Road to the Roses Challenge 2005 (http://www.roadtotheroses.com)

Fantasy Horse Racing with really good prizes. Last year I did this link (http://www.ronfez.net/messageboard/viewmessages.cfm/Forum/82/Topic/36832/page/NEW_FANTASY_LEAGUE__kind_of____YOU_IN___.htm) and I finished very close to winning (#114 in the world). This year I want more of you to join so maybe one of us can take home the big prize. Last year I lead you guys to this site with no direction. This year I am giving you my Cheat Sheet. You have to pick 10 horses, 2 jockeys, 2 trainers. After certain dates you are allowed to add on to your "Virtual Stable." I will keep you informed of that.

***Currently has highest recorded Beyer Speed Figure of 109. The current Favorite to win the Derby, Declan's Moon, has the 2nd highest at a 107

Hell yeah! I added Rockport Harbor, Roman Ruler and Wilko with the supplementary picks. Right now I've got 48 points for a ranking of 11341 out of 23343.

Unfortunately, one of my jockeys, Pat Day, will be out for a while with hip surgery. Looks like this is going to be the high water mark for me.

glad to see yous two are still doing this....My stable pretty much stunk, but under heavy urging I was able to convince my best lady to form a stable as well.  She is number 44 overall.  We won a 10 dollar future wager her stable is as follows:bellamy road Giacomo going wild kansas city boy wilko bandini consolidator galloping grocer high fly high limit noble causeway rockport harbor sun king E Prado M Smith shirreffs zito147568152 points so far....booyah!

Nice job!  I'd choose between High Fly, High Limit or Bellamy Road.  If I had the bet, I'd put it on High Fly.I got 4 points yesterday and DROPPED in the standings.  Ugh.The second supplementary draft starts tomorrow and goes through Friday (April 11-15).  I think I'm going to add High Fly and Bellamy Road to my stable.

I have 100 points for a rank of 14250 out of 24163.  Glad to see the rest of you are doing better.I'm going to Delaware Park to watch the Derby.  I'm going to wheel a trifecta with High Fly, High Limit and Bellamy Road.  I'm going to wheel another trifecta with Sun King, Afleet Alex and Bellamy Road.  My third wheeled trifecta will be Wilko, High Fly and Afleet Alex.I'm also going to bet High Limit to win, Wilko to place and Spanish Chestnut to show.Good luck guys!

oh man, that was a sick race.  best i've ever seen.  and the finish- how could so many favorites shit the bed.  i got 10 pts from afleet alex, making my total: 167 pts, w/ a rank of 2631 out of 24163.

i usually don't watch the hour leading up to the race cause all they ever do is hype the favorite like it's the second coming of secretariat and then that favorite proceeds to tank. but i actually watched the hour before the race.....anyone else get a little weepy about the girl with the lemonade stand? i was rooting for afleet alex before i knew the story and afterwards i really wanted that horse to win. oh well at least steinbrenner's horse didn't even come close.

well, we might as well call this thread kick me square in the assSo, in an above post I mentioned that my best gal had a stable.  We had giacomo with his trainer and jockey.  Here's the kicker:  They give away trips to Vegas and an entry in the handicapper championships to the top 3 players.  After all is said and done, we finished fourth.  1st loser.  I said it before (when I finished 2nd in the Billiard Tournament at Dave and Buster's) "I'm always the bridesmaid, never the bride."4th-50th get a limited edition Derby Jacket....woo hoo.  If you want to check out the final standings to verify this here is the link<a href="http://www.roadtotheroses.com/G=21/overall_standings.phtml">http://www.roadtotheroses.com/G=21/overall_standings.phtml</a>my girlfriend is Kathryn from Brick,NJ....we finished 4th with 239 points....4th out of 24163

Congrats on finishing 4th sticky but at the same time it sucks that you missed out on a trip to Vegas by only two points.I forgot to change my stable but this time having a forgetful mind paid off.  I wound up leaving Giacomo as an active horse whom I otherwise would have dropped in favor of Bellamy Road, High Fly or Sun King.  Anyway, I got the 25 points and finished at 11395 out of 24163 with a total of 125 points.I took a beating at the track.  I bet a few long shots to show but Closing Arguemt or Giacomo weren't any of them.
