At work I have this HP Deskjet 5650 printer (pictured below) which I love the quality and the way it prints. So I've been looking to add a new printer and give my existing one to Amy so she could have a printer. Not that there's anything wrong with the one I have, but I like the one I have at work.

So I looked on eBay to see about getting one. I had bought a previous HP printer for my dad on eBay and it works great and was a good deal. The prices and bids for all the models were roughly around the $70-$110 range. I went through several pages of auctions until I saw this one for the printer on Buy It Now for $25. It listed the printer as in "Excellent Condition!" so I went for it. For $25 it was worth a shot to see if it really was.
I get the printer about a week later and indeed it was very clean and looked pretty good. There was only one problem. Every single time I would print a page it would advance another page and jam up. I was starting to feel like I was screwed until I had an epiphany. I looked up the serial number on HP's website to see if it was still under warrantly. Sure enough it was.
So I called HP and reached a somewhat annoying gentleman in India named Raj. He was annoying because he was rude for the most part. When I called up, I told him that my company had a technician from HP in the office and that he looked it over and said to call up HP and have them replace it for me. A pretty decent but rather silly lie. Nonetheless the guy from HP wanted me to run various tests for him over the phone. None of which I did, though I told him was doing. He'd say "open the back and check the rollers" or print this, or whatever and I'd be like "yup, nothings happening" or "It still says there's a jam".
After about 10 minutes on the phone with this guy I said "Look, it's not working and as I said, a technician from your company looked it over today in person and the told me to call you to have it replaced". With that he goes "ok".
Last night I came home to a brand new printer, not even a refurbished one. It works like a charm like the one I have at work.
So basically for about $25 and some shipping cost I got a brand new printer. Woo hoo!!
Oh I forgot to mention, I get my ink for free too. Hehehehe ;p
