Luke, Leia and Han and their struggle to go from Rebellion to government, better known as the New Republic. There are many tales of warlords who tried to fill the void of the passing of the emperor (the best being Thrawn). Some of the plot lines are smarmy with new superweapons like the 'Sun Crusher' and Death Star prototype, those stunk. But the X-Wing series was interesting in that they diverted from Han, Luke and Leia to follow a minor character FROM the movies, Wedge Antillies, and his attempts to rebuild 'Rogue Squadron'. You see how the New Republic took back Coruscant and other core worlds and the depridations of Isard (who is the daughter of an intelligence agent that serves Palpatine in the movies). Dont be so close minded, give them a try.</p>

Does that mean that even the decision to put his arms at his sides is a f'cking digital special effect?!!</p><p>I looked at the two photos and just assumed that the actor in the suit made the "decision" to lower his own arms. <p>It looks like his arms were bound in the postition (as seen in the teaser trailer) I noticed the new shot in the video game footage (on alt.biniares.starwars)</p><p>It's not really an update since the movie isn't released yet.</p><p>It's called editing, and yes, directors/editors do spend their time thinking about little things like that, it's how people make movies. You have to spend a long time on each shot and consider how things look and sound as well as how the story is flowing, does the dialouge make sense, does the music fit, is everything chronolgically correct, costumes, makeup, are objects in the shot that shouldn't be there, is the lighting correct, etc.</p><p>When you go back 20+ years later and make changes, then you can call it an update.</p><a href="http://www.xmradio.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://members.cox.net/nicksporsche/Passion2-01.jpg" border="0" /> "<strong>Let He Who is Without Sin Kick the First Ass!</strong>"</a>

As a session musician, I've often obsessed over the smallest of sonic details.</p><p>Having said that; GL most definitely does NOT have his priorities in order. There have been some HUGE plot inconsistencies and some even worse special FX over the course of the saga. Especially, those last two installments!!</p><p>I so badly want EpIII to kick ass. He is making changes like this to every scene in the film, it's the same thing most people do when making a movie. Not everyone can do it as quickly as Ed Wood. <p><strong>Two Geek Questions about the original STAR WARS ("Episode IV: A NEW HOPE")</strong></p><p> *
When they escape in the Falcon, Princess Leah says that it was too easy
and that odd are they are tracking them; so, knowing this, they still
fly right to the rebel's hideout?! WTF? Why wouldn't they rush
somewhere - change ships - and use the Falcon as a decoy, and then get
the princess and the plans to the rebels, without ever letting them
know that they know where they are...</p><p>* When the rebels are attacking, why can't the Death Star just do tractor beams and fitz out the fighters that way? </p><p>In
case it's not obvious, I am rewatching the STAR WARS movies - it's been
about 5 or 6 years since I've seen the original. Fascinating watching
it in the context of having just rewatched PHATOM and CLONES and the
cartoon CLONE WARS. They are actually doing a little better with the
continuity than I would have given them credit...</p><p>* C3PO, for
example, in the original doesn't know what planet he's even on - he
says as much. He even says that he's not very good with stories. I
still have to wonder how he's unaware he's back on his home planet or
even recognizing Beru & Owen after 20 years (even if it was a brief
meeting, he was still there)</p><p>* The discussions of the corruption of the senate and dissolving it ring more true now;</p><p>*
While not as dramatic as the other light saber duals, the one between
Darth & Obi Wan does have more power now that we've gotten to see
more of the subtext... </p><p>*
Both Luke and Han say the "I've got a bad feeling about all of this..."
- so, even back then, they were beating that hack line to death... </p><p>* "Thanks the maker...!" - C3PO's line is funnier now</p><p>* The moment when Obi Wan lies about Annakin/Darth Vader to Luke actually is more </p><p>I
still am curious why R2D2 doesn't fly around anymore; how come Obi Wan
ages 30 years in only 20 years; how Obi Wan has no memory of R2D2 or
C3PO; why Obi Wan vanishes in a puff; I do hate the changing of when
Han killed Greedo; why is that when Luke says to Leah that "Ben
Kenobi" is with him, she knows who he's talking about and says "Ben
Kenobi!"Maybe some of that will be cleared up by "Sith."<br />
</p><p>While I'm busy pondering, though, I'm also curious about the
"XP-38" that Luke talks about putting his speeder obsolete, or what the
"new VT-16" that the troopers are chit-chatting about. And are the
Storm Troopers still the Clone Troopers, or eventually did other people
get to join (?), because it just doesn't seem that they are as swift as
the Clones were.</p><p>All of that said - I love the original "Star
Wars" and see it standing the test of time. And I really loved "Empire
Strikes Back." A great movie, with or without the context. Even
Jedi has so many terrific iconic moments, if only they hadn't gone so
cutesy. <br />
</p><p>I
also think that the prequels are missed opportunities; I wish
Lucas had given us something we don't already know; how great would it
be if they had made Annakin "Darth Vader" at the end of "Episode 2" and
then just give us a completely unexpected "Darth Vader" movie.
Something to bridge the distance of time between "Darth" becoming
"Darth" and Luke coming into his own, with the Empire getting stronger
and stronger, and the last of the Jedi fighting to their death, and the
rebels going into hiding...<br />
</p><p>More of the fall of the Jedi. 20 years between "Episodes" is just too much, especially when most of the others seem tighter.<br />
<br />
</p>
<div align="center"><strong>(IF ANY OF THE STUFF I PONDERED AND RUMINATED
ABOUT IS HINTED IN SPOILERS, PLEASE DON'T HINT THAT I'LL GET MY ANSWERS
AT THE MOVIE - I'M ALREADY FEEL I KNOW TOO MUCH, JUST KNOWING COMMON
KNOWLEDGE STUF - THANKS!)</strong><br />
</div>
<p> </p>
I usually don't buy into this
"Stop targeting kids with marketing!" crap, but when you go and say
something isn't for kids, and then spend your own money promoting it to
kids, I think it's hypocritical and irresponsible. It's still
ultimately the parents responsibility, but he's trying to get kids to
see something he doesn't think they should see.<br />

