I think I'm a Republicrat

I put this in The Confessional because I really am torn.

Tonight I got one of those gay "holiday updates" from a friend with two kids. Part of which was spent on how they supported their local Republican candidate which means, they "can afford [their] house for four more years."

Republican or Democrat, I've always been able to afford my mortgage. Sure, I had more money when Clinton was in office, but that happened to be the natural rise and fall of economics.

I suppose it comes down to whether you're liberal or conservative. I am all for tax cuts, yet I want to see more money towards schools and social programs, yet I want welfare reforms.

I am so confuzzled. Am I politically schizophrenic?

You're middle of the road. There is nothing wrong with that. I think most of America feels the way you do. You take both good things from the republicans and democrats, and that's cool. You're thinking with your heart and not just with a row on your ballot sheet.

Am I politically schizophrenic?


A. Do you exibit 2 (or more) of the following symptoms over a significant period of time during a 1 month period:
1. Delusions re: your affiliation with either political parties.
2. Hallucinations that things would be better if the other political party was in charge.
3. Disorganized speech. (Ex. Being a leader is hard work because it's hard work).
4. Grossly disorganized or catatonic behavior. (Ex. Unable to locate WMD's and being "shocked and awed" with the current success of the war/nation building in the Middle East).
5. Negative symtoms. (Ex. Poor view of the economy, the nation in general and being confuzzled).

B. Social/Occupational dysfunction--basically are you having difficulty in various areas of your life (ex. social functions) due to your politcal beliefs/values.

C. Disturbance is not due to a medical conditon or pshychological effects of a mind altering substance.




If your adhere to the above conditions........maybe you are. But the only cure for that is to move to Canada. I don't think there are Republicans or Democrats there.

Amen. Most people dont really fit in either party, but are forced to choose between them. A viable 3rd party would keep both from straying too far from the middle. Alice, why would you think there's anything contradictory about wanting to provide a good education and having more control over your own money? These are the false choices people are given. If you were able to choose from a selection of public/private/charter schools you could select the one you prefer. And cost may well be a factor. But were all given the one size fits none public school system, and nobody's happy with it. And when they do a lousy job they . . . . . get their bugets increased. People need to be able to vote with their feet.

Had to start with a joke. I'm also pro-gay marriage, pro-stem-cell research, and pro-choice. Unfortunately these issues are politically based. Somewhere along the lines politics became all about morals. Yet our leaders fail us time and time again (if you hold our leaders up to a "moral" mirror). Look, I could care less if my leader got a hummer in the Oval Office. Just don't lie about it.

Personally, I think more of our leaders need hummers. Maybe then they'd fucking lighten up.
