Okay, I looked into it further, and this is what I found on the NYRMB: "I am a subscriber to XM because of Eddie Trunk's Saturday night show which I feel is by far the best rock music program on the service. Very dissapointed that his show has not been on the last few Saturday's and his web site offers no explanation. I hunted around a bit and found out that Trunk has actually been suspended by XM because Mike Piazza was on a couple weeks ago and was critical of the programming on the Boneyard channel outside of Trunk's show. Did anybody hear this? Anybody know more?? Not sure what Piazza said but the music choices are pretty eratic outside of Trunk's show and many of the DJs leave much to be desired. If I'm not mistaken Trunk's show is live, so how can he censor Piazza? Most important, I thought Satellite was supposed to be different from FM and more honest with their audience. If this is true I'm real dissapointed in XM. Hopefully Sirius is calling him or K Rock in NYC, which with their new format would make a lot of sense." Is Ferrall under contract with Fox Sports or not? He has been filling in for DJ's here and there and he will be on XM this weekend but as part of "Fox Sports". He is not exclusive to XM yet. I really would love to hear Ferrall with the "muzzle" taken off. They should give him the Golden Overnight Ticket so he doesn't have to change diapers at 2AM.

I just wanted to give a quick opinion on O&A's show now that I've heard it for about a week.  Why do they talk about wackbag so much?  They stop the fucking show to mention people from it.  Anthony just brought up someone who made a comment he didn't agree with in the middle of them talking about something else.  He just interrupts everything going on and says "This guy from wackbag...." and ruins the whole bit.  They go to callers from wackbag like they're fucking royalty.  O&A never did that before.  Why are they doing it now?  I know they're having people there do the assault on the media but do they have to make a messageboard such a big part of the show?  I personally don't like it.  It's not making for very good radio.

before.  Why are they doing it now?  I know they're having people there

Ron's call to O&A was CLASSIC!Ron was busting O&A's balls for kissing Bill Donahue's ass...Donahue was all over the tv 2 yrs ago blasting 0&A for the sex for sam incident So today, O&A called him and were pretty cool with guy.Ron called in and asked:  "do you always kiss the guy after he rapes you?" I'm not bashing Wackbag, I'm wondering why O&A depend on them so much.  They never depended on a messageboard in the past and were great.  Listening to the show last night, after they got past all the wackbag shit, they were hysterical making comments on the Maury show.  It was cruel as shit, but you expect that from them, and it was the funniest thing I've heard from them while checking out some free trials on XM.My only point is WHY are they using wackbag so much when they dont need to.  And my only real quesion is, when did this dependence start?I think Ron and Fez do it perfectly.  They mention us to remind us that he notices and recognizes the members here, but never lets the messageboard overshadow the radio show.  That way our heads just get big enough , but not too big.

they had techincal dificulties with the feed earlier and had to jump up
a half hour in the show... one they fixed they replayed the bit they
missed out of place... and no this has never happened before and
technical difficulties are rare

Wackbag is the only site that plays by the rules of the show.  See my "I hate the pests" thread in the confessional.I won't go on an anti-wackbag rant.  Just realize there are better boards out there, and that hopefully, WB will go the way of OA.com.

Some love both shows, some hate one show or the other, some bitch about paying to listen while some will spend their money beyond just listening to the show to do stuff like this. Out of curiosity, what exactly did the pests "win"? Did they make this Philips guy lose his job? No. Did they make him cry on the air? No. Did they make him lose listeners? It's actually a tough to read billboard on the side of a stretch of road that almost looks residential. It does not look like a main road. Just driving by you would have no idea what it was, who it was for or against, or any of it. Seems very, very silly and (in the end) meaningless to me, but if it makes them happy, c'est la blah blah.I remember years ago, in NYC, NBC bought a billboard right near Letterman's studio promotinig The Tonight Show as "#1!" To counteract that, Dave got CBS to put up a billboard just behind that one, still in view, done in the same font and style as the NBC one, but instead it had Dave's picture with "The Late Show - #3!" - at the time it was behind even Nightline. THAT was clever, imo.

That's one tiny ass, hard to read billboard.   I was picturing a billboard like you'd see on the New Jersey Turnpike. You know, 202 just replayed one of the reasons I will never like O&A as much as Ron and Fez.  They replayed the old WNEW bit where they interviewed Robert Cleary, the Frenchman from "Hogan's Heros."  It wasn't bad enough to call him a fag the whole time after they found out he really was gay, but then he called back and they play a Hitler speech in the background after he talked about his own personal experience being in Nazi concentration camps.  Seems he was a young French Jew in the wrong place, and I think he said none of his family made it back from the camps right before they hit the sound clip.I guess everyone has that ONE thing that gets to them.  I don't want to be "that guy" who laughs at everything a show does, but WON'T put up with this or that, but the Robert Cleary call just makes me ill.  And that's the problem with O&A.  They don't have a line, and don't know when it goes from funny radio into horrific nonsense.