<br />I agree 100%. <p> </p><p>Sure
- i would personally love a a PG-13 "Episode III," but (as much as I
want to pretend otherwise) STAR WARS should be movies that are
accessible to children as they are the adults who first got into them
as children 25 years ago. </p><p>ESPECIALLY because of the relentless
marketing towards the kids that made Lucas richer than Oprah - for te
love of Yoda, you can not have the ordered middle chapter in this
soap opera suddenly be something only for the big people, but then
finish off the entire series with Ewoks in the last Chapter. </p><p>Actually, come to think of it, the entire scarttershot approach of who each movie is for is kind of annoying:</p><p><strong>Episode 1 </strong>- For Little Kids</p><p><strong>Episode 2</strong> - For Chicks</p><p><strong>Episode 3</strong> - For Adults and Big Brothers</p><p><strong>Episode 4 </strong>- For old people</p><p><strong>Episode 5</strong> - For Film Scholars and buddhists</p><p><strong>Episode 6</strong> - For Little kids </p><p>The

We shouldn't protect them from shitty movies? Or from the fantatics that blindly support them, even as they get progressively worse?

Reminds me of the Neo/Smith fight in the 3rd Matrix movie, which is not a good sign. The fight itself should be good, like the fight scenes in Episode I. Those few seconds are the only thing I watch from that movie. I should go back and time it, I bet it's about 90 seconds of film (Maul vs both Jedi, Maul vs Qui Gon and then Maul vs Obi Wan)

<p>Marketing IS "The Dark Side." And if there is anything worse than marketing, it's marketing that targets children.</p><p>HBox is 100% right in all of this - parents do have the ultimate responsibility, however Lucas comes across as a hypocrite when he makes a movie with Wookies, Droids, Darth Vader and Yoda, and then says it's NOT for kids, but - by the way - the little ones can still give him money for the toys with their likenesses on it, and then wait until it comes out on DVD and sneak a peak then. Bullshit. It forces responsible parents into being the bad guys in this.</p><p>What it comes down to is that the movie is not the end product anymore - they are simply putting out movies to sell and license the garbage.</p>

