I'm a bit computer illiterate.
I just bought a Dell Latitude D600 Laptop 1.5 GHz, Pentium (M) Centrino.


Got it off Ebay for $900.00 brand spanking new.

1st question, did I get a decent deal?

2nd, I'm wanting to burn cd's quite a bit, will this computer make it easy for a dumb fuck like me? Same goes for DVDs.

Any input on these or any other opinions you may want to share would be appreciated.


Keep in mind when it comes to computer talk, I AM the least common denominator.

Your dell would need to have come with a DVD burner or a CD burner in order to burn either media.

You never know. The Dell laptop I got off ebay was totally legit, the guy who sold it to me was great and I ended up getting the extended dell warranty transferred over to myself.

I took my Dell laptop from a Celeron processor to a P4, it was no easy task getting all the way inside the laptop under the keypad and through the various fans and whatnot to get to the processor and remove it. However I ordered the processor off NewEgg's website and followed step by step instructions which I found on Dell's Message Board. Find the messageboard for your pc on the Dell's website, you will more than likely find people who have mod'ed their laptops who can give you the info on what you need to do for yours.

The upgrade was a great move, that plus an additional 512 memory upgrade (Corsair memory) gave it a huge boost. Plus I made certain the upgrade wouldn't overheat the system by getting the precise processor needed for the upgrade. Check out Dell's Forums... (http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums?~ck=mn)

At the very least, you would need to let us know what software you were using. Nero, Roxio, or some other? They pretty much operate the same way, but there are some minor differences that would need to be pointed out.

Speaking of Nero 5.5, I had trouble with my program so I dumped it and try to reload it from the original disk. When I try to install it it says "Fatal error occurred during installation, the program is not installed" What's going on? I already went to add/remove to see if I could remove it then do a clean re-install. But I get the same error message "Fatal error" How the fuck do I re-install this program?

maybe power cycle your cable modem, leave it powered off for a minute before powering on

or

right mouse click on your "NETWORK icon and hit properties. when the window pops up and you see the Local Area Connection, right-mouse click on it and you'll get another window that has a REPAIR option. Click on it and then try the internet again.