Oh yea, I love O&A too.  I'm not so offended that I won't listen again because the rest of the time they're funny.  But it's just when they get like they do in bits like the Robert Cleary interview I have to turn away.The 55 gallon drum challenge was another time I had to turn away.  They really abuse women on that show from time to time and it makes for piss poor radio.  Even worse than chicks making out and getting naked in studio.

Moe's comments with some minor exceptions.  R&F have done some sadistic stuff as well (the things they do to Paul-O at the live shows - tattoos, clogging the air tube in  the latex suit, etc.; the S&M stuff on the overnight show, shooting Billy with paintballs, etc.) but it never seems like it is what they're all about, whereas O&A seem to relish the cringe stuff.  Ron may have been like O&A back in the Florida yayo days but now R&F are at their best when they're whipping up little souffles of funny, with a touch of whimsy sprinkled on top.

Fez came up through those ranks, which may be why he's still so willing to put his hair on the line (for example). R&F both come in from with a wink and a nod pro-rassling mentality, and people get it.

I listened to O and A for the first time since they went
of the air in NY, via Direct TV. Here are some quick observations. It
sounds like they are very frustrated with XM. It's probably because of
the lack of good guests and limited exposure. Opie is still playing
politics to make themselves look more successful then they really are.
I'm not sure they are best cut out for morning radio, Anthony sounds
exhausted. They definitely have lost some off their fastball and the
excessive cursing is just unneeded. Honestly, people who curse that
frequently in real life are usually just dumb. They are not.

I never saw a LIVE O&A pest abusing a reporter but as I was watching channel 7 news just now, they were doing a story about a pregnant woman being sent to the back of the bus and they struck. stern fans have nothing because stern has nothing. He is a radio hero turned radio villain. Some people I know still LOVE stern and I just don't get it. I usually get a "really, wow" when I tell them how stern punked out of the radio war with O&A. I explained how he bitched up and went crying to the bosses. I tell them about the "gag order" and that's why they never heard about these incidents. It's ignorance, these people just don't know any better. Plant the seed of doubt into the brains of these stern fans. These people are in denial. They may even know in their heart that he's been untrue, but still need the gentle prodding of an XM fan with the promise of better shock radio, to convince that uninformed person to listen to XM. Once they do, they will understand.I was one of these uninformed fans once. I listened to stern religiously for many years and a guy at work told me to listen to O&A. I was like yeah whatever and one day I started listening and I was hooked. Then I listened to stern mornings and O&A evenings followed soon by Ron&Fez middays. Ron & Fez became my favorite but I would still listen to stern if I didn't find out what a fuckin fraud he is. He's was fuckin with O&A behind the scenes for years. Fuck him. The radio war that never happened. There are times I really wish stern would have fought back. What a fuckin bitch! Say it 'aint so stern, say it 'aint so. Hey by the way, what were some of the nasty details of Stern's divorce?Infidelity?Abuse?

I even posted something about that a while back (When they attacked Stern's Siruis Radio giveaway last year, I thought they were above it) But O&A don't just talk about Stern all the time for no reason, they do it when he says something stuipid ("I invented accustic music on the radio", "I put a bandana on cars", "I did it all")

Who can honestly say that they didn't see this coming? You've all heard some of the morons that call in to the show. This was an inevitability. I'm actually surprised that this is what ended it. I was so sure that it would end with someone just knocking down a reporter. But leave it to a "pest" to be smart enough to do something that's technically within the O&A's rules but is still dumb enough not to realize what a stupid thing they are doing. In the end, I'm just glad I won't have to hear these stupid bits anymore. 22 minutes a week is 22 minutes too much.

I was blown away today when they had Leo LaPorte on the show. I didn't see that coming. I was equally surprised that it was a good segment too. I'm glad they took the segment seriously. It was a very good show today, especially considering the nervousness of it all.