<p>The point of Lucas saying that little kids shouldn't see this is to promote the fact that this movie will appeal to adults. In a nutshell, he's pandering to the Episode I haters. </p><p>This marketing is being taken too seriously. Lots of PG-13 movies have been marketed to kids because PG-13 encompasses every demographic. It's not so bad that kids can't see it without a parent, but it's not so light that adults will feel shortchanged (by lack of violence or whatever). </p><p>Take what Lucas says with a grain of salt. If there's one thing he really knows, it's marketing. The man is a consumate salesman, recognize that everything he says is a sales pitch.</p>

<p>To be fair... not ALL toy & candy marketing is directed at very young children. Lucas stated that the movie IS safe for a 9 or 10 yr old but probably NOT ideal for a 5 year old. 9 year old boys (and older) DO play with toys...collect comics...play video games...and eat candy. </p><p>I can't BELIEVE that I'm actually defending GL because I truly do hate what he's done with the last two episodes (and the horrid special editions) but...in THIS particular instance...I don't think he's being hypocritical. The EpiIII demographic is "10 and older" and he's marketing directly to that demo. And it's not like he can do any product placement in the movies themselves so, he'd doing it right out in the open.</p><p>If there was a "PG-10" he probably would've used <em>that</em> rating.</p><p>PG13 doesnt mean kids under 13 simply shouldn't see the movie. It merely means that, as a parent, you should give it some thought. Some kids are total pussies, ya know? </p>

Harry Knowles also loved Episode II. If he still professes to love Episode II, his opinion is meaningless. If he hates Episode II (like, it seems, everyone else does) then his opinion is worthless.

I know Kevin Smith went ga ga over Episode III, but what were his feelings on the other prequels. TheForce.net has their reviews and they gushed, but then, they gushed for Episodes I and II, also. Where are all the skeptics? Were they invited to the screening?

<p>DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE</p><p>I have been diappointed to many times when it comes to the Star wars movies. They are no longer the movies I feel in love with as a child. When i want to show good movies to the children in my family it will no longer be the Star wars trilogys</p><p>That being said of course i will see this movie but im not going in with any expectations and im sure i will leave dissapointed</p><p>Hary Knowles is as credible as a Japanese journalist</p>

<p>Alrighty, I have just finished the Book of Ep III (I wont be able to see it the opening days cause of my work schedule and silly drill), and if the movie is a tenth how graphic the book is, wow!! This will be one of the best. I have to include a spoiler here. It involves a scene when Bail Organa gets to the Jedi Temple while it is being 'purged'.</p><p>SPOILER (from the novel)</p><p><font color="#ffffff">The Scene is Bail Organa noticing the Jedi Temple is on fire and lands demanding entry.</font></p><p><em><font color="#ffffff">...Bail set the speeder down only a few meters from the deck entrance and hopped out. A squad of clone troopers stood in the open doorway. Smoke billowed out from the hallway behind them.</font></em></p><p><em><font color="#ffffff">One of the troopers lifted a hand as Bail approached. "Dont worry, sir, everything is under control here."</font></em></p><p><em><font color="#ffffff">"Under control?? Where are the SER teams? What is the army doing here?"</font></em></p><p><em><font color="#ffffff">"I'm sorry I cant talk about that, sir."</font></em></p><p><em><font color="#ffffff">"Has there been some kind of attack on the temple?"</font><font color="#ffffff">"I'm sorry I cant talk about that, sir."</font></em></p><p><font color="#ffffff"><em>"Listen to me, Sergeant, I am a Senator of the Galactic Republic and I am late for a meetiing with the Jedi Council-"</em></font></p><p><font color="#ffffff"><em>"Im sorry the council is not in session, sir."</em></font></p><p><font color="#ffffff"><em>"Maybe you should let me see for myself."</em></font></p><p><font color="#ffffff"><em>The four clones moved together to block his path. "Im sorry, sir. Entry is forbidden."</em></font></p><p><font color="#ffffff"><em>"I am a Senator-"</em></font></p><p><font color="#ffffff"><em>"Yes, sir." The clone sergent snapped his DC-15 blaster from his shoulder, and Bail, blinking, found himself staring into its blackened muzzle close enough to kiss it. "And it is time for you to leave, sir."</em></font></p><p><font color="#ffffff"><em>A burst of blasterfire ripped through the smoke and scattered into the dawn outside. Bail stared with an open mouth as a Jedi flashed out of nowhere and started cutting down clones. No: not a Jedi.</em></font></p><p><font color="#ffffff"><em>A boy.</em></font></p><p><font color="#ffffff"><em>A child no more than ten years old, swinging a lightsaber whose blade was almost as long as he was tall. More blasterfire came from inside, and a whole platoon of clones came pelting toward the landing deck, and ten year old was hit, and hit again and then just shot to rags among the bodies of the troopers he killed, and Bail started backing away, faster now, and in the middle of it all, a clone wearing the colors of a commander came out of the smoke and pointed at Bail Organa. </em></font></p><p><font color="#ffffff"><em>"No witnesses," the commander said. "Kill him!!"</em></font></p><p><font color="#000000">END SPOILER</font></p>