I'm not going to argue the point that ONA are a non-entity in the media.But
I will argue the point that RNF made the wrong decision. They fit in
with ONA, it's wonderful on XM. The future of Sirius is in question,

Don't get me wrong, I'm not some blind Stern fan. He
definitly slipped over the last couple of years. He said the most
recent count was 3.1 on O'reilly. I heard Opie's boss say they had
about 4 million the day Trump was on. That is one hell of a catch up if
it is true. The scary part is that Christmas season isn't over.Howard
had true national exposure, O and A never did. I'm a big R and Fez fan.
Attaching to Howard would have blown them up big time. Bruer was on
Howard the other day and thanked him for how many people he has brought
over. He said so many people subscribed to get Howard and learned to
like his show because it was just on. Remember HS has 2 channels and
could have given them a premium time slot. Instead they are sandwiched
between O and A reruns. As for the crappy programming, it is
absolutely true. But I'll tell you this, the Red Peters show was funny.
The fan roundtable was a good idea and works( except when the guests
suck him off, but the callers bash him and balance it out).O and A seem
to think some of the ideas are funny, since they are goofing on them
and then actually working to add more shows to their channel. It almost
an homage to him and his creativity and makes them look like sophomoric
losers. They wouldn't be so obsessed if he wasn't gaining ground.

I don't know why you're putting Stern up on this pedestal with every post Johnny4.  You don't see how shutting 2 guys up instead of taking them on, which was his MO he was so proud of he dedicated chapters of his books I read to this fact, was cowardly?Fine then, canonize Stern all you like.  We're allowed to have a difference of opinion.  I think Stern's show is terrible and I will never listen to it again.  Period.  As for moving to morning, they were never given the chance to.  Why would Infinity put 2 huge shows on against each other?  To compete with themselves?  That makes no sense.

They absolutely were given the chance. They were courted to be a
morning show for Q104.3(which is owned by Clear Channel, Infinity's
biggest rival at the time) and syndicated. They CHOSE to stay with
Infinity and do afternoons because they could piggy back off of 
Stern across the country.

I listened to Stern since the SEVENTIES!!! When he had the bad moustache and all. You sir have NO clue how funny Stern used to be. He was the BEST for many years. I went to ALL his events, got autographs, hung with Chivon, YOU NAME IT, I DID IT. I am a true radiophile and when I tell you that Stern sucks now, there is NOTHING that your twenty-something ass is going to tell me about Stern that I don't know. He is GAWD AWFUL now. He is unfunny. He is stressed out and in therapy because he is losing rabid fans by the thousands. Once people learn the truth about Stern they tend to get turned off. The old Howard Stern would NEVER back down from a fight. There must be some nasty dirt about his divorce that made Howard punk out. It almost like watching Mike Tyson's career. He was unbeatable once. Now he is just pathetic. It really upset me that Howard used a legal gag order on O&A. That's not the Howard I fell in love with. You remind me of those wimpy guys who stay with awful women just because they don't think they can get anything better. Opie & Anthony are not the answer to all our problems, but Stern is so old, so stressed, so unfunny, so phoney, that I feel no guilt walking away from his show and never turning back. Ed said it pretty well.  He is obviously a much bigger fan of Stern's than I EVER was, and he listened for longer so his opinion holds more weight than even mine.  I only go back to the early to mid 90's with him.  But like Ed said, he used to be a fighter who went cowardly and used his inside, behind the scenes muscle to take care of a "threat" hs saw coming up.  I don't think O&A are Gods or anything, but I credit them with helping me see the shit show Stern was putting out and waking me up to that fact. I was just blindly listening for a long time to the same damn show.  I just thought to myself "Why am I listening to Robin call Ba Ba Booey an idiot for like the 3rd day straight in this 3 hour a day fight?  FUck this!"  Bits of his show I've heard since in the garage I work in have only made me hate him more.As for the 104.3 morning shift, I don't know anything about it to he very honest.  I may have happened before they really started feuding with Stern, or as El Mudo said, they may have went for money and stayed in afternoon drive.  No clue.I DO know that O&A could have been live at ANY time they wanted at XM and despite alot of their fans saying "Go back to afternoons" they went to mornings.  That was a direct challenge to Stern.

I do not think he is awful now, just different(but not as good). He
will never do anything as funny as Lost in Space 1990 again.4)
The best thing about his show is not him, but his cast. Artie, Fred,
Richard and Sal are funny. If you stopped listening, you missed the
show get better. 5) Howard did not use a legal gag order. He instructed the company he built to shut them up. Stern apologized to his audience on his show and publicly on 60 minutes
for 10 years of sub par radio due to the FCC making him a lightning rod
and poster boy. He has said that he can't even play the tapes of stuff
he did 10 years ago because it would be found to be indecent. Stern is
absolutely a hypocrite. But so are O and A. I listened to them from the
beginning and they used to say what big fans they were and how they
owed their careers to him. Anthony was actually on Stern doing Jackie
impersonations.