Heres what i found, the scene where Luke is leaving Yoda and Ben to go save Han and Leia.</p><p>Ben <em>That boy boy is our last hope...</em></p><p>Yoda<em> No there is another...</em></p><p>Now wasnt Ben there for the birth of the twins, Doesnt he know Luke had a sister, Has Ben (obi won) gone senile?</p>

She has been trained in the diplomatic arena while Luke has been bred for being the perfect Jedi weapon to combat the Sith. Yes there is a reference that will be made to this sometime in Ep III.</p>

<p>Booster,</p><p>I've often asked the same question that you are asking. What does that exchange between Obi and Yoda even MEAN??! Who is the "the other" that Yoda is referring to that Ben DOESN'T know about?? It can't be Leia, right? I mean...Ben was <em>there</em> for their birth AND was responsible for seperating them and hiding from Vader (and each other). </p><p>We're dealing with a writer whose idea of filling a plot-hole is simply to add the line "what I told you was true...FROM A CERTAIN POINT OF VIEW."</p><p> </p><p>EDIT: I kinda/sorta see what you're saying DOOG but, it's a stretch. Leia is strong with the Force and if she WAS going to learn how to use it...Ben would be aware of that.</p><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v355/tucker71/fezident.jpg" border="0" /> "I'm looking for the 'Make Believe Ballroom'....Don't get fresh, Buddy!"

<p>Luke wasn't trained until he met with Obi-Wan, he was a farm boy. His training wasn't ideal, but was the only thing that could be done.</p><p>Yes but Luke was put into the same environment as Anakin, sans being a slave. He was put into a situation to want to better himself, remember he wanted to go to the Imperial Academy on Carida. His environment also had him where he had learned fighting skills, although they were necessary to survive attacks by Tusken Raiders. He was being bred to want to escape from his environment, to be better than what he was. Which made him perfect to be a Jedi Warrior that could combat the Sith. SPOILER: <font color="#ffffff">The Jedi's problem in the Old Republic's was they had trained to fight the Sith a thousand years before, while the Sith had trained and learned and increased in power. Hence why Yoda is unable to beat Palpatine/Sidious in Ep III.</font> So the disbandment of the Imperial Senate, the rise of the Rebellion and the arrival of the droids made it the perfect time to tune Luke into that Jedi Warrior. Something the knights of the old Republic werent prepared to do.</p>

<p>I'm sorry, I thought you meant his training was ideal. I see your point. I'm just saying his training was rushed, so much so that it doesn't make sense (unless you accept that he's actually the chosen one, Qui Gon was off by a little)</p><p>Actually, Anakin's training was a bit rushed as well. That's why he failed to beat Obi Wan and why he was tricked by Palpatine.</p><p><a href="http://www.xmradio.com/" target="_blank"><img src="http://members.cox.net/nicksporsche/Passion2-01.jpg" border="0" /></a></p><p> <a href="http://www.xmradio.com/" target="_blank"> "<strong>Let He Who is Without Sin Kick the First Ass!</strong>"</a></p>