When Ferrall was on WNEW his ratings were consistantly on the rise until he got canned. They doubled and tripled every ratings book. I like guys like Ferrall because it's better to burn out than fade away like HooHooHowie.Ferrall's schedule is still up in the air now, but luckily he was on overnights all this week and I recorded it because the guys at work howl about him. His show in Australia is at 4:30 on SEN and that's always a fun trip! My NFL picks are still better though...I'm happy for you that you don't listen to Fatso & FruityAss. Oh no, don't try to sugar coat my story.  I WAS one of those assholes who just took Hoo Hoo's word at face value.  That's why got me so mad.  I was comfortable listening to Hoo Hoo Howie and just continuted to blindly tune in, even when it got bad.  I did come to a moment where I just thought to myself "Why am I listening to Robin call Gary retarded for 3 hours a day?" and turned it off.  But as for O&A, because Hoo Hoo said they were clones, I didn't challenge the thought and didn't check them out to form my own opinion. So I missed months, if not a full year at least of O&A and Ron and Fez.What really makes me hate him is it showed me how easily I was manipulated.  I will never let someone form my opinion for me again.  Same problem I now have with all the Right Wing Talk hosts out there that I used to listen to way too much.

I always took what these radio assholes say about
themselves with a grain a salt. That's why I respect R and F, they
don't go out of their way to have jerky radio wars (except for the one
with Eddie Trunk, that was nasty). Stern's an asshole at times, just
like Opie an asshole most of the time (Anthony is still funny).

F. Take a look at today's busiess section of the Daily News. XM CEO
Hugh Panero said that Sirius was taking the low road and it'sbranding
was "raunchy". This does not bode well for O and A and R and F fans. If
you can read between the lines, XM might consider dropping its
"raunchy" programming. Next stop Sirius.

Two completely different issues.   -  I invented Infinity tell em fredStern did the same thing with Don and Mike censoring them from even mentioning his name.I will say this - I worked for the DoD in 2000 -2002 and had to be at work early in the morning and was in my car at 5:30 every day.  And not until the Sports Junkies were put on HFS in the morning there was nothing worth listening to in the DC Area.  I tried Stern and got tired of him describing his g/f and his hanging out with C list Celbrities (David Blaine), then i went to the hyena Elliott and his show was even worse and i ended up listening to Mike and Mike in the morning on the way to workStern's audience when the Junkies were on in the mornings took a huge hit as the Junkies were #1 in the DC area with men aged 18-34 or the money Demo.Stern like Chris Berman is a parody of himself

Stern like Chris Berman is a parody of himselfThat is a very good analogy.  Berman is a cartoon character that is more concerned with perpetuating his own image than actually making cogent points.  He would rather spend his time thinking up bad nicknames to use rather than come up with some new material.  He's coasting. That's what Stern has been doing....coasting for the past few years.  Granted he parlayed that into a big payday but what will he have to talk about now that his biggest enemy has been taken out of the picture.  Who is he going to rail against as a "fighter for civil liberties"?  Stern reminds me of Lenny Bruce right before his death.  Not funny anymore, more concerned with his mistreatment by the government and making it his entire act.  The only difference is that Lenny checked out.  Stern is going to be standing there with his dick in his hand and no new real act to speak of.

Opie is a Shitdick!Maybe the Stern Show made him sick. The one thing that would bug the hell out of me is the fact that Sirius was able to figure out how to let Howard have his show run long when XM cut of O&A in the middle of a bit a few times (Joe Rogan's phone call about Doug Stanhope(sp?) comes to mind, they were not only cut off from having the phone call on the air at the end of the show, the phone call itself was cut off. So O&A couldn't even record the call and play the rest of it the next day.)Actually I really love Opie on the show, some people give him crap and say that Anthony and Jimmy/Bill Burr/Patrice are the only funny ones on the show, but aside from running the show Opie puts out a lot of funny material himself. Most multi-host radio shows I've heard almost always keep the show going if they're supposed to be live and one host is sick.  The only show that consistently shut the whole thing down due to illness has always been...Stern's...hm.  Weird.

Tragedies not counting, I do know that D&M have done the show without one or the other - Rob and Buzz pick up the slack pretty well on that show, though.Aside from the Bucs Monday Night Football night, I do remember that Ron did how the show solo a couple of times when Fez really was sick - there was an especially cringy Fastest Hour that Harry sat in one time that maybe made them rethink doing it without the other.
